Just enjoyed 4 relaxing days at Casa Flamboyan to round out a great 1st trip to Mexico. This house is very conveniently situated between town for restaurants and the great beaches of Castille de Garaffon & Playa Lancheros. Enjoyed Casa Flamboyan immensely!

The accommodations, the island, the food, the people, the time alone was exactly, (if not more) than we had been looking for. Although the heat and humidity may keep people away this time of year, the trade off of no crowds, superior-bend over backwards service, peace, and tranquility was well worth it. A dip in the pool or the ocean was all one needed. What a way to celebrate our 30th Anniversary! Thanks to you and Lupe for your attention to detail and accurate representation of your accommodation.

We were fortunate enough to spend 2 weeks on this wonderful island, and in beautiful Casa Flamboyan! The Real apartment was perfect! There are so many places to hang out - the roof, poolside, our large deck with a view of the bay and sunsets, or our ocean front balcony with sunrises. We love how you can see water and the ocean from anywhere in the apartment! The place is spotless from top to bottom, thanks to Lupe's consistency & thoroughness. The high ceilings make the place spacious, and the natural light - even a skylight in the bathroom! - is wonderful. We spent much of our time here reading, swimming, relaxing. It is a nice short distance from downtown - close enough to walk, far enough to enjoy quiet. We rarely took a cab. and only rented a golf cart for 3 days. The walk home along the Malecon was nice after a large dinner! The island itself was wonderful. We marveled at how safe we felt walking home each evening - not sure we would have felt that way in Cancun. The island and Casa Flamboyan were a memorable experience we want to repeat.

Today isw the last day of our sojourn in Mexico - and a bittersweet one. When we planned our vacation here last year we wanted countryside (Campeche), city (Merida), and coast (Isla). We have visited Isla on and off over 15 years and have found it to be the one place my husband and I could really relax and have fun. This deepened our connection to the island, and the house in particular was instrumental in allowing us the space to contemplate memories, and most of all to feel restored. The daily sunrises and sunsets were a powerful reminder of life's natural rhythms and the Caribbean was alternatively wild and soothing, but oh so constant. Richard and Harriet, I know you know this, but your house is so special. We leave here having gathered strength and courage, we know this is only temporary. We'll certainly be back.

We couldn't have asked for a better vacation than the one we had here! Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was pure bliss...and romantic! We rented bikes and toured the island...A "must do" in my book. Just bring plenty of water and take a "SOL" break over by Castilla de Garrafon. Spent many lazy mornings combing the beach in front of the house for sea glass which I treasure like gems, as they are hard to find in the USA. Went to Playa Del Carmen for a day to do some shopping. It's a very easy trip - ferry - taxi to Cancun Bus terminal - 1 hr trip on bus. Great souvenir hunting, but very crowded and you see US prices - no wheeling and dealing. We had fun doing our tourist thing. Favorite restaurants were - Valesquez - great food seaside & cheap - Olivia's - Middle Eastern food...YUM!

We spent the first half of our belated honeymoon at Casa Flamboyan, and couldn't have been happier. It's a nice distance from downtown, allowing for a nice walk to Playa Norte. Flamboyan is exceedingly large, comfortable, and has a nice Mexican feel along with some charming quirks. The open concept shower is very cool and good clean fun. The proximity to the ocean and the amazing views are all anyone should hope for. Richard & Harriet are very good hosts, and the wee touches such as the cold beer awaiting you in the fridge are greatly appreciated. If you are looking to spend quality romantic time with some lucky other, but want to be close to the downtown amenities, this is it!

