From this incredible and unique vantage point you’ll face both the McNab’s Island lighthouse and Halifax’s gem in the city, Point Pleasant Park. Located on a quiet road 10 minutes to downtown Halifax in beautiful Ferguson’s Cove, this three bedroom house has all you could ask for and more.
It is peaceful and private with all modern conveniences and has the most breathtaking views. Enjoy the walking trails at nearby York Redoubt, a Parks Canada National Historic site, or sit back and watch the cruise ships enter the harbour from either the first or second floor balconies.
This house has been newly renovated and is gorgeous! It is in a very unique and private setting, on a bus route, minutes from a National Park and close to all amenities. The home is tastefully furnished and equipped with TV, stereo, DVD player, washer and dryer, BBQ, a fully equipped kitchen, extra linens and towels, books, magazines, movies and just about anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We can easily accommodate six or eight people with three queen sized beds and a pull-out sofa bed in the den. It is ideal for large or extended families, for three or four couples, visiting academics, corporate travelers, conference attendees or those working in Halifax on a short-term basis. The two-story, three-bedroom, 1½ bath, smoke-free house is bight and sunny, has spectacular views from the living room, dining room and all three bedrooms. The bedrooms all are equipped with bedside tables, lamps, chests of drawers, closets, bookshelves and books. The back of the house faces a private semi-wooded garden.

Why the Owner Chose Halifax
We own a number of properties but The Captain's Quarters is the only one that we run as a vacation rental. The location is spectacular and we bought the property with the idea that we would live here once our kids have grown. We live in the neighborhood and love it here. Ferguson's Cove is like living in the country but so close to the heart of the city. Perfect!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Almost all of our guests have seen whales from the front deck of the house. I have been asked why I don't highlight the whales on the website. Unfortunately I can't guarantee whales!
Folks also tell us again and again that my description doesn’t do the house justice (tells you about my writing skills!)
When guests arrive, we usually leave the door open for them to go in and make themselves at home before I come down to greet them. I’m sure this has thrown a few folks for a loop being unaccustomed to Down Home hospitality.
The Halifax metro Centre is in the heart of Downtown accross from Grand parade. This marker shows the house in relation to downtown.

We are Lara and Brett Ryan. I am a business consultant specializing in corporate social responsibility and Brett is a professional musician who also develops properties. We have spent the past decade or so restoring old Victorian buildings around Halifax as well as pursuing our professional passions and raising our family.
