A million thanks for sharing your beautiful property with us! We really enjoyed the charm of the cottage and the location was perfect! There were many books and games to choose from as well as destinations to explore. The kids and our dog especially enjoyed digging on the beach, searching for crabs, starfish, wildlife, and shells. The Monday morning storm just added to our island experience. Hope to return soon!

Tantramar Cottage

What a wonderful spot!! We chose this cottage for a girl's getaway. It could not have been nicer. It is really very charming and not lacking anywhere. The garden is lovely and the view is spectacular. We will defintely return.

"Lovely cottages to rent. We have rented both cottages several times and love them both. They are clean, comfortable and tastefully done. At the same time they were great places for our family, cozy with a fireplace, books and a kids playarea for smaller kids. Tantramar house has a fabulous view of the ocean and we really liked the fireplace which is visible both in the living room and also in the master bedroom. Our son loved the heated bathroom floor! Both cottages are just steps from the ocean and we enjoyed a canoe paddle around the ocean. It was a lovely area to just walk along the beach or sit and read on the sunny deck. A great place to rest. We highly recommend it!"

This place exceeded our expectations. A lovely house on the beach with a fabulous view. The owners attention to details was incredible. The fire place was ready to be lit the decoration was beautiful. This is the perfect get away for a couple or a family. We will be back!

"Stunning views, Immaculate and tastefully decorated Cottage. This cottage is a real gem. Even before we stepped inside, we were wowed by the stunning views, well maintained garden and the charming porch area where you could comfortably sit all day and and night reading, relaxing, sipping wine and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The beach is just a few steps away. Walk inside the cottage and you immediately feel at home. The cottage is immaculate and beatifully decorated. Everything you need for a wonderful vacaiton is there. No matter if you are working in the kitchen, eating at the table or sitting in the living room, you have a beautiful view of the ocean. This is by far one of the best houses we have ever rented."

"Perfect Escape. Dowry House - lovely cottage and a great escape as no TV or Internet. Definitely would stay again. Lovely feel to old cottage. Stash of used books, games, puzzles, shells and candles contributed to the ancestral feel. Large deck and BBQ area surrounded by natural landscaping beckons one outside. Cottage is situated such that know the neighbors are close but not intrusive. Big living room windows on two sides provide lovely lighting and a view of the water and people walking by. Everyone was very friendly. Ferry to Crofton is a short walk away. Shopping a short drive. Island is lovely."

"Excellent Christmas Retreat. We have stayed at the cottage three times for Christmas. Twice at Tantramar and the last stay at Seagates. Our family of adult children is scattered and each year we pick a cottage to get together to celebrate the season. Over the years we keep coming back to these quaint cottages overlooking the ocean to reaquaint as a family. The cottages are extremely well appointed with all the conveniences for cooking and have a very homey atmosphere with the fireplaces and all the games in the cupboard for evening activity. Great places to stay. Will be going back soon."

"Great Girls Getaway. My girlfriends and I have rented Seagates 3 times over the past 2 years and plan on coming back for years to come. It's a great place to spend a girl?s weekend away. Seagates is situated right on the bay and we love to sit in the living room or on the deck and enjoy the view. There's also steps leading down to the beach if you want to go explore while the tide is out. We've also rented the Dowry house when there's more then 6 of us and it works out perfectly as the two cottages are only a step away from each other and we can walk between them quickly. Both are beautifully and comfortably furnished and fully stocked with all the dishes, towels, etc we've ever needed. I highly recommend these cottages to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable, relaxing place to stay."

"Home away from home. We have stayed in the Tantramar Cottage on numerous occasions because it has everything we need for a comfortable vacation. We have young children so the fenced large yard is a great bonus as well as the complete kitchen. The house is comfortable and peaceful and with direct access to the beach we are never bored. Our stays there are all about relaxing with no hectic schedules. And the view tops it off! I'm sure we will continue to return for years to come!"

"Delightful cottage on the beach. My partner and I along with our dog Biscuit stayed at the Tantramar in March 2009 for 3 days. We had an absolutely wonderful time on the island... and staying at the Tantramar was a highlight. It's on our list to stay there again as soon as possible! It exceeded our expectations - and that is rare :) because we are very picky. All the little touches were very much appreciated down to the properly folded towels...not to mention the well equipped kitchen, i.e. knives that are actually sharp, all the equipment you would need and more, proper matching linens, full sets of nice china including real china cups... the double sided fireplace through the livingroom/bedroom and the heated bathroom floor. The price was a little more than we wanted to spend, but it was worth every penny. Am I gushing now? The only drawback to my rave reviews is that more people will know about it now and we may not get our next booking as easily!"

"Excellent for family vacation and relaxation. We were extremely happy with the facilities and location of this cottage, It was very well appointed and the laundry equipment and dishwasher were much appreciated as our group of 6 included 2 young children. The sunset views were phenomenal, the cottage itself comfortable and attractive and the beach area was great for kids' explorations (too cold for swimming in May though!)"

"Great stay for two young families.We rented the home with another couple who have a baby the same age as ours, about 9 months old. You never know how it's going to go with babies but this house was perfect. Plenty of room for all the gear, gorgeous view, lovely fireplace, nice big kitchen for everyone to bump around in. Beautiful setting for relaxing after the babies were put to bed! The weather was cold and rainy which means we spent more time indoors than we usually do on holiday and this cottage was perfect for that"

""A Perfect Paradise. As new pet owners we were scouring the web to find a dog friendly, close but not too close, cottage to rent for 5 days over spring break. Our searches yeilded a fairly small selection of choices but when I stumbled onto Salt Spring Island Cottages I knew I had found something. The cottages are in the quaint little cove of Vesuvius Bay and practically sit right on top of the water. There is direct private beach access from our cottage and a large yard filled with fruit trees. We arrived to find a sparkling clean, fully stocked, "Perfect Paradise" as our 7 year old described it. The bed linens were charming, the wood basket brimming with kindling, and the views incredible. We had intended to spend the week exploring the island, visiting friends and beachcombing, but we enjoyed hanging out in the cottage so much that we left only a few times. The kids enjoyed playing with the board games in the cupboards and having tournaments of ping pong on the table in the basement. Our puppy had a grand time running on the beach, doing laps of the beautiful yard and when inside, ensconced herself on the window seat. We had such a wonderful time relaxing together that the kids began started planning our return visit before we had even left. Salt Spring Island Cottages were an incredible value and Janet and the island support crew were wonderfuly helpful. We look forward to our next visit and have already started steering our friends towards this little jewel." Please note: These guests stayed at Seagates which is now Pet Free. Tantramar and Dowry House are Pet Friendly.