This was our 7th time in Mexico/ 4th time in Yucatan/ Mayan Rivera, but Casa Flamboyan was by far the best place we've ever stayed - close enough to town to be walkable & convenient, yet lots of quiet and privacy too. All the amenities you could hope for (LOVE the blazing fast & ever on internet!) And not one, but two GREAT WATER VIEWS whether one looked east or west! Loved falling asleep & waking up to the sound of the ocean, & breakfast on the balcony, watching the waves. They are truly mesmerizing, I could watch them forever!!! The shower in Real is delightful! We have fallen in LOVE with Casa Flamboyan and Isla Mujeres. We will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed this private, well equipped, and relaxing environment. The outdoor spaces are sublime and the open shower was good clean fun! You know you've chosen the right rental property when after a brief road trip (2 nights in Tulum) we actually had that warm feeling that we were coming "home" to Casa Flamboyan. You contributed to our fabulous honeymoon!

Casa Flamboyan is so nice I almost don't want to share it!! After doing some research (we were "newbies" to Isla) and reading the "unofficial" Isla blog we decided to split our vacation and stay in town and stay on the ocean if we could. Staying on Hidalgo was interesting but we LOVED staying at Casa Flamboyan. As everyone who stays there says, it's all about the sunrise and the sunset. It's about the refreshing pool that my husband enjoyed almost daily, It's about the interesting architecture of this house along with the owners great but not invasive decorating taste. It's about the lovely bedroom. It's about the lovely shower overlooking the ocean. Harriett provides some special touches that everyone comments on -- the coffee, eggs, tortias provided (and nice dinnerware and glasses to go with). There are even thick towels along with beach towels and a towel warmer in the bathroom. Do we have any suggestions? Not really (but a t.v. would help for those of us who like to catch the news in the evening)! Oh, and not one single problem with the wireless internet. The housekeeper, Lupe, is such a sweetheart. I could fill up an entire page with adoration for this little bundle of energy. We never wanted for anything, really. We rented a golf cart for our stay there so had a chance to explore the southern part of the island as well. Will we go back? Absolutely! We still have many more restaurants to hit, some of the northern beaches to explore, more beach glass to find, a visit to Zama's and Lolo's to look forward to. The list goes on and on. And Casa Flamboyan is definitely on the top of our list, Thanks Harriett and Richard. You have a very special place indeed.

I stayed for 12 days as Casa Flamboyan - one week with my daughter and one week on my own. The apt was everything I hoped it would be. A deck to watch the rising sun, a deck to watch the sunset, a well designed and very wonderful apt - natural building materials, very clean, very well decorated, a fully equipped kitchen, a few hammocks, a pool, steps down to the ocean for great morning or evening walks and fabulous shell searching, 10 minutes to town and 15 minutes to North Beach - throw in two well informed and friendly hosts and of course Lupe who makes sure you have everything you need whenever you need it - oh yes and the roof deck - great for star watching. This is the perfect place for those looking for some quiet time but who also want to be close to great restaurants, beaches and all the other activities. Really cant say enough about the experience - from the ambiance to the functionality of the apt all was great.

Upon entering Casa Flamboyan my first thought was, "I never want to stay in a hotel again." Especially on Isla, a vacation rental is the way to go and Casa Flamboyan is perfect. Even the shower is ocean front. The pics on line don't do it justice. You have a private bedroom with a huge comfy bed and a separate, private kitchen and sitting area. Casa is in a great area, right along the rocky shore but only a short golf cart ride or walk from downtown and North beach. T Comforting and location are must haves on a vacation but this rental also holds several intangible surprises that make it memorable. I was definitely sad to leave and hope to return soon. This place is perfect for a couple in need of relaxation and privacy. It would also be a nice rental for two couples who want to travel together but want the privacy of there own space as they could rent both apts. together.

