For us Stone Cottage was the perfect location for our Colorado vacation. There's Denver to the east and the higher Rocky Mountain resorts and attractions to the west, plus the lower range attractions to the north and south. Also, the location in Evergreen is perfect – downtown area just below and an easy walk to the lake. You can look up at the cabin from everywhere along the main street. Lots of hiking opportunities around Evergreen, as there are several parks and national forests. An abundance of wildlife around the cabin – we had an elk herd walk by up on the road above the driveway, plus saw deer, squirrels and a fox. We also share the view of others who have mentioned the owners – Heather is very easy to work with, flexible, and has a lot of good suggestions. Needless to say, we'd like to come back!

I grew up in Colorado and have spent a lot of time around Evergreen, including perhaps a few too many nights at the Little Bear. Whenever we come back we've usually got people to see in town and stuff we've gotta do, but the last place I want to be is in the city. Evergreen is a great compromise: close enough to Denver to go if necessary and have a reasonable drive to the airport, but most definitely still a Colorado mountain community. This little place couldn't be better located. It provides comfortable walking access to Evergreen proper, including food faves like Beau Jo's and the Wildflower Cafe. And, of course, the Little Bear, one of the state's premier live music joints. But what REALLY makes this place great is the exceptional taste and luxurious touches the owners have added with their renovations and decor. The kitchen is beautiful - granite and rich woods, with a serious stove and a surprisingly cool black stone sink. The floors are warm, the furniture is comfortable, the beds are great, the bathrooms are light and pleasant, the deck is perfect for hanging out, and the bits of real rock here and there add character. The downstairs bedroom in particular is comfortable and quiet and dark, the perfect place to snuggle down and sleep in. Very relaxing. The owners were responsive, friendly, flexible and helpful. We've been VRBOing places regularly all over the country for 7 or 8 years, and this was perhaps our finest experience yet. We'll be back. Thanks!

My wife and I have used VRBO both in the USA and abroad. This cottage is the best we have ever rented by far. It is a charming historic stone cottage high above downtown Evergreen. Restored to perfection a few years ago it has some of the finest finish carpentry possible (A man from New England lived in it to renovate it.) Everything you could want or need is furnished, and amply so: towels, dishes, kitchen utensils, soap, T.P., etc. It is like a hotel in many respects. Evergreen is a not self conscious or to precious place. It is quintessential America. Many places to visit, both on foot with a walk around Lake Evergreen, to easy trips to Denver, Boulder, or the ski communities. Local restaurants' food choices run the gamut from great Asian to burgers. To be fair, this house requires the ability to walk stairs and tolerate some traffic noise during the afternoons. But the walls of the house are made of old river rocks and by closing the windows the sound is easily evaded. Evenings cool off nicely in summer and there is no need for A/C. It rains a bit every afternoon in August. The neighbors are very friendly and accommodating too. This is also the best VRBO owner we have ever dealt with too. And that makes a big difference. We highly recommend this rental.

Love-love-love this cottage! We've been to Evergreen five times and tried to stay at the Stone Cottage each time- now we see why it's always been booked... it's the best! What a cozy haven to enjoy a truly spectacular visit to Evergreen.

We spent a long weekend in Evergreen and loved the cottage! It is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the Little Bear Saloon and Evergreen Lake. The cottage is very clean and spacious along with plenty of deck space to enjoy the outdoors. I would recommend it to anyone!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The property is clean and well managed. The cottage sits above main street and is convenient to all that the original town has to offer, and the lake is with in walking distance. The cottage is not huge, but very comfortable and nicely decorated. Our family looks forward to staying there again.

We stayed 4 days in June. Very nice and clean. We loved sitting on the deck that overlooks the town and watching the people. We also took a walk around the lake every day. From here we traveled around Colorado. Very nice location. The town was a bit bigger than I expected, a pleasant surprise. Colorado in June was a bit cool, but beautiful! My husband and I had a great time.

We had a wonderful holiday stay at the Stone Cottage this July 4. I appreciate how well this cottage was laid out, all the modern appliances, everything in its place and clean. Great place, fabulous gateway to the Rockies & close to Denver. I recommend it!

My husband and I so enjoyed our stay at the Stone Cottage. We used to live in Evergreen and we come back a few times a year. We were overwhelmed immediately with the cleanliness and the decor - completely updated and beautiful. The location was so fun. While Scott took the car to ski, I walked into town to shop, walked around the lake, had lunch, etc...so convenient. We just so appreciated the ease with which the stay was handled, and enjoyed Heather w/ the management co. We can't wait to stay again.

The Stone Cottage overlooking Evergreen was better than we had imagined. Beautiful, clean, lovely selection of appliances, dishes, and furniture. Great views! We have a 4 year child and this location was great for short strolls downtown to feed the ducks and have an ice cream or breakfast. The management was so easly to deal with, that I almost thought it was a scam...But it wasn't. Highly recomended if your looking to be close to town.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful retreat with us. It was so nice to be able to walk around the lake, stop in for ice cream, then walk home. So many things so close by. Your home is lovely and very well appointed, we lacked for nothing. We look forward to staying here again the next time we are in town.

Our family stayed here for four wonderful days. The property exceeded our expectations of a rental - it was brand new and beautifully appointed, truly a place to call a home away from home. I could not have imagined a better house or location! I felt like we stole it for a few days...thank you Heather!
