Fall Getaways: Fall is often beautiful in the Oceanside area. Book a golfing retreat or a spa getaway. Enjoy local hiking, bicycling or just relax on the verandah.
Winter Stays: Escape the cold and snow. Come and golf at some of the excellent local courses within a few minutes' dirve of the house. Winters are generally mild.
Luxurious, modern, spacious (over 1900 square feet) three-bedroom, two-bathroom home beside the ocean. It's just 20 seconds from our verandah to a private beach, with wonderful views of the Georgia Strait and the Gulf Islands from almost every room.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, ocean views, a private balcony, and full ensuite bathroom with a soaker tub and a separate shower. The second ocean view bedroom downstairs has a king bed that can separate into two super twins. The third bedroom has a double and a twin bed. All beds have quality linens.
The house is equipped with all the comforts of home including: gourmet kitchen, air-conditioning, high-speed and wireless internet, air-tight wood fireplace, 42-inch TV with surround sound, Cable/DVD player/VCR/stereo, washer/dryer, and telephone (free local calls). There is a family room with a card table, books, games and puzzles, office space and exercise equipment.
Relax on the wide front verandah and enjoy the fenced garden with glorious views of the beach, a barbeque and a huge log picnic table for alfresco meals. Stroll along the beach and watch the wildlife, including seals, sea lions, whales, otters, and eagles, or harvest oysters and clams from our beach for dinner.
Bowser Beach House is a great base for a family vacation. The house is on a large bay facing Hornby and Denman Islands and you can walk and walk in either direction. It is a large, private, peaceful beach, only for the few houses on the bay. We are a quick and easy drive to more beaches: Qualicum Beach is 15 minutes and Parksville is 20 minutes away, and there are beautiful provincial parks with lakes, beaches and picnic areas within a few minutes drive of the house. Horne Lake Provincial Park, with its amazing caves and outdoor recreation activities is only a 10 minute drive away. There are ocean kayaks for rent in Deep Bay, 5 minutes' drive from the house.
The friendly village of Bowser is a 5 minute walk up the hill, and it has a fully stocked small supermarket with a wonderful on-site bakery, a grocery store, post office, coffee shop, gas station, hardware store, liquor store, a video/DVD rental, and even a library for that vacation reading. More shopping, country markets, organic eggs and meats, restaurants and pubs are just down the road.
Bowser Beach House is a wonderful base for a golfing vacation. There are several top class courses within a few minutes' drive of the house.
From December to March, Bowser Beach House is a perfect base for a family ski vacation at Mount Washington ski resort, with skiing, snowboarding and cross-country. Skiers have an easy 35 minute drive to the mountain top, and non-skiers have a relaxing base close to lots of other activities.
* Bowser is within easy driving distance of five superb golf courses.
* Only 20 minutes to the world class spa at Tigh-na-mara.
* Take a day trip to Denman and Hornby Islands, just a few minutes away by ferry.
* Only 15 - 20 minutes to the beaches at Qualicum Beach and Parksville.
* The famous Fanny Bay oysters, Island scallops, and more fresh, locally-caught seafood are a few minutes away.
* The ancient trees of Cathedral Grove, the goats on the roof at Coombs, and the beautiful waterfalls at Englishman River and Little Qualicum Falls are a short drive away.

(Guests from the UK who stayed in April) I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your beach house . We were amazed to find such a lovely house in a beautiful setting. The house is so well furnished with everything you could possibly imagine that you would need. We spent the most fantastic day with Hurricane Jack ( you had recommended him to us) . He took us out for nearly six hours and we saw some wonderful wildlife. We were too early for the whales but we did see 2 bears , sea otters, porpoises, eagles, and lots of sea birds along with the most fascinating tide. I mentioned that you had recommended him ! Our two boys hired mountain bikes from a shop in Cumberland which was a great hit, and we had some lovely lake walks. Vancouver Island is certainly a very beautiful place and we managed to see as much of it as we could. The Canadians we met were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay. We are now safely back in the UK and planning our next adventure!

(Guests who stayed for a month in the late winter / early spring) Now that we are home and settling back into our usual routine, we wanted to let you know what a wonderful experience it was for us to stay at Bowser Beach House. It is a lovely home. Everything you said about the house, the beach and the neighbourhood was totally true. The local people are delightful. They were really helpful at all times. The house had everything we could wish for - it was comfortable, modern and totally equipped. We made ourselves quite at home. The friends that visited us from Seattle were delighted with the upstairs accommodation and were very impressed with the house. We are back in our house in Seattle. We had a wonderful time at your very clean, comfortable and well equipped home at the beach. The location is very good for trips around the area. the kids had a lot of fun at the Parksville beach-park, spelunking at Horne Lake caves, rock climbing at the Englishman River, trunk climbing at the Cathedral Grove forest, etc.. We were very lucky with the weather, perfect temperature. The cleaning service at the end of the stay…perfect.

I just wanted to let you know we had an amazing vacation at your beach house. The house was very comfortable and a great location to visit many of the attractions you had sent information about. Our youngest daughter set a goal to see a starfish on her vacation and we could not believe that on our first walk down to the beach at low tide we found hundreds of starfish, and even many sunfish. It was so incredible and beautiful to see. Your directions and local information you provided were fantastic and you'll have to tell Andy we very much enjoyed the Mediterranean bread at Tomm's. Thank you for sharing your beach house with us.

Now we are back in the UK I just thought I'd send a little email to thank you for helping us with our stay in Bowser. We had a lovely time - particularly as the house was so well equipped both for the kids and for the adults after they had gone to bed. We didn't manage to get much beyond Spider Lake and the playground at Parksville but the kids loved it and we really managed to relax, it was all so peaceful there.

Words cannot describe the delight in our stay at Bowser Beach House! It met and surpassed our expectations from our first glimpse in your photo gallery. It was very easy for all of us to want to keep the house clean and tidy -- it felt like our dream home! All the appliances and appointments were so classy, expensive, state-of-the-art and tasteful. What a beautiful home you have!!! We all LOVED it! Two of my daughters told me after the first few minutes that they would not be going home with us! They wanted to stay!! There was a very subdued mood in the van as we pulled away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you. We look forward to another opportunity to come and stay - perhaps in another couple of years? I hesitate to have you include any of my comments, because I don't want Bowser Beach House to be booked when we may be able to come again!! Certainly you may use any part of my emails - it would be my pleasure to "loan" my praise of your lovely home.

Beautiful location, lots of wildlife to see. Excellant directions, friendly neighbours and most of all quiet and peaceful. Close to Sandy beaches in Parksville and Saratoga. Hope to go back next year.
