Watch the sunrise over the ocean or the sunset over the lake. A short five minute walk to the ocean or a two minute cart ride puts you on one of South Carolina's prettiest beaches.
Take advantage of the large decks to enjoy the outdoors without the sand. Fish in Magnolia Lake from your own backyard or choose one of the other 4 freshwater lakes. Take a short stroll to the beach or enjoy cruising around the park on a rented golf cart. Our large lot gives you room to breathe and provides plenty of parking in addition to the covered parking.
THE YELLOWBIRD is located in Ocean Lakes, a spectacular oceanfront, family-oriented, gated resort with 24 hour roving security patrol and amenities galore. Ocean Lakes was named the winner of the 2006 Governor's Cup for tourism and attractions, making it the top state attraction for 2006. Within the Resort, with its one mile of private beach, you will also find - outdoor olympic-size pool, indoor heated pool, kiddie action pool, miniature golf, recreation center with supervised daily activities, skate park, kids day camp (so Mom and Dad can have a day off), large arcade, surfing, oceanfront water slide, Bocci Ball, horseshoes, oceanfront basketball and shuffleboard courts, playgrounds, snackbars, wireless internet, shopping, grocery store, golf cart rentals, and more. Nearby you'll find water-skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, outlet shopping, amusement parks, cinemas, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, and all kinds of major attractions.
THE YELLOWBIRD is furnished with everything you would need at home including four TVs (one large-screened), wireless high speed cable internet, and an outdoor gas grill. The 2-zoned HAC provides plenty of indoor comfort in addition to all the overhead fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, glass-top stove and self-cleaning oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, filtered water at the kitchen sink, large side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with filtered ice & water in the door, blender, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric hand mixer, electric can opener, pots and pans, china and glassware, flatware and cutlery, pitchers, and baking pans. You will also find filtered water at the master bath sinks.
Bath towels are provided, but you will need to bring your own bed linens, beach towels, and paper products. Heavy-duty, extra-capacity Washer and Dryer are provided for your convenience. Laundry detergent and all cleaning supplies are also furnished. We have 2 hot water heaters so there is plenty of hot water for all those showers at the end of the day.
There are lots of tables, chairs, and loungers on the decks so you can enjoy the outside "at home" as well as on the beach. And for those chilly nights in the early spring or late fall, you can enjoy the warmth of two fireplaces.
There is a refundable $500 security deposit. Departure cleaning is included on weekly rentals. Hospitality tax of 3% will be added to all rental rates.
We will allow a small(under 15 pounds), adult, crate-trained dog for an additional fee of $100 plus a refundable $200 pet security deposit. Absolutely no cats!!
Cancellation/refund policy: Cancellations made more than 60 prior to the rental start date will be charged $150 processing fee. Cancellations made 35-60 prior to rental start date will be charged $150 processing fee plus 2 nights rental. There is no refund on cancellations made less than 35 days of the rental start date. There will be no refunds for bad weather. In the very rare event of a mandatory evacuation, we will prorate for the required days of evacuation.
Evictions will result in forfeiture of total rental amount plus security deposits.

I have been coming to Ocean Lakes since the first year it opened. When I married, this became one of our regular vacation spots. In 1979 we bought our first summer cottage here. Our children grew up spending many of their summer vacations in Ocean Lakes. In 2000, my husband and I retired here and built The Yellowbird as our permanent residence on the lake. Our kids and their college friends loved to come and visit us on the weekends. We lived in The Yellowbird for 5 years before moving, but we kept the house for weekend getaways with family and friends. Now we are renting it some so others can enjoy it too.

"The Awesome Yellowbird"

My sister and I and our families usually travel to Ocean Lakes 1-2 times a year and have stayed in several different homes which were always Ocean Front. But this September we decided to try something different. If you are "in love" with Ocean Lakes and looking for the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and its stresses, we highly recommend you stay at the "Yellowbird." The home is very clean and more than adequate in its amenities, and the location is fantastic! Our family especially enjoyed the wonderful, very large upper level deck that overlooked the beautiful picture perfect Magnolia Lake with its ducks and geese. We had the best of both worlds ... just steps from the lakefront and a distant view of the ocean. So peaceful ... it was as though you were looking into a postcard. And, "Miss Dawn", the property owner/manager, was the perfect hostess! She was so accommodating to our every need both before and after our arrival. Our little girls (pets) who travel with us really enjoyed themselves. They loved walking and running on the beautiful green grass in front of the house facing the lake with the lake breezes blowing in their little faces. They too enjoyed the great deck where they would lay in the sunshine and take their naps. This was truly one of the most restful and enjoyable vacation homes we have ever rented. We were sad to leave. You really do need to check this one out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband's family take a family vacation every year to the beach. This year 14 of us stayed at the Yellowbird in Ocean Lakes. It was PERFECT! The view was fantastic and we ate on the large, spacious deck for every meal. One morning, we were fixing smoothies with Dawn's blender when it died on us. We were so disappointed. I called Dawn (like she asks you to do any time something goes wrong) and within hours she had brought us a BRAND NEW blender! Too bad her name isn't Johnie. I started calling her "Dawnie on the spot" after that! The house was very quiet and the kids loved feeding the ducks and playing in the yard and on the deck. I also have to say that the outdoor shower was one of my favorite things. It was just a perfect vacation for a large family! A small family would totally love it too! What a peaceful week. I would recommend Dawn and Yellowbird any time.

