New Mexico Vacation Rental

The Hacienda on the River Dixon, New Mexico Vacation Rental by Owner Listing 86653

Location: Dixon, New Mexico, USA (30 minutes south of Taos - 45 minutes north of Santa Fe)

Accommodations:  Executive House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 4 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)

The Hacienda is almost 4,000 square feet of luxury nestled between the towering red Cerro Avajo Mountain, the Embudo River and an orchard standing over a carpet of lavender. On the property we grow eight varieties of lavender between rows of beautiful apple trees.

The house features a large gourmet kitchen equipped with a commercial Wolf range and a griddle big enough to make pancakes for your next family reunion or wedding party. There are numerous dining options in addition to the dining room and kitchen bar. Sitting on the patio beside the river for breakfast, enjoying lemonade on the riverside hot tub deck or sipping tea for two out front beside the lavender field.

The house has four bedrooms, including a childrens room complete with bunk beds, two full baths and two half baths. All four bedrooms overlook the Embudo River and are connected by a large deck that wraps the entire back side of the house. There is a quaint Library on the second floor and a TV area off the main living space downstairs. Fresh brewed coffee or herbal tea with breakfast foods are available upon request.

The Hacienda is located between Santa Fe and Taos on the Embudo river in the upper Rio Grande valley. White water rafting down the Rio Grande Box is eight miles away, and hikers/bikers will enjoy long trails of protected wilderness just outside the front door. Ancient Indian pueblos, museums, restaurants and culture are a short, scenic drive away. Explore Taos (20 miles north) via the high road or Santa Fe, just 45 minutes away. The artists’ community of Dixon is one mile east and offers two wineries, a weaving gallery, Co-op grocery, and fine library with DSL internet access.

The Hacienda offers year round beauty. Spring starts with apricot and apple blooms and a riot of colored tulips. Summer fills the air with blooming lavender, mint, and the occasional afternoon thunderstorm. In the Fall you can snack on raspberries, sun-ripened grapes and fresh cider beneath towering cottonwood trees as they shimmer golden yellow against the bright blue sky. Winter offers downhill and cross-country skiing and sledding at numerous locations within 45 miles. Enjoy trout fishing, sunbathing on the hot tub deck, bird-watching, or plein aire painting.

The hot tub is always ready for a soak and will comfortably seat six adults. A Vermont Casting wood stove coupled with the solar radiant floor heat will keep you warm at night. Bring your best recordings to play on the stereo or enjoy the VCR/DVD player TV from the built-in banco couch.

Within walking distance is a local winery and chocolatier. Sugar’s Bar-B-Que Grill and Sugar Nymph’s Restaurant are a few minutes away by car. Travelers with horses will appreciate the equine accommodations and generous turn out that are available. Riding trails into the BLM lands and national forest are minutes away.
