This apartment is located between Palais du Luxembourg - and its gardens - and the Church of St. Germain de Pres, overlooking the very quiet rue Garancière, just behind the Church of Saint Sulpice - one of most beautiful and great monuments in Paris. In this area, luxury boutiques have gradually replaced the "saint sulpiceries", stores that used to sell gaudy religious images and objects. Rue Garancière starts just on the back of the Church of Saint Sulpice under the small tower (the turret). Historical maps show this street already existed in A.D. 1540.

This 55 square metres apartment is at third floor via elevator. His Second Empire parquet floor ensures a typical French touch. The apartment (fully renovated in 2005) can receive up to four people with a queen-sized double bed in the bedroom and a sofa convertible (140-by-200 centimeters) for two people in the living room. The 25 square metres living room is furnished by a dining table for four to six people, a writing desk and a library, commode, cupboards and minor furniture. Other features are music system (CD/Radio), cable TV (with international channels), Internet cable connection and wifi for your laptop, phone line for incoming calls (use a prepaid card to call). The windows open on the back of the Church and on the Rue St. Sulpice. The apartment is plenty of light and very quiet atmosphere. Electric heating.

The fully equipped kitchen provides electric ceramic contact grills, traditional oven and dishwater, cooker hood, fridge and freezer, microwave, washing machine, etc. The bathroom offers tub with fix shower, sink and toilet. Fresh linens and matching towels are included. The nearest metro stations are St. Sulpice (Line 4) and Mabillon (Line 10).

St. Sulpice (Garanciere) - 1BR - 2-4 People - 55 Square Meters

Wonderful Apartment, Great Location

Guest: Cindy58 (Oakland, NJ USA)
Date of Stay: 05/14/10 Review Submitted: 06/07/10

We rented the St. Sulpice apartment in May for 10 days. First of all, the apartment was just as advertised and photographed. It was very clean and comfortable. With windows on two sides and location on the 3rd floor (4th US floor), it was very bright and airy with a nice view. We love to cook, and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare, cook and serve meals. Our contacts were great to work with. They were always available to answer our questions and took the time to walk us through how to operate the clothes washer. Our only concern was the very small (fits 2 barely!) elevator, but we got used to it quickly. The apartment is in a perfect location in the 6th district, within easy walking distance to metro stops on the #10 and #4 lines. There are at least 2 supermarkets close by as well as the great open air markets on Rue de Seine. Other great outdoor markets are Grenelle (line 10 to La Motte Piquette Grenelle) on Wed and Sun, Saxe-Breteuil on Ave de Saxe (line 10 to Segur) on Thurs and Sat and Raspail (at intersection of Blvd Raspail and rue de Rennes) on Sunday. Go early in the morning and shop like a Parisian. We took 3 day trips outside of Paris to Dijon, Chenonceaux and Bayeux (Normandy) and the trains in France run like clockwork. We made connections with no problem in spite of the language barrier. We got a 3 day France Rail Pass before leaving home and it saved us about $175. But make reservations early if going on the TGV since they only allow a limited amount of seats for rail pass customers. We found a great restaurant in the neighborhood, L'Enfance de Lard on Rue Guisarde. The customers are mostly locals. We went there for lunch a couple of times and the food was delicious and our waiter was great and very patient. The price fixe menu was a good bargain too. We especially loved the fish soup and the flaming salmon crepe. If you go to Montmarte, there is a wonderful restaurant there, Le Poulbot on rue Poulbot (off place du Tertre). The onion soup is to die for and they cook salmon to perfection.