Our time at Casa Flamboyan - Azul exceeded our expectations. The views of the bay off the front deck and the open ocean off the back deck kept drawing us...to watch sunrises and sunsets, to share drinks or a meal, to just relax in the breezes and watch the birds, waves, boats, and tide do their things! Shell hunting rewarded us daily. And we returned from day trips around the island and to Cancun and beyond, knowing that the pool was going to cool and soothe us. Plus, the bed was THE MOST comfortable king we've slept in in all our many travels! The staff were friendly and always helpful. The owners anticipated our needs and were exceptionally thoughtful and kind. We strongly recommend the one-bedroom apartment for couples wanting some quiet time for themselves as well as a good base from which to visit the sights around Isla (the walk into town and to the North Beach is an easy one; a golf cart or motor scooter works well for getting to the south end of the island and the ferry is easy to catch for day trips to the Mayan ruins, Cancun, etc). If you go, we strongly recommend dinners at Casa O and at Olivia's...beautiful settings and especially delicious food. These were but two of the restaurants recommended by the owners, who provide pages of advice for travelers about living easily on the island.

The closest thing to a downside would be the mile plus walk into town (we love it). Other than that, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Full kitchen, living room, nice bedroom and I love the shower. Right on the ocean with rooftop views that will knock your socks off. The owners have a book of recommendations for restaurants and bars, and they are right on the money. Isla Mujeres is my favorite place in Mexico, and Casa Flamboyan makes it even better.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Flamboyan in November. We were sorely in need of a relaxing get away. We found exactly what we were looking for in Isla Mujeres, at Casa Flamboyan. The sounds of the sea lulled us to sleep each night. Many a coffee and cocktail were had on our own private balcony over looking the sea. It was simply wonderful!. The house has a fully equipped kitchen and came stocked with a few essential items, like our first morning coffee and milk and a couple of cold beers to ease our way into vacation land. I would highly recommend a stay at Casa Flamboyan to wash your troubles away.

Thank you for a beautiful home to spend our first time on Isla! The views are great! Its been quite a different experience from the "all inclusive"! Found lots of good food...loved the great places to eat and the folks who work at them...so much personality! We had a golf cart part of the time and had a ball discovering the fantastic island.

My husband and I visited the Isla in August for our honeymoon. We stayed for ten night on Isla Mujeres at Casa Flamboyan. Let me tell you...what a treat! Not only did we have an excellent balcony overlooking the beach, but a rooftop view complete with chairs to watch the sunset everynight. Casa Flamboyan also includes an infinity pool that is located on the lower level and it is just perfect for moonlight swims and midday siestas! I really appreciated Casa Flamboyan's location on the island. It was just close enough to everything without being located smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the North side of the island. I will definately being going back sometime in the future! Richard and Harriet, the owners of Casa Flamboyan, treated my husband and I great and they even picked up a few food necessities for our first breakfast which was appreciated greatly. If you are looking a family gathering or a romantic getaway, Casa Flamboyan is perfect!

We spent the last four of a fourteen day trip down the Riviera Maya all the way to the Belize border. We stayed in five different places. Everything about Casa Flamboyan is comfortable.....from the beach towels, to the fully equipped kitchen, the Ray Charles CD and boombox, the infinity pool overlooking the crashing Caribbean, etc. It was just perfect for my husband and I. The location is out of the way a bit, but you can leisurely stroll into Centro, take a cab for less than $1.50, or stick your thumb out when someone goes by in a golfcart (a most excellent way to make new friends, by the way). It rained while we were here off and on for two days, but so what! We didn't need to go anywhere with all the comforts that were here. We loved the roof and pool at night. The very best part of our stay was the fact that we were the only ones here, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Thank you for creating such a lovely space to share with others! We will definitely return!

I needed to escape the New York cold and found this little, well-reviewed gem on TravelAdvisor. Having been to Isla once before, I knew that I didn't want to spend my time in the heart of downtown, didn't want to encourage any semi-resorts (a couple have popped up recently), and was willing to walk a bit as needed. We landed, unpacked, planned to go to the beach, but the ocean calm, the soft zephyr, and the cozy bed lulled us to sleep -- a deep, profound sleep (the kind that are a rare occurrence in NY). The place is beautifully appointed, affords majestic views of both sunrise and sunset, and the owner (Harriet) is every bit as gracious as she is helpful. The chips, salsa, frijoles, OJ, beer to "get us started" and free (perfectly functional) WiFi were nice, unexpected treats. And, yeah, it feels plenty safe -- especially with passports and cash in the deposit box. Really nothing negative to say. The walk into town (~15 mins, half of which is along a beach embarcadero) tires the feet in flip-flops; but it's a trade-off I'm willing to make for the calm that the distance provides. It's by no means too far for any reasonably active person to do on a daily basis (and if it is, a $2 taxi will swoop you -- they seem to pass every 3-10 mins). Lovely stay, highly recommended, intend to stay there if ever I return!

