Come taste the wines of Elkton while in Our little cottage on the river. It is cute, clean and a great place to visit. We have hand picked three great wines from Each of the four local wineries for your degustation. You can sit, and sip while watching the unobstructed view of the Main Umpqua River in the quiet little town of Elkton. We are within walking distance of all of town. Population 170.
Elkton has four award winning wineries. Rivers Edge, Brandborg, Bradley Vinyard and Anindora all are represented at our place. Elkton is also home of Famous "Arlenes" cafe and Tomaselli's Pastry Mill has the best food in town. Imaging walking across the street to the river and catching a spring chinook salmon, cooking it on the grill and dining on the deck overlooking the river while enjoying a chilled bottle of local wine. Sounds like heaven!
Massage could be available if booked well in advance. Massage Central is located in Sutherlin 25 miles to the south. Or, a licensed massage therapist can come to you at the cottage. I have linked Massage Central web site to this one at the bottom of the page. Check it out and give them a call to make an appointment.
Elkton is also home to ECEC (Elkton community education center) They are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. They have a butterfly pavilion and a Native Oregon plant botanical outdoor garden. Each Labor day they put on a festival honoring the early settlers of the area using locals for the crew. Quite entertaining.
If you are a hunter, Elkton is located at the junction of the Siuslaw, Melrose and Tioga units for elk, deer, bear, cougar, or bird hunting. There is a abundance of wild turkeys here too.
If you are a fish enthusiast you will love it here. There are two boat launches within walking distance. There is a season almost all year long. The Elkton Cash market sells tags and licenses.
If the Coast is your bag, you will never run out of fun. Crabbing, Clamming, fishing, kite flying, walking on the beach, dune buggies trails are all within a 35 minute drive away. Make sure you go to Umpqua Aquaculture and get the best oysters in the state. There are a number of lakes all over the area for boating recreation.
We like to kayak the Umpqua. It is pretty tame and slow except for spots.
If you want to go further away, Crater Lake National Park is three hours away and Portland is almost three hours away. There are several snow parks to ski, or snowmobile within a few short hours away.
Perhaps you will want to just sit on the deck after a massage and while away the time watching the river go by while enjoying the wine.....
