Gorgeous view on the water's edge

We'll always have lovely memories of our two weeks at this cottage. We stayed here with our 10 year-old daughter while our older daughter was at the Maine Media Workshops. The drive to Rockport was a little bit longer than expected, but this was the perfect location for exploring Mid-coast Maine--close enough to major roads, but in a peaceful, pastoral, secluded setting right on the water. We kayaked, clamored over the rocks along the shore, rode our rented bikes to a nearby marina for penny candy and ice cream cones, and took day trips to Camden, Monhegan Island and Portland. It was always a pleasure to return to the cottage, light the gas fireplace to take off the chill, and spend the evening reading a good book while listening to the waves lap the shore outside. The bedrooms are spacious with huge windows overlooking the water. The kitchen is small, has a microwave and cooktop, but not an oven or dishwasher; but it was the perfect size to remind me to keep things simple! Jon and Lynn are great people and were very respectful of our privacy. This was our first time using vrbo and we can only hope any subsequent bookings will be as successful as this one.

... and in fact, extended my stay by a day. The view was magic, the calm waters of the inlet were perfect for swimming and kayaking across, the house was simple but comfortable. I especially loved the airy bedrooms upstairs. There's a peaceful serenity to the whole property -- with beautiful gardens, plenty of comfortable places to sit, read, or just take it all in, and lovely walking in the area. John and Lynn are easy-going and delightful, they made me (and my dog) feel right at home. Brunswick also yielded unexpected delights: a great meal at the Back Street Bistro, coffee and a bite at the relaxed and spacious Frontier Cafe, and a great walk/hike through the woods of the Town Common.

John and Lynn's guest house was everything it said it would be. It's a beautiful, secluded cottage that was in the perfect location for day trips to many Maine attractions. The cottage is exactly like the pictures. Lynn and John were so helpful and gracious. My husband, pre-teen son and daughter, and I stayed for a week the first of August. We didn't want to leave. We did day trips into Portland for the Portland Sunset Harbor cruise and a Sea Dog game. We made the comfortable drive to Acadia National Park for a day, absolutely beautiful. Freeport is also very close for a discovery school adventure with LL Bean. We were very glad that we had picked this place to stay after the hustle and bustle of some of the other towns we visited. Check out the Bodoin College Art Museum and Perry Museum only five miles from the cottage.

I just spent a week at this cottage, using it as a base for a family reunion in Brunswick. I was there alone for several nights, and then joined by two sons and my daughter-in-law. The cottage is exactly as described - located right on the water, attractively furnished, very well-equipped, comfortable beds and lovely linens. The kitchen is small but works well for breakfast, lunch and a simple supper. The view from the cottage is amazing - right on a spectacular tidal inlet with sweeping views of rugged Maine scenery. I would definitely go back. The owners are accommodating and available, but you have a great deal of privacy here. We loved it!!

When my wife and I wanted to re-visit Maine, we looked for a place that was centrally located to facilitate our exploring the south coast. Lynn's and John's cottage is it! Not only did it give us access to everything of interest in the area for our ten day stay, it made our stay quite comfortable. We were not disappointed to find that the pictures in the listing accurately portrayed the charm and sense of peace that we sought. The quite pleasant and serene location was exactly what we had been looking for. We enjoyed long walks in the rural setting of this quiet getaway. On the flip side was the cottage's proximity to every place, from Kennebunkport to Portland to Freeport to Boothbay Harbor to Rockland. Added to that was our host's wonderful hospitality. We truly felt like guests when we met John on our first day there as he explained all that was available for our comfort - from the hammock to the kayaks. Lynn was equally gracious in guiding us to local sights and longer road trips. Would I recommend this cottage to a friend? Absolutely! Thank you, Lynn and John!!
