A Holiday looking for Art and History: Agriturismo Villa Selvatico is the perfect location if you look for a cultural holiday in Veneto Region: this ancient beautiful Villa lies infact at short distance from Padua (12 km), one of the most important Art City in the Northern Italy. Many important artists, such as Giotto, Donatello and Mantegna, worked in its churches and palaces, and the second University of Italy, where Galileo Galilei used to be a professor, was founded here in year 1222. Padua is also the city of Saint Antony, with its famous Basilica, destination of pilgrims from all over the world.
Villa Selvatico is also at short distance from Venice (30 km, by car or train), from Vicenza (30 minutes by car), Verona and Treviso (45 minutes by car). Everyday you can enjoy one of these beautiful art cities and start to appreciate the art and history of this interesting Region, beginning to understand the culture that expressed in the past centuries architects as Palladio, painters as Canaletto or poets as Petrarca.
Relax and fun for the family: Agriturismo Villa Selvatico is also a perfect location for families looking for a relaxing holiday in the countryside.
Despite of the short distance with a pretty big city as Padua, Villa Selvatico is still a quiet location in the countryside of Veneto: a large farm managed since more than 60 years by the da Porto family surrounds the Villa giving our guests the silence and tranquillity that they need to sleep and relax after a busy year of work. A beautiful open air swimming pool, surrounded by the large garden, is open from May to September and gives the place a even more appealing look.
Sunbeds are sited also all over the big garden, giving the chance to enjoy the ancient park with its secular trees also to those that prefer a more lonely corner to relax.
Children and parents can easily enjoy the open space, the pool, the table tennis, or take a bicycle ride on the new cycle track along the Tergola River, the natural border of Villa Selvatico's gardens.
A long holiday or just a weekend?: Villa Selvatico is a perfect place for your holidays, giving you the chance to relax and rest, such as to visit the Region and its art spots, during your main holiday. But this place is perfect also for a shotbreak during the year, a romantic weekend with your partner, a 2-3 days stop to recharge your batteries and explore this part of Italy.
Villa Selvatico gives you the required comfort and tranquillity even for a few days.
The airports of Venice and Treviso are the closest ones (30-45 minutes by car), and the are connected daily with all the important European airports, both by low cost and traditional airlines.
We suggest the use of a car to come here easily and to have a chance to visit the surroundings, anyway a taxi service from and to Venice Airport is also available.
The main railway station of this area is in Padua, that is connected with all the other important stations in Italy.

Everything was wonderful. La Serra is actually an old freestanding building which has been remodeled with all the modern amenities, while retaining it's old world charm. It is on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible. Antonio was charming, friendly and very helpful. The grounds, the birdsong, the pool, the stream, the beautiful trees and flowers made it difficult to leave. You do need a car, but we were close to a train for our day trip Venice. Padua, Verona, Lake Garda and many more beautiful areas are close enough for day trips. Antonio had maps, directions, recommendations for restaurants and other information well organized in a binder. When my husband pulled a muscle, he arranged for a massage in a nearby town. Thank you, grazie, merci AntonioRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Antonio da Porto is the owner of this beautiful and charming Villa. He is the descendant of an illustrious and ancient family of Vicenza, whose members belong also Luigi da Porto, knight, historian and poet who wrote in the year 1517 the short story 'Romeo and Juliet', from which Shakespeare drew inspiration for the most famous tragedy of all time. Antonio and his family have undertaken since 1980 a work of painstaking restoration of Villa Selvatico, which is dating as construction back at the end of 1400. During the last 15 years, 5 apartments have been obtained from the ancient and historical spaces of the Villa, that since 1997 accommodates guests from all over the world.
Why the Owner Chose Padova:
This place has been Antonio's family house since his childhood. During the recent years Antonio and his family have come to realize that the special beauty and atmosphere of this historic place could be shared with many other people. Over time, the appreciation that the guests of Villa Selvatico have shown for this place, have encouraged the family from Porto to proceed on this path of enhancement and recovery of the historical buildings, in order to let all the travellers and tourists enjoy this little piece of Italian art and history.
