New Years Getaway

Guest: Colesy (London)
Date of Stay: 12/30/11 Review Submitted: 02/14/12

This little place, ideal for 2 and perhaps a little compact for 4, was perfect for me and my girlfriends trip to Paris for NYE. Within a short distance of the louvre it was a great location. Being on Saint Honore too meant we could walk the length of the the designer shopping district and beyond. Whilst we walked alot, the location of this apartment also enabled us to get the metro to one of 4 nearby making Paris navigation easy -though the paris metro isn't logical and you may need to change many times to get to a destination, the 4 local stations makes this easier. WRT the apartment, there is an iron, mini ironing board, hairdryer (we took all -except the ironing board of course) as we didn't realise this was provided. The towels were a little dated (used) and could do with freshening up but really that's my only negative point. The place is well located, perfectly sized (for 2 really!), has a little balcony to sit on a look over the roof tops (you can see the ET tip) and...wait for it...has wi-fi...for all those (this is me included) who need communication to the outside world even when on vacation, it's a great plus. Recommended this place for sure.

Keep Away from these organizations

Guest: Harmik B.
Date of Stay: 11/24/11 Review Submitted: 02/24/12

Keep away anywhere you see the phone number. These organizations are in business of scamming their customers. First of all the reveiwes that you see on this listing does not even belong to this property. All the reviews here was attached to another listing under the same id last November. Now I am not sure that the reviews that I saw then beloned to that property. The property presented was not close to the property delivered. It was dirty and no hot water and it was advertised as two bedroom and two bathroom. The property was a one bedroom with another bed in the entrance area of the appartment. The second bathroom was outside on the stairs in a closet with no washing sink. There was a shower in the Kitchen. The property management was not responsive at all. there was no way that you could contact them. You could only send emails during business hours. and They would just give you promises that they will stop by to fix thing and they never showed up. They had provided an Emergency number that would never be answered at anytime. We were in the appartment for one night without any hot water the next day we decided to move out because the conditions were not good. After lots of complaints and mediation through their organization they agreed to refund us for two nights (out of 4) plus or deposit. They sent us a check but guess what their check bounced. When we complained they told us that they will send us another check. They never did. When I complained to Homeaway then they called me and told me that I am slandering them and their lawyer will be contacting me. (I have been waiting for over a two month now to hear from their lawyer). If you do a bit of research and finds their name you will be able to find lot's of compalints complaints about this organization where they have the same pattern. They are scamming people out of their money specially their deposits. It is a shame that homeaway.com allows these people to run such business utilizing this site. and unfortunate that we can not put theri names here. Keep away from them. Spent your money somewhere better. If you have been victim of a scam from this organization conatct homeaway or write them up wherever you can.

Wonderful compromise and excellent location !

We were very happy with our stay at this UsaParis apt. We had rented one of their apartments near the Eiffel Tower in November 2010 and it was a great experience too. For those who are traveling on a budget and want the maximum value for their money, these 2 apartments are definitively a great experience. This very particular area of Paris, called Butte Montmartre, is truly like a village in the center of the town, with tons of delicious food shops, wine shops, tons of cafes, restaurants, the best croissants and the best bakery of France ( as advertized on their window.. ) The people there are very happy and relax, so this became our preferred spot in Paris. The apartment itself is not recommended for overweighted persons, and for those who are expecting spacious rooms. First of all, in Paris everything is smaller, and second, this apt. is even smaller than the average, but for us it did not matter at all, and we knew that for that price we could not even get a decent 1 Bedroom. And yes, we had been informed by the UsaParis bookings staff about the size of the apt. and we had read their descriptions and the reviews here, which, for the most, are reflecting what we found.

Not at all as promised

Guest: Julie (Washington, DC)
Date of Stay: 03/05/11 Review Submitted: 04/22/11

These photos for this apartment were taken with wide-angle lens and bright light, completely distorting the proportions of the rooms. Note that this apartment is something like 500 sq feet. Also, the internet service had been turned off because of owner not paying bill. We also had no phone or tv service. The apartment smelled like a urine-soaked diaper the whole time we were there. We actually found one in the hamper during our stay. Was like the apartment had been hastily evacuated by tenant with child. The place was quiet except for one night when upstairs neighbors made major nighttime noise which was quite embarrassing to have to listen to.

