Why the Owner Chose Piedra Viva
This is a lively town with something for everyone. International in flavour, low rise and with the pedestrian 5 Av everything is easily accessible. We love it!

Stay Aug 2011 Firstly, the owner, James, was exceptional to deal with. We did offer a few challenges with date changes but all went well and we are definitely glad they did. The location could not have been better for spending time at the beach, as well as for closeness to 5th Avenue and shopping and restaurants. Having parking was also a plus. The instructions given for accessing the apartment on arrival were clear and concise. There was an issue with wifi however, with the closeness of cafes with free wifi it was not a problem. All concerns were handled quickly and the local reps were friendly and helpful. The pictures do accurately portray the unit, however being there was definitely better than the pictures suggest. I would totally recommend this property to relatives and friends without a second thought. Many thanks James.

We rented this location in Playa del Carmen for a 4 day stay and were thoroughly impressed. As a getaway trip for girls only, this location was perfect! The pictures are accurate. This condo is thoughtfully and tastefully furnished with decorative touches and quality appliances that make it feel like an upscale hotel or a house staged to sell. It was immaculately clean - not a bit of dust or sand in any of the corners. There were a trail of minuscule ants (really, the tiniest ants I've ever seen) but nothing to be worried about. The beds are comfy, the towels are plush, and really it's the little things like provided drinking water, assortment of books and board games, and beach towels that made it much better than staying at a hotel. Although we didn't have time to take advantage of it, the kitchen is well furnished and would've been awesome for making family meals that could be enjoyed on the roof or the outdoor balcony. Did I mention the location? there are multiple, affordable and easy options for transport from the Cancun airport to Playa. As for Piedra Viva, all you have to do is turn a corner and you're on the bustling main road for touristy attractions. There are a ton of souvenir shops, tourist traps, restaurants, and quick access to the beach. There's a nearby Walmart and Mega grocery store as well so you can really settle in. If you want to participate in any excursions, nearby hotels serve as drop off and pick up locations. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it's surprisingly international. We met french, germans, australians, brits, and more while hitting up the night clubs, local coffee shops, and making the requisite stop for late night tacos. All in all, we were more than pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this over any resort or hotel room. I will say though, that we were unable to obtain wifi, and that there wasn't a router to be found in the condo, so that may be misleading. But hey, you're on vacation. Maybe you *should* be unplugged. If you really need to check email, go down the street to the starbucks or Ah Cacao.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful 5 day stay here the first weekend in April. This condo was perfect for us. A short stroll to the beach (5 minute walk) where you had a choice of either Kool beach club or Mamitas Beach club. We opted for Kool beach club afer having a pretty lousy lunch at Mamitas the first day. We did walk the beach in both directions and came to the conclusion that this part of Playa has the very best beach area (I would have been totally bummed if we were on the other side of the ferry dock). The condo is one block from 5th Ave. Going Right on fifth Ave offers some of the best restaurants in Playa. There is an international vibe here that we did not expect and we loved it! The shopping seems to be a bit on the higher end this side of fifth, forgoing the honky tonk shops that line the street heading towards the ferry and center of town. I cannot say enough about the condo. The furnishings were perfect, the beds super comfortable. All the comforts of home (we loved the microwave/toaster combo-never saw this before!). The rooftop terrace was perfect for cocktails after the beach and the veranda off the living room was our breakfast spot. Note that this is a 4 flight walk up. We had no problem with it but you should be aware there is no elevator. I don't consider this a negative but it is something to be aware of. We cannot wait to return, hopefully sooner than later!!!!!!!!
Owner response:We are actually on the 2nd floor - these great guests were counting sets of stairs!
