Why the Owner Chose Plantation
We love the quiet and solitude of unspoiled natural Florida. The sea oats, the piney woods, the herons, ospreys and pelicans that wade or skim over the water. The dolphins doing acrobatics out of the water for the sheer joy of it. The sound of the waves and the utter peacefulness of this place. When we bought our house, there was no one between us and Bob Sikes Cut. It has grown a lot over the last 20 years but the things that drew us here are still here and so are we.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love shopping in Apalach, touring the Victorian homes in May, eating at the Grill and BJ's and The Blue Parrot. Some of our favorite things are walking down to Bob Sikes Cut or sitting in our rockers and watching the dolphins cavort in front of the house while having some home roasted coffee.
The beach changes for each season and it's always so interesting to see the different shells, the changes in the shoreline, the activity of the birds.
We enjoy sharing our home with our guests and knowing that it is blessing other families. We've gotten so many nice notes over the years- from honeymooners to young families to many generations vacationing together. We like to think many happy memories are made at Eagle's Rest. We'd like to invite you to be part of that story.
We have boardwalks on either side of the T-Street to give you easy to navigate access to the beach.
Great views of the Gulf with nothing to get in the way. Porches and decks at Eagle's Rest for watching dolphins and kids playing on the beach.
This is the cut between Appalachicola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Awesome fishing here and close enough to walk from our house. Also parking off Leisure Lane if you prefer to drive

Hello! We are Tom and Kelly Townson and bought our house on St. George Island with the hopes of hanging onto it till retirement. We've rented it for several years and it has been a good experience for us. We still have it after putting 3 kids through college and are only 2-3 years away from our dream coming true! We love St. George and the beautiful beaches, amazing sea life and wonderful people that call the island home. It really is a magical place and we are very blessed to be here. Come see for yourself. If you need a place to relax, slow down and enjoy family or friends, this is the place to do all that. You will receive a warm welcome at Eagle's Rest.

Thank you for a wonderful week all together as a family. Our daughters and sons in law and grandchildren were all here with us. Such special times on the beach fishing ( caught spanish mackerel and lots more), cooked up a red fish. We saw so many dolphins right off the shore and a manatee by the rocks and an octopus in the park and sting rays—lots of birds. Went to Apalachicola stopped and ate at Oyster House, also ate at BJ's and Blue Parrot-all excellent. Our grandsons swan a lot and built many castles. Thank you for allowing us to use your house.

I just wanted to say thanks for a wonderful week on St. George Island. We loved the home, and had a very relaxing stay. We ate at all the restaurants you recommended, and had some great food. We’ll certainly make this one of our repeats for down the road. I am leaving two new beach chairs and a new beach umbrella inside the outdoor shower with the other stuff you have. Hopefully other guests will get some use out of them Thanks again, and we’ll talk to you down the road sometime!

Thank you for sharing you home with us. Our two families really loved the oversized well stocked kitchen and family room.We cooked in almost every night and were able to eat together which was really nice. The views were stunning from all the decks! Very comfortable beds which left us very rested. We went fishing at the cut and caught lots of whitting and the kids loved catching all the crabs! Our dogs really liked being able to sit on the porches in the evening. We had never been to the Island before and loved the relaxing atmosphere. The boys liked having all the bait and tackle shops to choose from and we ordered take out pizza from BJ's one night and it was excellent. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us we will be back!
Owner response:Thanks so much for your review and we are so glad you found our house met your needs comfortably. We'll look forward to your next visit! Kelly

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We had a great first visit to St. George and would highly recommend the island and the Eagle's Rest to friends. Both the location and the view were picture perfect, and the proximity to the beach was better than expected. We hope to visit again next year!

The house itself is an easy walk to the beach, and the neighborhood is perfect for riding bikes or taking dogs for a walk. We brought our two golden retriever/lab mixes, and they both had a blast! After a romp at the beach we could easily bathe them outside with the hose, and then let them air dry on one of the decks while we read a book or enjoyed the scenery (plenty of rocking chairs and porch swings for this!). We loved the gated community that Eagle's Rest offered, and the beaches were not crowded and all beachgoers were very friendly. The short drive to Apalachicola is a great way to shop and dine, and the renewed downtown there is quaint and cozy. We hope to come back again!
Owner response: We are so pleased our guests rated us a 5 out of 5 stars. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and we thank you for your review. It helps our future guests know they can book Eagle's Rest with peace of mind. We look forward to your next visit! Kelly

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at Eagles Rest, we truly enjoyed ourselves and the information you sent to us prior was very helpful. I do appreciate how proactive you were in seeing that we had a good time during our stay, and responsive to all my questions. Fishing at the cut was fun, the beach was great, and we rented a boat for the day and had a good time tooling around the bay. St. George is a beautiful, friendly island and Eagles Rest is a wonderful home. Thank you for everything.

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time my family and I had at Eagle's Rest. My husband and I spent a great deal of time rocking on the porch watching dolphins, sailboats and our children and grandchildren enjoying the beach. The view was perfect.

Dear Townsons, Thank you for sharing you vacation home with us, we truely enjoyed ourselves, my daughters (6, 12) were enamored by the view, shells, dolphins and alone time with Mom and Dad. We were thankful for the Christ centered movies, and prints. We also would like to use your place again next year june 12-19th if it would be available.