Owner response:Thank you for your comments, I am sorry to hear that there was a baby diaper left. After investigating the previous tenant who had a baby had come back to change him after our cleaning team had done the job, without our permission, after they had not given the keys back to our agent. We have rented this apt. since 10 years with an overwhelming number of positive feedbacks, of guests who were well aware of the compact size of it, in proportion with the highly affordable cost of the accomodation for a 2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms.. We had had some misunderstandings about this in the past, therefore we placed all these disclaimers on our ads on VRBO and website, and our booking agents are systematically drawing the attention of our future guests about the issue. Therefore, since me made it so clear about the size of the apt,, we don't believe that your remarks about that particular issue are particularly relevant. As far as the disturbances of neighbors are concerned, we are sorry to hear that, these are tenants of another owner in the building, and we have filed a complaint to that owner and to the condo association. All in one, we had hundreds of bookings with this apt., very successful, and we are sorry to hear that your experience was not satisfactory.

Very pleasant stay in Paris, soft on the budget ....

We are 2 couples of seasoned travelers, and over time and experience, we came to the following criteria, when chosing a vacation rental : 1. The location must be in a place with many shops, restaurants, cafes, groceries, bakeries, art galleries, antique shops etc., all at walking distance. 2. public transportation must be plenty and nearby too 3. The apartment does not need to be large, but we don't want to spend hours waiting for the bathroom in the morning, nor go all the way to the laundromat to clean our clothes. 4. All of the above must be pleasant. Well, this is exactly what we found with this very smart compromise. We loved the fashion shops across the street, the art gallery around the corner, and the 3 bakeries nearby, all delicious. Within 20 yards, we had 2 nice restaurants and within 100 yards, they became countless. The Cafes rue des Abbesses are great. This is a very busy and trendy spot, still genuinely Parisian. With practically no cars around, it has an ambiance of village. It was very easy to visit the other sites with the bus and the metro. Bus 95 takes you to the Louvre in 15 minutes, Bus 80 takes you to the Champs Elysees, to the boat trips to the Eiffel Tower, and bus 69 takes you to Le Marais and the Latin Quarter. The metro station is a couple of minutes away too, but we preferred the busses, Gare du Nord - Eurostar to London - is at walking distance too. Usaparis, the management company, was very helpful. We had no light in the bedroom, and they came within 20 minutes after we called them to fix the problem. Their driver took us at Charles de Gaulle, helped us with our luggage and brought us right to the apartment. I would recommend this vacation rental without hesitation.

Wonderful location - Very smart compromise

We stood 10 days in that small but cleverly organized apt. We felt a good energy from the place, and were very happy to stay there. It's quite small, but has everything you need, and is wonderfully located, in an area of Paris beyond charming and romantic. It was priced half of the second one we booked also with UsaParis, located by the Eiffel Tower, with 2 bathrooms also, that was definitively of a superior category. We had searched for quite a while and no other owner could beat the special price we got for this apt. It had just been renovated, and also the facade and the courtyard. All in one, this apt. was a smart compromise for us to keep our budget within limits, despite the small superficy. The quality of the service of UsaParis was beyond expectation, all the way ! Friendly staff, perfect English, perfect knowledge of Paris, impeccable cleaning, always eager to assist. A successful experience, highly recommend !