AWESOME! This was our first family reunion in Myrtle Beach and most of the family were camping in their RVs so Ocean Lakes Campground was chosen. Since we do not camp, I scoured the rental homes nearby and was amazed to find condos and homes for rent INSIDE the campground! We chose Yellowbird because of the beautiful pictures, great reviews, personal contact & information from the owners, grassy backyard, location off the main roads, on Magnolia Lake and ocean view from the upper deck. Believe me, the pictures do not do this home justice and I don't think any other home could come close to the fabulous, homey, roomy, relaxing, quiet atmosphere of Yellowbird! The house was spotless upon arrival with a wonderfuly stocked kitchen with huge deck for entertaining. We met the owners and they are a wonderful couple who want your stay to be the best! They live close by and really take care of you. The gas grilled pooped out on us the first night and they brought a new grill to us immediately! The outdoor shower was fantastic....great for getting all the sand off before entering the house...a very large outdoor shower with a bench, a plus when coming in off the beach...Four bedrooms with 2 double and 2 twin beds in master with a large walk in closet that was big enough to store all of our clothes, luggage, and to use as a dressing room. This house is a MUST when considering a stay at Ocean Lakes. Ocean Lakes Campground is a very clean, secure, quiet, fun place to stay with private beach and lots of activities for all ages! We will come again. Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway. Our family vacationed at the "Yellowbird" the first week in Aug. 2010. We have stayed in different rentals at Ocean Lakes for about 14 years, almost always in the Holiday Inn Section. We thought it was the "closest to the beach and realtively quiet section". The Yellowbird beats Holiday Inn Section for us hands down. Short golf cart ride to beach and absolute quiet, like being at home. I didn't realize that there was an area in Ocean Lakes like this one. Myself, my husband, son, daughter in law, 3 granddaughters, niece and Razzle (bischon) loved this house. Loved the master and the large decks, used the gas grill (very convenient) twice. Great having shower on the ground level (large with bench). Great to have a yard with grass for Razzle. Kitchen well equiped, no negatives about this house. Met Dawn, know she would have taken care of any problems, but we didn't have any. Hope to rent this house again.

We have stayed at Ocean Lakes for our vacation the last few summers. I dont believe any other house in there can even come close to this one. You have to see this house for yourself......absolutely amazing. We had plenty of room, the house was spotless upon arrival, everything you would need for the kitchen was provided. The outdoor shower was amazing....great for getting all the sand off before entering the house...a very large outdoor shower with a bench, a plus when coming in off the beach...Bedrooms were great, we especially liked the large walk in closet in the master bedroom that was big enough to store all of our clothes, luggage, and was also used as a dressing room. We will rent this house again. I cant imagine staying in any other one. We met the owners and they are really great people. This house is a MUST when considering a stay at Ocean Lakes.

MY FAMILY AND I NORMALLY TAKE A RV TO OCEAN LAKES THIS YEAR WE RENTED A HOUSE AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID. THIS HOUSE THE "YELLOWBIRD" IS A WONDERFUL HOME PLENTY OF ROOM VERY VERY CLEAN IN A QUITE AREA. WE WERE RIGHT ON THE LAKE "WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SITE TO WAKE UP TO EVERY MORNING." FROM THE BALCONYS YOU CAN SEE THE OCEAN. YOU CAN FISH RIGHT OUT YOUR BACK DOOR. WE MEANT THE OWNERS VERY NICE AND VERY HELPFUL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE TO ANYONE. WE WILL GO BACK NEXT YEAR!! THE PICTURES ON THIS SITE DON'T DO THIS HOUSE ANY JUSTICE YOU JUST HAVE TO SEE IT! THIS HOUSE HAS EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED, EXCEPT YOUR FOOD AND WALMART IS ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS WAS A WONDERFUL VACATION FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.

My family and I stayed at the Yellowbird during the second week of June. The house was absolutely gorgeous and the lake being right behind the house was awesome!!! My husband, father-in-law and son-in-law enjoyed fishing in the lake as much or better than going down to the beach...lol!! There were 10 of us in our group and the house was plenty big enough for us all to have our privacy. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils and we enjoyed eating our breakfast and dinners on the deck overlooking the lake. A family of geese and ducks visited us every night and we fed them our leftover bread. The thing that we appreciated the most was the fact that we could bring our little dog with us. She loved the big backyard and riding on the golfcart!! We really liked the part of Ocean Lakes that the Yellowbird is located in. It's so peaceful and quiet in the evenings. I highly recommend the Yellowbird to anyone looking for a beautiful well maintained house for their next vacation!!! Thank you Dawn for sharing your wonderful piece of paradise with my family and I.
