My family and I (wife, parents, and sister) rented this house for the Christmas to New Year's week. The house was great. Location: very close to downtown; my wife and I even walked over two blocks to attend Christmas Eve services at local church. Space: We fit 5 people very spaciously. The finished basement serves as a separate suite with it's own bathroom. Accomodations: everything was top quality and very comfortable. My wife was constantly amazed at the high quality of the furnishings and appliances. And the laundry was helpful. Note: the only full standing shower is the one in the basement. I would definitely use this house again.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great vacation home

My family and I stayed @ the 8th street house during Ironman CDA. It was the perfect location to be close to the race course for my family and far enough away from the transition area and expo to keep my nerves @ bay. We enjoyed all the outdoor amenities ie the deck, grill and the front porch was wonderful for relaxing in the evening. Being within walking distance of downtown was also a big plus! We did not have any children in our party but were impressed w/ the games and toys available for children! The house was completely stocked w/ everything we needed! ( just need some pot holders in the kitchen) Jim was wonderful and very helpful w/ suggestions for entertainment and for race day viewing. He also was a terrific cheerleader for me before, during and after the race! We all had a wonderful week and would definitely stay again in the future!

Clean and convenient

My husband and i stayed here 4 days over the Memorial Day holiday. The home was very clean and comfortable. The remodeling on the home was top notch with attention paid to every detail.Appliances were new. Heated floor in kitchen. Speakers for music in every room. The home is located on a very quiet, tree lined street. Convenient to lake and downtown area. Good home base for short day trips outside of town. Jim, the property manager, was very informative. He met us at the house and went over the pre-stay check list to make sure everything was in working order. Phil, the owner, called mid-week to make sure we were comfortable. It was a very enjoyable stay. I would stay here again on a return visit. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to feel at home away from home on their visit to beautiful Coeur d'Alene. My wife and I stayed at this lovely home for our 10th wedding anniversary in January 2010. We were primarily skiing at Schweitzer Mountain, however we made CDA our home base, as we are in love with the City. This home is fabulous. Everything is top of the line, from the furniture, to the appliances, to the overall charm, we couldn't have asked for more. The owners have thought of everything. We simply cannot overstate our recommendation - if you are looking for a vacation rental in CDA, this is the one. Stop looking and book it.

Your home was the perfect getaway for our family. We loved this place! We started each morning with coffee on the front porch, and ended our days grilling and enjoying wine on the back porch! This house met all of our expectations. We loved our week here in Coeur d’ Alene. The kids favorite activities were kayaking, the route of the Hiawatha bike ride, and hanging out at the house. They controlled the surround sound and television right away. The beds are very comfortable – we slept late everyday. The kitchen is very well appointed. This is a story book cottage in a beautiful neighborhood. This home welcomes you in and you want to stay. The decor is polished and colorful in true Victorian style. Everything is there for you to just enjoy. Love the front porch swing. We walked downtown, which is a few blocks away and there you are at the heart of CDA and that incredible lake. Thanks so much. 8-14 to 8-19 2009 Our stay in your lovely house was just what we wanted. It was a touch of old and new and very relaxing. Being a cook, I loved the stove! The neighborhood was wonderful as well as the neighbors and we met several. The closenest to down was great as well as to the lake. I suggest you get copies of Idaho Cuisine and leave them in the house as it is a useful tool for giving your guests information on the area. We got copies the last day we were their and would have appreciated them sooner. I will bring my family back to the area again for a vacation.

We spent a week in this lovely house. My friend’s teenage daughter saw the picture on the web and said it looked like something from “Gilmore Girls.” Each morning I enjoyed snuggling with my 6 year old on the front porch swing, which will be my favorite memory. My husband cooked for us all on the outdoor grill. A lovely, well-appointed home and we are so glad we picked it. We enjoyed lake fishing with a guide and caught several pike. We also enjoyed the silver mine tour in Wallace. Overall, a very peaceful and relaxing stay, especially this home. I know everyone says it is hot here, but we go back to 103 degree. Outstanding value! We wanted a quiet, at-home yet upscale experience. Phil your cottage on 8th Street exceeded our every wish! Jim is great at checking us in and showing us the home’s features. The proximity to town and the lake are wonderful and the neighborhood is quiet and secure. For those desiring a bike rental the lake bike path is superb irrespective of fitness or biking skills. I was in Coeur d'Alene with my family for Ironman 2009. We loved the town, the people and especially the house. Everything we could ever need was provided, the furnishings were really comfortable, the attention to detail and hospitality was extraordinary and sitting on the front porch swing made for a perfect way to start each day. We were wishing we were back in CDA when we stepped off the plane in Dallas and were greeted with 100 degree weather! Thanks for everything, and we'll be back!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at your home. What a great street and spot. The renovation is very detailed and in terms of needing nothing but a toothbrush -it could not have been better. We spent many evenings and morning on the front terrace - that was a major part of the trip. The convenience to down town and other areas was also exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cottage! It could not have been easier to travel to a "home away from home". With our three kids ranging from ages 15 to 2, it made it so much less stressful not having to pack anything but our clothes! We didn't even have to worry about a crib for our 2 year old. The beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas were great, since we went to the lake every day! You even had a cooler for us to use! You thought of everything! We loved the feel of the cottage. There was not one detail that was missed. The craftsmanship was impeccable and it had such fancy ammentites! Like the ability to have music in every room! Even the beds! They were so comfortable, no one wanted to get up in the morning! We definately felt spoiled. Loved the location also! We were able to walk everywhere! The bottom line is, this vacation was the highlight of our year and the cottage just made it that much sweeter! Thank you!

We stayed in the Cozy Cottage while attending a professional conference at the CdA Resort. It was a wonderful experience, start to finish. We have rented several houses or condos through online sites and really appreciated the fact that the description and the pictures were accurate in every respect. An exquisite restoration with all the high-tech features elegantly hidden. Impeccably maintained, clean, fresh flowers - what's not to like? Jim Linden, Property Manager, is a gem - just like having a friend in town!

We were in town for a professional conference at the CDA Resort. We always try to find a house or condo instead of staying at the conference hotel, and did we luck out! The minute we saw the picture on VRBO, we were hooked. Beautifully, tasteful remodeled, and the hi-tech touches – hidden TV, XM satellite radio, audio in each room. The kitchen has that 1940’s look with all the modern appliance concealed. The flowers were blooming in the year and in vase in the home. Attention to every detail makes the cozy cottage a complete success. A welcoming environment with the porch swing, the quiet neighborhood every aspect of this house contributes to a relaxing and peaceful stay.Coeur d’ Alene is now on our list of places we could happily live. Our stay here was very comfortable and cozy, like coming over to Grandma's house for a while. The ability to cook for ourselves and relax by a fireplace or listen to music of any type enhanced our experience and was preferred over a hotel by far. Short walks to downtown in the snow were fun! "With 2 kids away at college our family doesn't have many long stretches of time together and we all needed a rest from the stress of work and study. What a house! We loved the little extras that made this house a "home". The fact that we could listen to the XM Radio in almost every room was magical. The technology was amazing throughout. My three boys REALLY enjoyed the XBox downstairs. A beautiful and yet kid friendly home. The location was perfect to get in or out of town. We have stayed in a lot of rentals over the years and this one is at the top of our list. Cannot wait to get back and see the place in summer.
