Get away from the sardine canned condominium lifestyle and hurry up and wait atmosphere and come to where you only have to share the golden beaches and sparkling pools with just a few others. Relax in the shade of margarita lifestyle living--no stress, no hurry--a true get away from it all!
Located approximately 14 miles down Highway 180 from Gulf Shores is the Rookery, a brand new development of quaint cottages. It has two pools; (a large one with a tiki bar across the bridge and a smaller one just behind us). It also has an outdoor jacuzzi.
Our cottage is the first one as you enter which makes it the closest to the beach. Public beach access is across Fort Morgan Road. Turn right leaving the Rookery, go 1/2 block and turn left on Cortez. The beach is straight ahead. Total distance is approx equivalent of three city blocks.
There are two top rated golf courses within a few miles: Kiva Dunes and The Peninsula, and several more with driving range. Just down the road is Tacky Jacks (at the Fort Morgan Marina) which has great seafood and behind the Pines Grocery at Echols try their fantastic half-pound cheeseburger or delicious buffalo shrimp.
This unit is completely furnished in beach chic style comfort and freshness. It has one king-size bed, one queen-size, one set of twin beds and a queen-size sleeper sofa. All have great mattresses! There is no phone so we suggest bringing your cell.
There are two TV's connected to satellite with local channels available and a DVD player.
Each bath has a shower and tub. The kitchen comes with a full-size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave.
There is a washer and dryer.Dishes and linens are provided. Everything you need is within a few miles, so if you do not want to leave, you do not have to.
Long term rental rates are available.

The cottage was absolutely wonderful ~ Bright, clean, peaceful, and close to beaches with so few people they're almost private. The pools were great for evening swims & sitting on the porch in a gulf breeze was so relaxing. We're trying to plan for other times to go back and enjoy again!

We had a wonderful time. The house was very clean,equipped and plenty of room for 3 adults and 7 children that went with us. It was also no hassle with renting..(Thanks Ron)It was far enough away from all the traffic and close to the beach. We also enjoyed the zero entry pool. Count on us being a return guest.... our stay was from July 7th-11th

We found the house to be as advertised by the owner. It was a bargain as opposed to the on the beach houses. It was out of the way of city traffic (14 miles from Gulf Shores but near a great beach about 400 yards away). It was well furnished and the kitchen well equipped as a three bedroom 2 bath house with a nice laundry. The ceiling fans were nice to assist the air conditioning with the cooling. It was convenient to the beach and pool. It was in really good shape and spacious enough for our 5 adults and 4 small children. The owner is very thorough with details and things are as he says they will be. We were there in June 29 - July 6,2009.

Russ and I had a great 2months here. We felt like we were at home We stayed the whole month of January and February. 2008. The owner was very helpful in everyway. Our dog just loved walking everyday. We would recommend it to anyone to stay here.

We loved the cottage. The kitchen was well furnished/equiped for those who like to stock up and cook. The owner provided several excellent suggestions for great seafood places; my favorites were King Neptunes, Gulf Shore Steamers, and Tacky Jacks. My two dogs loved the placed also and were a bit upset when the suitcases came out to be packed to leave. The owner did not advertise wireless internet, but we were able to get a strong wireless connection on our laptop. While walking the dogs, we discovered a lovely small pond with cat-tails that had a single small 4-5 foot gator; we found him entertaining to watch. If we were to stay in Fort Morgan again, we would stay here again.

We had an awesome time in July 2007 and absolutely loved this cottage. This cottage was even cuter than the pictures on line, and all of us, 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby, were quite happy with it. The owner was fantastic at meeting our needs and beyond. If we have another reunion in the area, we would definitely consider going back.

We stayed at this cottage during Spring Break. We had a very nice time. Cottage was very clean and as described by the owner. The cottage is very conveniently located to the two pools in the Rookery. It is a short drive or you could walk across the road to the beach (go up Cortez road). We cooked out at the BBQ grills by the pool one night - fun. The family and the puppy had a great trip!
