We are great for the wedding party, or visiting family! We are about two miles from The Empire State Mine, or The Nevada County Fairgrounds. It is a completely restored Victorian and perfect for a romantic getaway weekend, a wedding party, a family vacation, a scrapping or quilting weekend, or a fun retreat for you and your friends! We also have an inviting lovely parlor, a modern and fully equipped kitchen, a sunny breakfast nook, a formal dining room, a comfortable family room, a laundry room with washer/dryer & ironing board & iron, a Secret Kid's Room, a fun recreation room or 'The Man Cave' with Foosball, poker table, TV, VCR/DVD etc, Fun for everyone! In the Sierra Foothills, in the Historic Downtown District of Grass Valley and centralized to many great outdoor and indoor activities and only three miles from Nevada City. We are in the heart of the Gold Country about one hour from Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, right off Hwy 49 in the Downtown District of Grass Valley.

There are numerous fine restaurants in both Grass Valley and Nevada City, not to forget the fast food places and of course you must try a pastie, a Cornish meal the miners used to bring into the mines. Safeway is nearby and makes it easy to purchase foods to cook up something homemade in our well-equipped and modern kitchen.
Spa treatments can be arranged at a discount.

October 19, 2007 We enjoyed a girls weekend at Victorian Rose that was fantastic; everyone wants to go back. The house offers every amenity and the location is near to downtown shops and restaurants. The fall colors were spectacular!

Our stay here was awesome. The kitchen is totally stocked with just about anything you can think of, even an ice cream maker. We all felt at home and comfortable. Mom & dad were even able to take their dog. One of the best features is the front porch, we all sat out there chatting a lot. The location is great, you can walk to the old downtown area and the market. The home is even better in person than in the photos. The owners are so very nice and friendly and wanted to make sure our stay was special. I would recommend this special home to all my friends and family.

Absolutely wonderful, perfect place for a group!
Absolutely wonderful, perfect place for a group!
We rented this house for 9 cousins to stay in for a family reunion, and it was just perfect. There was plenty of space, a big table to gather in the evenings, and everyone had their own room to retire to. The hot tub and man cave were perfect for our younger cousins, and the wrap around porch was great in the mornings and afternoons. With a 10 minute walk, you could be at the grocery store or Downtown Grass Valley for an amazing meal. I could not have asked for a better meeting point for our family, and I can't recommend the Victorian Rose enough!!!

The home and property were even more charming than the website indicated. Immaculately clean and decorated to perfection with Victorian detail, most of the home's furnishings were antiques and there were cunning flourishes such as embellished candy dishes, wash-up stands with bowls and pitchers, and a high-tech stove built to look like a Victorian wood burner. The beds were comfortable, the linens good quality, and there was plenty of everything you need away from home. There is a hot tub, and the water pressure in the house was great. The garden was also beautiful and the location was perfect for us. Last, but not least, the owner was friendly, extremely welcoming, and helpful on all fronts. We were a family of three grown children, two married (each with a baby), and the house was easily roomy enough to accommodate us. It was a lovely stay!

Great house in a nice area!
Great house in a nice area!
Catherine, the owner, was very pleasant to deal with while we firmed up our plans. We thoroughly enjoyed this adorable house (I love the vintage looking stove/oven) and Catherine has gone out of her way to think of absolutely everything. The beds were all comfortable. We are not an easy group to please because I manage 50 vacation rentals in San Diego and one of the other ladies owns a 4-star Country Inn so we are in the same business and have high expectations. Although we spent most of our time at the Nevada City Film Festival, we did have a very nice meal at Toffanelli's on Main St in Grass Valley. We are "foodies" and that food and atmosphere is absolutely top notch!!! We highly recommend both A Victorian Rose and Toffanelli's Restaurant. Nancy and Brian

A Fabulous Get-Away!
A Fabulous Get-Away!
Everything about this home is top notch! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Grass Valley because of our lovely "base camp" at the Victorian Rose. All the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The decor is lovely. The kitchen is very well stocked and everything is very clean. Even the location is perfect - in a quiet residential neighborhood, yet close to restaurants and shops. Our teens enjoyed the many "toys" in the man cave. Thank you, Catherine for making the weekend so wonderful!

We just returned from a lovely stay at the Victorian Rose. The house has everything you could want. The kitchen is beautifully equipped and we had dinner for the extended family who were in town for a wedding. The bedrooms are spacious and linens are very nice. The air conditioning kept the temperature very comfortable even in the attic/loft bedrooms. Very clean and well taken care of. The landscaping in the yard was full of love. Blooming trees and spring flowers. There were 6 of us and we never felt crowded in any way. Plenty of room for all to spreadout and have their own personal space. Walking distance to downtown Grass Valley and easy access to the interstate for extended sightseeing. We will be staying here again.

Step back in time at the Victorian Rose

We had a lovely family reunion at the Victorian Rose. There wasn't anything that this home didn't have to make your stay comfortable. We went the last week of April and the gardens were in bloom along with the dogwood trees. In the evenings, we sat outside on the porch. Although we didn't have children along, there is a wonderful playroom upstairs that would keep them delighted. The kitchen is wonderful. Our guys enjoyed the man-cave. Rooms are very lovely. Single bathroom upstairs, so it helps to be with those who can share. A bedroom on the first floor accommodated our 90 year old. Catherine was very helpful and caring. Our stay was absolutely perfect. We went on the rodeo and car show weekend so our guys were happy. Lots of wonderful shopping to. Thank you Catherine!

About the owner: We love Grass Valley and especially the downtown area. Owning a Victorian is a dream come true! Whenever we get a chance, our family vacations at A Victorian Rose. We enjoy sharing it's magic with others! People have taken their vows of marriage and honeymooned in our beautiful home.
Why the Owner Chose Grass Valley:
Grass Valley is a relaxing place compared to our home in the Bay Area. We love the trees, fresh air and the many indoor and outdoor activities in the area. One of our favorite things about A Victorian Rose is its walking proximity to the downtown wineries, restaurants and specialty shops.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When we stay at A Victorian Rose, we usually have some work to do to our 100+ year old girl or we tend the small gardens, but we don't mind it at all, because it has such a magical, relaxing atmosphere. We love getting up early, drinking our coffee and talking on the front porch (even when it snows)and in the evening unwinding in the relaxing, warm hot tub.
