We had the pleasure of staying at Fairbrother Lodge for the third year in a row just this past weekend. A group of about 25 women gather here to reminisce about our college days. We are able to forget our daily lives and retreat to this wonderful house. The rooms are well appointed with quality bedding and furniture. The gathering areas are large and abundant. Our favorite room to gather in is the room with the fireplace. We always visit in the fall and having a roaring fire while playing board games or giggling over old photos is a perfect setting (the hot tub isn't so bad either!). There is a game room on the lower level although we never seem to venture down there. The large dining room table is under a beautiful stained glass chandelier acorn. There is a laundry room and an amply sized foyer. The views from the decks off the back of the house are breath-taking - especially in the fall for leaf-peepers! It is a quick walk down to downtown Lake Placid which offers many specialty shops interspersed with some commercial shopping and excellent eateries. Our communication with the owners has been superb. They are very quick with responses to questions. They have the house in tip top shape prior to our arrival and are not intrusive of our time there at all. They are available should you need them. Most of the pictures on the site are accurate. I would say that photos do not do this retreat justice. It is simply a beautiful house worthy of repeated stays. I would highly recommend this property! We cherish our weekends in Lake Placid and I would love to have others share in the magic of Fairbrother Lodge.

This November we rented the Fairbrother Lodge for a weekend family get-together. It was wonderful. It has accomodations for all ages. We had ourselves (sixties) three adult children and their spouse(thirties) , eleven grandhildren ranging from six months to thirteen years of age. We were all able to have dinner in the dining room together and at the same time everyone had their own space with all the bedrooms and living area. It was clean and we were pleasantly surprised that the rooms were even nicer than they appeared on-line. We could walk to the shops, church, restuarants and bars. The view from the Lodge is absolutely beautiful. We have already recommended it to several friends and we are all looking forward to hopefully a future visit to the Fairbrother Lodge. Sue

Last month, we held our 20th annual fraternity reunion ski trip at Lake Placid. We stayed at the Fairbrother Lodge and it was a great experience. We only had 16 people (5 couldn't make it due to poor weather in NYC), but this place could have easily held 10 more. The location is within walking distance to several bars, has lots of space, an updated kitchen and comfortable beds. We will definitely look to stay there again on our next Lake Placid visit.
