The superior, family owned Mas des Hirondelles was built three years ago. It is located in the quiet village of Salles Argeles overlooking the Pyrenean mountains just 30 minutes from the ski lifts and twenty minutes from the pilgrimage site of Lourdes. Sleeping up to 12, it is the last word in luxury as we have as well as the 6 bedrooms 4 with their own balconies and 6 bath/shower rooms, a cinema room with over 150 DVD, jacuzzi, steam room, gym, two terraces, swimming pool heated to about 25 degrees between May and September, petanque and a massage suite. There is wheel chair access to the ground floor. The area is well known for its rafting, climbing, kayaking, fishing, cycling, tennis, golf, skiing and horse riding. There is one quality restaurant in the village and 5 km away in Argeles Gazost one can find 3 supermarkets and a host of restaurants and bars. Included is 4 hours cleaning each week, use of bed linen and towels, cot, high chair, a comprehensive welcome pack is provided.

Bedroom 1 - Situated to the front of the ground floor is a double bedroom. The bedroom has its own private access out on to the ground floor terrace, has wheel chair access, flat screen TV, DVD and satellite. Bedroom 2 - master bedroom with balcony. The master bedroom has been decorated with an oriental twist. The beautiful silk kimono hung to the right of the bed adds to the calm serenity of this spacious room. Bedroom 3 - with balcony. Perfectly decorated in a neutral colour with a splash of dusty pink, this double bedroom enjoys beautiful views. Bedroom 4 - with balcony. A secluded double bedroom is located at the end of the first floor corridor. It is decorated in light, airy colours. Bedroom 5 - Situated in the eaves of the house, bedroom 5 is the largest of all the bedrooms. This bedroom houses a double bunk with Japanese double tatami bed underneath and also has room for the additional double reclining futon. The kitchen in the house has a six burner hob with double oven by Smeg, juicer, coffee maker, microwave, rice cooker, slow cooker and dishwasher. The fridge/freezer has a built in ice maker and water purifier. There is a very full complement of cooking utensils. There is an Ipod docking station. There are two BBQs-one charcoal, the other gas by Weber. The 2nd floor has air-conditioning and the ground and 1st floors have under floor heating. The heated swimming pool has an electronically controlled security cover as well as being fenced; the gates have locks. There is a steam room, outside jacuzzi and gym adjoining the pool area. Warm and very generous welcome by owners. Gorgeous family house, spotlessly clean, luxurious bath rooms ,and beds so comfortable one is tempted by early nights: but the spacious cinema beckons as does the inhouse "massage parlour " : The separate, fully equiped apartment was ideal for those with young families., with its own magnificent views.and balconies. The house was equiped with every available electric appliance on the market including some that were not .. Japanese WCs ! The heated swimming pool with children area, magnificent views and secure balcony was difficult to leave. However beautiful walks near and around the village ,followed by a simple restaurant meal and a cool beer was hard to resist. A bakers van has fresh bread and criossants in time for breakfast. The service was excellent , as a knowlegable neighbour was always available for both emergencies and tourist ideas, Indeed he organises family walks or sking with mini bus transport For us the most important aspect was the peacefulness, the delightful views coupled with the spaciosness and confort of this massive demeure. We had a wonderful stay! The children didn’t want to leave!! Thank you for your warm welcome. We will practice fishing more definitely before we come back!!! We also enjoyed all the facilities in the house as well as the Japanese atmosphere and decoration. Merci. From Visitors Book

Stayed for a New Year's getaway. Truly impressed by the grandeur of the property, with rooms decorated to a very high standard and styled throughout. Lots of thought given to facilities from massage chairs to an outside jacuzzi. Nice touches for the winter included a lovely log fire and toilets with heated seats! The cinema room proved a great place to end the day watching a movie. What really stood out for us is the setting - the house looks on to scenic snow-capped mountains. Sitting out on the terrace (it was just about warm enough when the sun shined) the backdrop is idyllic. There were plenty of walking opportunities for us in the nearby villages and skiing was a short drive away. The owners are extremely hospitable and we felt recharged, ready to face the New Year! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house & visiting the surrounding areas. The descriptions of the house & amenities are accurate. We spent a lot of time at the house itself but did venture out to do some kayaking in Argeles & then some canyonning too. Only problem we encountered was with the jacuzzi which we used once (it was too cold) but it hinder the enjoyment of the place. As we were several families travelling together (with children age range from 5-14) the home cinema was a great addition which meant that the adults could have a peaceful dinner downstairs. All in all I would recommend this property.

We have many happy memories of this house and recommend it highly. It is a first class property in a wonderfully inspiring location -- matched by the modern, clean and functioning facilities of the home.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.

Owner response: It is great when you hear the enjoyment that a young family had from our house. They want to return in 2010 and we are looking forward to welcoming them; they want to perfect their petanque skills apparently!