We arrived midday from cold & blustery New York and within minutes, the sound of the waves and the fresh breeze lulled us to sleep. Definitely one of my best naps ever! Upon awakening Isla Mujeres offered all of the activities I wanted - sunning at Playa Norte, diving at Machones Reef, eating along Hildago and the bay, and strolling along the Malecon. lovely lodging, gorgeous sunrises & sunsets, just far enough from the action, and we loved the little touches (mood lighting, OJ in the fridge, shower tiles, skylights). Thanks for the fond memories!

Our recent trip to isla mujeres was spent at the beautiful Casa Flamboyan. It was great to fall asleep to the sounds of waves as they curled just outside our door. The casa is architecturally beautiful and we loved the excellent sunset and moonrise views. We would definately recommend it to our friends!!! * Liked — ocean front and full kitchen and close to town

We were so tired when we arrived we were so grateful to see that the caretaker was there waving at us from the above level of this beautiful property. We climbed the stairs to the second floor and were greeted by our host who waved us in to the apartment. We were in awe, walking through such a fabulously decorated living room with the kitchen. My husband and I both did a beeline towards the frig “Do you have anything to drink?” we questioned eagerly after not having anything to drink after the flight and ferry ride…We were damn thirsty. Yes, there was two beers in the frig. Husband and I shared half a beer immediately and smiled to the caretaker that we were not we were not lushes (that we might prove to be later). Perfect. The owners had graciously left coffee, sugar, four eggs, a pint of mango juice, a stick of butter and soft tortillas as well as hard tortillas with a can of salsa. This simple consideration would prove to be perfect for breakfast when I would use the tortillas warmed seconds in the microwave with butter and jam I had purchased at the PDX airport. 10 seconds to yummy. The most delightful thing this caretaker could say to us “You will be here alone and not disturbed for the days that you are here (3) unless call and need us otherwise”. We would have the place to ourselves. Being pretty private people we were thrilled. So we plunged into the pool in the morning after looking for shells, danced in the living room to Sade at night after a bit of Tequilas, from the stereo that had cds that were well appointed to the mood. The beauty of this property is that we were without want. Our expectations were beyond fulfilled. I remember thinking when we first looked about our new dwelling, knowing we were heading to Puerto Morelos for our second half of our trip, that” , wish were just staying here! “ “When is the last time your toes touched the earth”? My friend used to ask me, after I had lost balance with myself. It was great to feel the grains of sand underfoot after so long. The Flamboyan?

My wife and I just returned from our 1st year anniversary and stayed in this quaint and cozy villa that was everything we expected plus a personal touch. The owners Richard and Harriet were exceptoinally hospitable and friendly. From the moment we arrived we felt they opened their door to us and helped in any way they could. The room was spacious with all the amenities one could want in a vacation villa. It is within walking distance to downtown where all of the resturaunts/shopping is. The front and back balcony is perfect for taking pictures and relaxing. This place was clean and priced just right. Will definitely stay there again.

The accommodations were delightful. Porches on the oceanside for sunrises and the sound of the surf and on the bayside for sunsets with hammocks and a table for cocktails. Breezes move pleasingly through. Nicely appointed with tile floors and shower, stucco walls and native woods - including strangler fig vine porch posts. The horizon pool was indulgently satisfying with its view to the waves rolling onto the limestone beach below. A short walk or cab ride into town for excellent seafood, beaches and shops or to rent a boat and crew for snorkeling and lunch of fresh fish on a beach. The rooms were outfitted with everything. The kitchen had all that was needed if we wanted to prepare our own food. A completely relaxing tropical vacation environment. I look forward to returning.