Owner response:Hi Jody ! Thank you for your nice review. At UsaParis we try our best to have you guys enjoy your stay in Paris, and I am glad that you had a very nice stay. You told me that it was finally not a good decision to take the railway from the airport to the apartment, with all your luggage and the connections, and most of all the effects of the jet lag etc...Next time please contact me and I will organize a discount on our driver service that will go and pick you up at the airport and carry your luggage too. The place is only 20 minutes away from Charles de Gaulle by car, so this will be your best bet for next time ! Hoping to see you soon ! Sacha - UsaParis Florida PS : Greetings from Anthony too

Cozy and charming apt in a dream location

Guest: Cindy (Newark, New Jersey)
Date of Stay: 06/25/10 Review Submitted: 01/03/11

We had been a few times to Paris before and had visited this romantic area of Montmartre hill where all the great painters used to paint and live. We loved the atmosphere there, so we decided this time for this tiny 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apt. that was very budget-friendly, located right were we loved to visit earlier. This ended up being one of our nicest Parisian experiences. The apt was nicely decorated, very well equipped and comfortable for 2 couples. We had no issue with the second toilet located outside ! It was very small, though. The building is also small and quiet, and there is only one or 2 neighbors. The staircase needs some renovation. The street is typical from the area, with practically no cars passing. The beautiful and much visited grocery of Amelie Poulenc was our neighbor. The workshop of Picasso was also around the corner. In a radius of less than 100 yards we could find 3 bakeries with delicious French baguettes and croissants, multiple restaurants, cafes, fruits legumes, wine or fine cheese stores, italian, greek, french traiteurs, a metro station, a bus stop and much more. We liked the ambiance of The Place du Tertre nearby, with the painters painting their artworks in front of the tourists. It was also very easy to get to all the other major sites of Paris by bus or metro. I highly recommend this place for those who want to enjoy the best of Paris without hurting their budget. One recommendation: over-weighted persons are likely not to be comfortable in that environment.

Owner response:Thank you very much for your comments, they are up to the point ! At UsaParis we strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and Customer Service is our #1 priority. You definitively made a very good choice, and it was not an easy one ! This area is not as faous as the Latin Quarter or Le Marais, but for many of our customers, after experiencing it, it supersedes them without hesitation. We hope to see you back soon !

Very pleasant and inexpensive vacation in charming parisian district !

Date of Stay: 10/17/09 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

We liked the Amelie Poulenc and Butte Montmartre area of this apt, all was just there at our doorstep, restaurants, fine food stores, groceries, fruits and legumes, bakeries all over the place with nice french bread and succulent croissants and othe parisian specialties. It was also very easy to visit other sites of Paris by using the numerous bus lines around. The apt itself is small, just like our budget was, but with 2 separate (tiny!) bathrooms, and a separate second toilet just outside the apt, we could manage quite well, with our group of 5. We had rented a vacation apt. in Barcelona, just before, and we found out that it was very uncomfortable to have only one full bath for 5 people. So this was really OK, although not the perfect layout one may think of, and not recommended for over-weighted people. To find a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apt. in Paris is very hard, unless your budget is over EUR 300/night, which was not our case, so we ended up being very happy with this nice compromise. The apt. was looking like it had been recently upgraded, and also the building, but the entrance hall and the staircase definitively need some renovation works, which the owner said they were planning to do soon.

Separate WC

Guest: Cramped (Baton Rouge, La, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/01/09 Review Submitted: 04/11/09

The seperate WC is not located in the apartment. I assumed it would be and was disappointed to learn it was 1/2 flight of stairs down from apartment. Your alternatives are to walk through the 2nd bedroom (disturbing that sleeper) to get to the WC in the apartment, or unlock the door, go down the stairs and use the colder WC off the stairwell. Be sure to lock it because others use the stairwell. Not enough towels provided for 6 people.

Owner response:Mislaeading review, because there is only 1 occupant in that small building other than my apt. Therefore, the few steps from the entrance is really no big deal. This group was booked for 4 adults, not sure why they ended up with 6 persons ? The apt. is small but has a fantastic location. It is ideal for those on a budget becuase it offers 1 small full bath + a separate shower and a separate toilet, even though it's outside the apt.

