Villa EtnAmare is situated up on a hill overlooking the green East coast of Sicily, between Mount Etna and the Ionian sea. It is surrounded by a land of five hectares with rich orchards, olive trees, flowers and silent footpaths.
The enormous swimming pool (25x8m) is set amongst orange trees on a natural terrace offering spectacular views of the Volcano and of the whole coastline as far as Catania, Giardini Naxos and Taormina.
Villa EtnAmare has recently been built and consists of ground floor, attic and basement with parking.
The villa is divided into four apartments with private accesses, located on the ground floor which is connected to the swimming pool. Each apartment has a large, private terrace with a sweeping view on the green coast to the east and Mount Etna to the west.
'Girasole' and 'Gelsomino' apartments consist of bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower, bidet and toilet and living room with open kitchen, dining table, a twin sofa bed of good quality and sliding doors with access to the terraces which are equipped with parasols and garden furniture.
'Glicine' and 'Gardenia' are two story units, each one consisting of two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two living rooms with open kitchen and sofa-beds. Thick wooden doors, leading to private staircases, separate the ground floor from the upper floor, so they can be also rented ground floor only, for up to 4 guests, at the same price of the 1 bedroom apartments.
All units are refined with excellent quality materials. They are provided with air-conditioning, heating, TV LCD, Wi-Fi internet connection, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, washing machine, hairdryer, iron and iron board. Bath towels and bed linens are included.
It is possible to rent the entire villa and combine two (or more) apartments on request.
The village of Santa Venerina is 30 kilometres away from Catania, with its rich architectural heritage, its vibrant markets, restaurants and bars.The charming town of Acireale distance only 15 km from Santa Venerina. It is situated next to the 'Riviera dei Ciclopi', a unique coast with a crystal clear sea and lava stacks (faraglioni) which is believed by Greek mythology to correspond to the stones thrown by blind Polifemo to Ulysses.The Riviera traditional resort towns of Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best Granita to be found anywhere and lots of good seafood trattorias.
The east coast Ionian Riviera has some of Sicily's most picturesque pebbly and sandy beaches including those of Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni (below Taormina).Santa Venerina is just 25 km from Gardini Naxos and 30 km (20 minutes with the highway) from Taormina, which draws more visitors than any other town in Sicily, thanks to its splendid position and its Greek/Roman theatre with a unique view of Mount Etna.Torre Archirafi, Pozzillo and Santa Maria la Scala are pleasant seaside villages near Santa Venerina. The nearest can be found in Praiola (8 km), a wild pebbled beach next to an impressive cliff.
Santa Venerina is also an excellent starting point from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The towns and villages that dot the flanks of Etna, such as Zafferana Etnea, Trecastagni and Randazzo, are well worth stopping off for a visit to their seventeenth century churches built in lava stone or for a spot of lunch in restaurants offering delicious local products. The village is only 4 km away from Zafferana Etnea and 10 km from Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where it is possible to take the Etna cableway.

The short story is: we did something that we've never done before, we visited the same place a second time ... and we do not exclude to do it again, maybe to investigate Sicily also once in a different season. The longer story: Etnamare belongs to the most perfect places I've ever been to. We are travelling as a family with 2 kids (4 and7). Etnamare is a great place for many different tours, e.g. within 20 minutes you are on top of Etna or down at the sea, you have the sandy beaches of Catania and places to snorkel like Acitrezza, Taormina or the valley of Alcantara are close. The house itself is very spacious and comfortably equipped. There is a huge (really huge) garden attached to the house and the pool is the center of it. Angelo and Nadia are perfect hosts and they belong to the good reasons why one wants to visit this place again. The pool is even nicer than you can see from the pictures. From some perspectives the sea and the pool truely seem to melt together and turning around gives you full view on Etna's activity. This year we "only" had smoke but last year we saw it twice in real action, something that we will never forget for sure. Also important to mention that there has both times been very good contacts between guests from the different appartments, especially important for the kids. The terrace and the opportunity for having a barbecue makes it also a great place for a superb italian feast. Angelo and Nadia, thanks for having us as your guests. We rented 2 attached apartments, wife and I in one and son in the other. The units are spacious and well equipped. The terrace is extraordinary with incredible views of the Med, the coast, and smoking Mt Etna. The infinity pool above with the same. You are surrounded by orchards. Nadia and Angelo were great hosts and supplied us with their cherries and oranges. It was heaven!! The only warning is you must have a rental car and GPS. We got in late at night and the rental agent didn't have GPS. I ended up in a trattoria and the locals were kind enough to lead us to the house. Once this place is known it will be booked solid. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 3 Kinder 13,11,7 Jahre) waren in den Osterferien 8 Tage bei Nadia und Ihrer Familie zu Gast. Frisch gepflückte Orangen zum Frühstück, der Blick auf den Ätna, das Meer und Taormina in der Ferne... alles vom Feinsten. Auch für Kinder ist die Anlage sehr zu empfehlen, der riesige Pool, Garten zum Verstecken, und, und, und... Nicht zu vergessen die bestens angebunden Verkehrslage: ruhigst gelegen und trotzdem schnell an den bedeutendsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Ostküste. Wir haben einen Trip zu den Liparischen Inseln gemacht - sehr zu empfehlen, auch die sind problemlos zu erreichen. Kurzum: Ein super Urlaub in einer tollen Anlage bei gastfreundlichen Menschen, Danke nochmal an Nadia und Ihre Familie! Wir kommen gerne wieder!!Did you find this review helpful? Vom 28.4. bis 5.5.2012 wohnten mein Mann und ich in diesem wunderschönen Feriendomizil am Fuße des Ätna. Sehr schön gelegenes Haus in einem weitläufigen Orangengarten (ein betörender Duft!!) mit sehr großem sauberen Pool, den sich die Feriengäste der insgesamt vier Wohnungen teilen, den wir aber für uns allein hatten, da wir die einzigen Gäste in der Vorsaison waren. Die Wohnung ist sehr schön eingerichtet, mit allem was man als Selbstversorger so braucht. Das Bad ist besonders ansprechend. Riesengroße Terrasse, von der aus man zur einen Seite die Aktivitäten des Ätna, zur anderen das Meer beobachten kann. Santa Venerina liegt günstig, um von dort aus zu verschiedenen Wanderungen und Städtebesichtigungen aufzubrechen. Auto ist allerdings unbedingt notwendig!! Die Vermieter halten sich dezent im Hintergrund, sind aber bei Fragen jederzeit ansprechbar. Ein Urlaub mit befreundeten Familien bietet sich an, da die vier Wohneinheiten sowohl Privatheit als auch gemütliches Zusammensein auf der Terrasse oder am Pool ermöglichen.Owner response: Dear Ingrid and Bernhard, thank you so much for the useful information you gave to those who will read this review.