Gorgeous views front and back. Hop, skip, and a jump away from town - you could walk it, or cab it (cab is like $2 for as many as you can pile in the cab). The house has very tasteful decor - very comfy surroundings, plenty of space, all the comforts of home - only on vacation scale. The island has a lot of culture to offer. We have been there 3 years in a row, our 4 kids range from 2-19 - and each of them got something out of the trip - and they all loved the house. The main road can be noisy at times during the day, but when you are poolside - who cares - you can't hear it cause the sound of the ocean drowns out all of civilization - just the way we like it! Anyone staying here - will not be disappointed!

I met a long time friend at Casa Flamboyan for a week of catching up, snorkeling, fish tacos & cerveza. Our trip could not have been better. Casa Flamboyan is ideally located on Isla - close enough for an easy walk to the ferry or town, but in a quiet residential neighborhood. It's on the skinny part of the island. What this means to visitors is fabulous, but very different, views from the front and back of the house. The front balcony overlooks the boats and frigate birds of the Bay of Mujeres; a limestone beach and uninterrupted turquoise sea are all you can see from the back. We stayed in Azul, one of three apartments that make up the house. Everywhere we looked was something beautiful - the furniture, the art, but most of all the design of the place - check out the pictures on the Casa Flamboyan website, they speak for themselves. The roof hammocks, balcony, and pool are common areas for everyone and great places to hang out. There are all the conveniences too - A/C, complete kitchen, plenty of hot water to get that salt out of your hair, etc. Wish I were there right now....

My husband and I stayed at Casa Flamboyan July 2007. This place is absolutely fabulous! It is a two bedroom house downstairs with two one bedroom apartments upstairs. We stayed in one of the apartments, large and nicely appointed, everything you might need is provide. On the front of the property, upstairs is a large covered patio with tables/chairs and hammocks, perfect for watching the sun set and enjoying cocktails. It is close enough to town for shopping and restaurants... but quiet and peaceful at nighttime. Casa Flamboyan sits on Airport Strip Rd overlooking the beautiful turquoise Caribbean. There was always a wonderful sea breeze flowing through the back doors that opened to our private balcony. We sat for hours reading and listening to the crashing waves. Most mornings we awoke early to watch the sun rise up out of the ocean, simply breathtaking. Overlooking the Caribbean downstairs is a shared patio and infinity pool, great furniture for relaxing, including a table/w chairs for seaside dinning. I spent most of the day relaxing in the pool while my husband dozed in the hammock! Needless to say it was very hard to leave this beautiful place. We are planning a return this July. * Liked — Peace & quite, private, clean, close to town and Playa Norte

You never know what to expect when you book your vacation condo on the internet. We were thrilled when the taxi pulled up in front of Casa Flamboyan and we were shown to our condo by Richard, the owner. Lovely condo, with views of the sunrise and the sunset. We enjoyed our coffee daily watching the sunrise from our balcony outside the bedroom. Evenings, we held happy hour on the other balcony, facing the bay and watching the sunset. The kitchen was fully equipped. A short walk into town for groceries and fresh orange juice, and we were set. The infinity pool was crystal clear and refreshing. Right on the beach, we walked daily finding shells and sea glass. This was truly one of our best vacations ever, and we plan to return.

Casa Flamboyan on Isla Mujeres is everything we hoped for. This was our 3rd trip! Sunrise on the Carribean right out back, and Bay of Mujeres sunsets out front! Perfect location to walk into town, or $2.00 cab rides will get you any place you want to go. Accommodations are artful, comfy, and and spacious. Attention to detail in architecture makes Casa Flamboyan a delight. Enjoy the view from the infinity pool out back or from the hammock under the rooftop palapa. No TV's just spectacular views and and colorful Isla Mujeres await you!!! We'll be back again!
