We've completely renovated a small cozy and quaint house and transformed it into a lively, contemporary larger space. We added more room with high ceilings and gave it lots of natural light.
Two bedrooms with one queen and two twin beds. A loft is available with two twin inflatable mattresses. Kitchen has microwave, electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and some small appliances. The dining area comfortably sits six people. The large 24 x 8 foot deck spans the rear of the house overlooking the fenced-in yard and the woodlands below. Outdoor spa/hot tub private with deck. Directions: 15 miles from Carbondale, the Alto Guest House is located just outside the Village of Alto Pass. From Alto Pass go west towards Bald Knob. The Peach Barn will be on your right. Stay on the road to your right, Milligan Hill Road, for about two miles. There is a sign "Alto Guest House" right next to the driveway.
We are 15 miles SW of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Location, location, location!!! Excellent place to stay to explore the wineries and local fare. We were able to stop at 7-8 wineries in one day because of the proximity to the house. Highly recommend The Blue Boar for dinner one night. Lee accomodated our need for firewood, the house was clean and all amenities were well-maintainend.

My friends and I had a wonderful time away in this peaceful setting. The owners left a generous amount of breakfast goodies and snacks and were easy and honest to make arrangements with. Also available by phone to answer any questions. The property was pleasant and a great deal for the price. We do wish that there had been a coffee table on which to place our drinks/snacks, and more seating in one room for all of us to gather in a comfy seat. The beds were comfortable and we loved our afternoon at a nearby vineyard. Thank-you for a very nice stay!

What a wonderful experience! When we first arrived we found the lights on, radio on and hot tub ready for us, as well as breakfast and a snack basket! It was the perfect location for a Wine Tasting trip. The vacation home is close to over a dozen wineries and we were even able to 'run home' for a break in the middle of the day. My sister and I watched the youtube video and both commented that it didn't do the place justice - it was modern, yet quaint and home like - we all felt instantly at home. The property was clean and the owner made his cell phone number available if we needed anything. The hot tub, fire pit, fenced in yeard and perfect privacy were amazing!

We were looking for somewhere to stay close to Stone Creek Golf Course. We had never heard of Alto Pass and were very pleasantly surprised by what we found. The rental was very clean, comfortable, and a perfect getaway. We ate at the the Trail's End Saloon and enjoyed the food, music, and evening campfire. We also dined at the Hedman Winery and found it quite delightful. We would return to this area and recommend the property to others. Julie was very helpful and, we loved the cinnamon rolls. The Shawnee Hills are very beautiful and peaceful.

What a nice time we had at this house. Very quiet and relaxing. So surprised to find breakfast goodies left for us..great way to start off the first morning! Wineries and restaurants were great. Loved the Blue Boar in Anna and we found a great Italian place in Murphysboro..just wonderful. Our dog enjoyed the wildlife way too much..he was entertained nearly every night by visiting squirrels and raccoons. :) This was such a nice break for my brother who has terminal cancer. A great break from all the doctors , tests, drugs, procedures and endless trips to the clinic. Thanks again for a wonderful time!!! Kate & Jack

When we arrived, the house was immaculately clean. It was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures on this site. The location was absolutely beautiful as well and easy to find. This rental property is perfect for a wine lovers' weekend as it is nestled in the middle of the Shawnee wine trail. The kitchen was fully stocked with all dishes, silverware, pots, pans, you name it! They even left us some unopened bags of chips and cookies, along with condiments, bacon, and eggs! It was such a cozy and relaxing weekend that we didn't want to leave by the time Sunday rolled around. Lee was extremely nice and accommodating throughout the whole process. We really couldn't have been happier to spend our anniversary anywhere else. Thank you for the lovely weekend! Also, we highly recommend the Alto Vineyard just a few minutes drive from the house. :-) Sam & Rob
