Shaun & I discussed a year prior what he might like to do on his 50th. birthday- Joshua Tree came up as a place Shaun visited years ago and loved. We spent countless hours discussing and looking at possible options. in the last weeks just prior to his birthday we still didn't have a fromal plan. I decided to check out vrbo, and there you were...meant to be all along. Many things were already booked as, as it turns out, his birthday was Good Friday...Easter weekend, and so much was already taken. Rancho Mojave was a gift that found us...And- It was perfect for this occasion. it was such a treat to have met you this Easter weekend, as you, Ron and the casita were a gift from an Angel. We thank you for your stories, your warm hospitality & your sweet welcoming gift! Thank you! All our best to you and all your guests to come. This place is such an Oasis! And it provided us the heaven...to recharge...after a long many years of pushing forward to create in our home, something of what you have created here...a sanctuary. Our love and gratitude, Maria T. & ShaunDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The casita was charming, cozy, and welcoming. It had wonderful artful touches throughout the house and the grounds. It was a wonderful place for 2 of us though there was another double bed tucked into an alcove and the sofa could be opened into another bed. It was very well maintained with perfect kitchen equipment if one wanted to stay in and cook. It was a peaceful vacation home. The owner was very helpful and prompt with replies and information. Everything was as promised by the description and photos. But it was even better in real life. It is a 15 min drive to Joshua Tree National Forest and is close to the famous local music/food palace-Pappy's (I think) . great weekend getaway from the LA area.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Jean, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I am so thrilled you felt welcomed, comfortable and loved our casita as well as the beautiful surroundings. There has been and is a lot of love put into this place and I appreciate you saw and felt it. Please do come back so that we can meet in person. Best, Cecilia & Ron

Rancho Mojave is an excellent get-away for those seeking a desert experience. The landscape is stunning and the silence such a welcome relief. The casita is charming and very comfortable. Our hosts, Cecelia and Ron, are generous and kind people who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A basket of fruit, wine and chocolate was there to greet us. Both the back patio and the front porch were perfect places to drink morning coffee in the sun and watch the birds. The views from all windows were truly gorgeous. The casita is isolated enough to feel private and only a half hour to the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. You will find everything you need in Yucca Valley which is 15 minutes away. We would go back to Rancho Mojave in a minute! f fRecommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Dear Cecilia & Ron, Thank you for allowing us to share your amazing property with you. We came here to allow our dog's leg to heal and in the process we all "healed in different ways". Your casita was just like home- clean, comfortable and the decor is impecable. You both have done a fabulous job with this property and it shows. The town, people, land, animals and sunsets/sunrises were something we will be dreaming about and talking about for the rest of our lives. Such an inspiring, magical place. Thank you a thousand times over. Always, Matt & Kate, Rocky & Rex Toronto, CanadaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We leave with hearts overflowing with gratitude for the beauty and peace of your special casita. Everyday we found new wonders that revealed themselves- the embedded sites, perfectly placed windows to capture the majestic rock fomations, splendid patios that opened from tall views- capturing doors. We return to L.A. with the rest and stillness in our hearts. Thank you! Cynthia & LauraDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: My name is Cecilia Dighero and I was born in Chile from Italian parents. I came to the USA with a Fulbright scholarship to study English. I worked at the Chilean desk at the UN and as an International Representative for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in N.Y.C. I have tought Spanish at Pepperdine University and I am currently the head of the Spanish Department for Adult Education at Santa Monica College. My husband, Ron House, has been an actor/playwright in London, New York and Los Angeles. Co-founder of the British underground theatre group 'Low Moan Spectacular'. He is co-author of some Broadway hits such as 'El Grande de Coca Cola' and 'Bullshot'. He is a five time published playwright and has had 2 movies produced, one of them by Beatle George Harrison. He has taught playwriting at UCLA, CalState LA, Mexico City & London among others. He is currently working at the LAFilm School. The inspiration for Rancho Mojave is Cecilia's 250 acre horse and cattle ranch in Chile.
Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree:
We discovered the high desert to get away from the stress of the large city. We fell in love with this area because of the silence, the pure air, the mystical open spaces, the trasparent light, the spectacular sunrises & sunsets and the canopy of stars. A true communion with nature.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Excellent place to unwind, to watch the star filled nights, commune with nature and charge your batteries. Lots of gentle trails for hiking and exploring. Gorgeous Joshua Tree National Park nearby. Lots of Art Galleries and famous Pappy & Harriet Palace only 5 min. away. Home of the world famous sound baths at the Integratron.
