About the owner: Wendy and Graham bought this 16th Century Manor House and Barns to renovate and have used their extensive experience to create a welcome, comfortable home from home.
Wendy worked as a Fashion Buyer for over 20 years and then spread her talents to Buying Home furnishings, Interior Design and property Developing. She was even filmed for Homes under the Hammer BBC TV.Graham worked for the BBC for 25 years as a Director of Photography and Freelance when Film Unit closed. Graham's artistic talents have been invaluable in the restoration work. We are now very proud grandparents and our children/grandchildren have been very much involved in the preparation of the Manor for our guests, trying to get a perspective from all ages.
Why the Owner Chose Ipplepen: We used to have a small holiday apartment in Bigbury on Sea, so we knew this area, and loved it. Dartmouth, Salcombe, Hopes Cove and Bigbury have been holiday destinations for our family for years. The property came up at Auction and was in a sorry state.
We wanted to breathe new life into the property and gives others a chance to enjoy the ambience of this beautiful old building.
Don't worry all mod cons in this old property!
The Unique Benefits at this Barn: There is a Magic about the place. It is very large. The barns are enormous. It resembles a French Manor House, and we have just added a beautiful 60 year old Olive Tree to our Courtyard which adds a softer touch to the beautiful solid stonework of the buildings.
It is a long journey renovating a property like this and all the money from the holiday bookings are going back into the property, so you are helping a part of old England to be restored by staying here.
