Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1977
La Maison Canadienne was bought by my parents Don and Phyllis Ketcheson as a vacation property in the late 1970's. My father gutted the entire house and had contractors over several years restore the interior. We spent 6 months as a family in a rental cottage in 1977 to allow time to work on Pradine house - My father spent a lot of time building a stone terrace which is still in use today. Many friends and family have visited over the years. In the late 80's we started renting the house out to tenants.
Why the Owner Chose St-andre-de-najac
Aveyron region at that time was undiscovered and very rural which we enjoyed. Such a nice change from living in downtown Toronto, Canada.
The Unique Benefits of this Farmhouse
The view of the Viaur valley out the windows of the house and terrace are superb, especially first thing in the morning with the mist rising. We enjoy long lunches on the terrace in the sun or under the shade of some huge trees. The people are friendly and wonderful as well and nice to see working family farms still in existence. The region has lots to offer in outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, kayak and canoeing. Plus the medieval towns within an hours drive in all directions are just amazing - you just have to see them for yourself - words cannot describe them.