Very good customer service provided. Great location. Appartment looks quiet different that on the pictures. The outside look of the building scares you off at first...but you get use to it. The bedroom in the back has a weird smell, had to burn lavender oil to be abble to sleep. The new bathroom is very cute, the kitchen is way too small but has everything you need. Had to wash some of the plates before using them as they had pasta and sauce sticked on it... The living room is very enjoyable as well as the front bedroom (very bright). The second bathroom which has the toilet is also very tiny. If you a tall or little overweight person you will probably not be abble to go to the washroom. I hope that in the future updates will be done in that place because it is really in a great location and the owers are great.

Owner response:The facade of the buyilding was entirely renovated in 2009 and the staircase are going to follow in the next months.

I spent New Years 07/08 in this apartment and it was the BEST location I could have asked for! The apartment's features (such as bathroom, kitchen) are on the small side if you're quite tall like myself but otherwise, completely enjoyable! The owner & caretaker are both extremely friendly & approachable with questions. Mr. V. spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me and several emails giving tips to make the trip a great time. I would definitely recommend it and would even stay there again myself. VERY fair price as well!

I am very pleased with my stay at 5 rue Androuet - where a colleague + I stayed 2 weeks. As we both carry a suitcase daily for work, it was great to be one short flight upstairs. Also, we had ample space to have separate quarters (him on pull-out sofa bed, me in the VERY COMFY double bed in the bedroom). Everything we needed in the kitchen and W/C was to be found. Great to have a tub, too, albeit a bit small if you are a taller person..Water pressure in shower very good as well. As for the surroundings, they couldn't be better. There are so many great restos nearby - Cafe Burq leaps to mind as very, very good (definitely get the baked brie appetizer)- plus others on Rue des Trois Freres, and of course shops: stinky cheese shop, butcher, pharmacie, superlative boulangerie/salon du the at the bottom of Passage des Abbesses: "Coquelicot". YUM! Also great dress shops and Nicolas (purveyor of wine), which is very important... Last but not least, the metro Abbesses is right there! Easy as can be.

Large apartment with plenty of room for two couples, or a palace for one couple. Great location in Montmartre, close to restaurants and the Metro. A small market steps away and a boulangerie around the corner. In the heart of it all. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place in Montmartre close to all the amenities.

This apartment provided everything we needed to spend a wonderful week in Paris, and then some. It was well-stocked, there was basic kitchen supplies already provided, maps and books and other useful items (like a major heavy-duty voltage converter) ready and waiting for us. Plus a stereo and a stack of great CDs, and free wireless for my laptop! The apt. has more space than might appear from the pictures, with lots of light. It was clean and neat (not immaculate) and well-secured, with a perfectly functional but teeny-tiny bathroom - it's a funky little apartment after all, not a 5-star hotel. But you wake up in the morning, open the shutters to look out on the art shops and the corner market (famous from the movie "Amelie"!) and local residents doing the same, it's exactly what I dreamed living in Paris would be like. We were VERY nervous about being in Paris for the first time (never visited France before, for that matter, and speak minimal French!) but the proprietor Peter and his relative Dominique answered all our questions, told us everything we needed to know, met us immediately upon our arrival, were exceptionally accommodating. I really can't say enough about how kind and helpful they were. And for that matter so was everyone we met, evenly the supposedly famously rude cafe waiters (they were efficient, not rude!) - trying to speak French when you can helps, but people were so gentle with us! The apartment has an ideal location on a side street that has very little traffic and noise (except for the locals enjoying a walk late at night after many bottles of incredibly good wine) but close to literally dozens of restaurants of every type and size and price range, including a fabulous patisserie and the Boulangerie a l'Ancienne where we quickly learned to queue up early to get our fresh bread and all manner of baked goods, quick meals and a huge bowl of excellent coffee. A lively neighborhood overlooking the whole city but where the tourists who climb the hill to see the Sacre Cour and Place du Tertre and maybe the Moulin de la Gallete all go back down the hill at night leaving this wonderful lively Parisian village all to ourselves. Fair Deal

Date of Stay: 08/01/07 Review Submitted: 12/19/07

One of the great assets of this apt. is that all the people associated with it are friendly and helpful. The owner, gives good, practical advice about ground transportation and has a solid network of relatives nearby the apt. who meet you to turn over the key and give advice about the appliances and the neighborhood. There is a little epicerie (grocery) down the stairs and just a few steps away. The grocer is very nice, and the epicerie was featured in the movie "Amelie." Neighborhood is safe, and the apt. is within easy walking distance to a metro station. However, owner needs to modify his apt. description. There is no "tiny 2nd bathroom avail June, 2007." We were there in August, 2007 and never managed to find it. Also, we were told, on arrival, that washing machine did not work, and there is no dryer. Even considering all the above, we enjoyed our stay and feel that the apt.is a good value for 4 adults. Would not recommend more than 4 to 5 adults staying there.

02/09/07 Positive We found this place enchanting. Decorated in good taste & beautiful colors, with the space very well used, and even works of art on the walls. Excellent quality bed, pleasant living room, exceptional location, fascinating district AND quiet street, and Amélie's grocery store is quite something! It gives a whole different angle on Paris. Peter and various family members were incredibly helpful and pleasant. We'd endorse all the comments already on the site, and are already planning another visit this fall, because it was so memorable last time. Many thanks! and congratulations on what you've created here... It's SO friendly, and much nicer than being in an impersonal hotel.

NOTE : My apt has been on the vacation rental market since quite a while, but this guestbook has been set up recently. Therefore I am adding some of the numerous feedbacks I got from my previous guests. Feel free to ask me their email addresses and phone numbers. Quite a number of my guests were new to Paris and to the Butte Montmartre area, and they actually contacted my previous guests before making their own decision. There is a tremendous diversity in Paris, and this is a place that people fall in love with, but because it is a personal experience and matter of taste, there is nothing better than other people's feedback to make sure that you will enjoy your stay.

04/23/07 Positive The apartment and neighborhood were great. We are a family of 5 and it was just the right size. The neighborhood has many wonderful restaurants, cafes and bakeries. I think we had the best croissants ever on Rue Lepic. We hope to return soon! Robin Weisman, Alexandria, VA

Life in a Parisian Neighborhood

Peter arranged for us to be picked up by the Blue Van and delivered right to his apt. door, which was very helpful but for those familiar with the Metro (or any subway system) the apartment is quite easy to get to from CDG airport by taking the RER B to Gare du Nord train station, walk underground to La Chapell & take the blue 2 line to Place Pigalle (and get out there if you want to see the Moulin Rouge!) then switch to the green 12 line for one stop up to Abbesses - such a cool station, exits into a little park with carousel! You can't go wrong with this truly charming, affordable, wonderful spot in the City of Light - when people say there's no place like Paris, believe me they are right!

We spent 6 days in this lovely Paris apartment, about 3 blocks from the Place du Tertre, the old artist quarter of Montmartre. 2 blocks from the Abbesses Metro station. The location is perfect, near shops, restaurants, lots of local color. The apartment is not modern "Holiday Inn" but that's not why you are going to Paris, is it? We always stay in condo/apartments when we travel and were pleased with this one. It has all the description says it has and we think you will be very satisfied.

My stay in Montmartre was wonderful. I was here for almost 3 months. Peter was very accomadating, and offered help whenever I needed it. The location was perfect, all my friends in Paris were jealous! The apartment itself if very comforatable, and everything that you might need is in it! I highly recommend renting from Peter, and plan on renting again next time i'm in Paris. Barry , Boston, MA USA

Positive we were a family with 4 children and the apartment was very convenient. it is located in a very silent street in Montmartre without any fear in the neighbourhood. I'd like to emphasize the great service we got from the owner before getting into Paris by many tips provided and also real help. Eliezer Zand , Israel

It truly was everything we had hoped for. Peter and Dominique were great to work with. The apartment was even better than we expected. The best part was the location. On the same street as the market in Amalie! Who could ask for more. Plus the easy walk to Sacre Coure and the Metro. We met the people that owned the gallaries across the street and they were fun and told us about places to go. It is a real neighborhood and we immediately felt right at home.

Owner response:Thanks Deb, you are welcome back any time !
