A lovely apartment in a great location

Guest: Ginny M. (-)
Date of Stay: 12/30/11 Review Submitted: 01/31/12

The apartment is spacious, exceptionally well-decorated and well-equipped. Our arrival and departure went very smoothly. The apartment is an easy walk to the beach, markets, shops, and the tourist sites in Nice. It was so convenient to take the train for daily excursions to Villefranche, Monaco, Menton, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Cannes. No one in their right mind would want to drive a car (and try to park) along the Cote d'Azur, so this is the way to go. After the day's excursions, we were happy to come back to this comfortable apartment to relax for the evening or go out to one of the local restaurants.

Excellent experience in every way...

Saying “thank you” seems rather inadequate for our gratitude for having had the chance to stay in this wonderful apartment. Six weeks there and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. This is, I think, the 10th time we have rented in France and the other times were only for a week or two. This is the longest we ever stayed anywhere and this apartment, without a doubt, was the most comfortable place we have ever stayed. The apartment was nicely decorated – not cast-offs and so it very much felt like a “home.” The bed was really very comfortable – and that was true for both us. And that’s a real accomplishment as generally I like soft beds and my husband likes firmer beds. But we both slept like logs. The pillows were terrific, too. We used the portable fan and put it in the bedroom to act as a white noise generator and that worked well. The living room chesterfields were very comfortable (have to say there were frequent naps after those long days of tramping about)! The windows when closed really do block out much of the street noise, so the apartment was reasonably quiet. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere just about: the beach, old town, the marché at Liberation, the swimming pool, the port, etc. etc. There was no need for a car at all. When we went further afield we took the bus or train. What a treat to work in a kitchen which actually has sharp knives! And just about everything with which I wanted to work was there. As I enjoy cooking and the kitchen easy to work in, we ate in frequently. The Monoprix is convenient -- go early for best selection of fresh produce and herbs. Or treat yourself to an outing at the marche at Liberation. Eating out? We ate at a lot of restaurants heading south from the apartment towards the sea. Close at hand was Les Viviers which was fabulous - we had a celebratory dinner there and the food, presentation, service and ambience were perfect. We also enjoyed Le Tono across the street for an informal lunch on a couple of occasions. The local representative was great to work with. In fact, we hired her as guide/French language coach for a few outings and that was good practice! And the owners were very helpful to us in advance of our trip; they answered all sorts of questions very promptly. Having internet access, particularly for such a long stay as ours, was really handy for staying in touch with home. What else can we say? We just hope we have a chance to go back!

fantastic stay in Nice-great for family!

Date of Stay: 06/02/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

Our family enjoyed a weeks stay in Stuart and Julie's apartment in June 2011. From the beginning of our reservation inquiry in February, Stuart was very helpful and always prompt to respond to any questions that I had in addition to sending me several helpful links to ensure that our experience was a relaxing one. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Marilia, who gave us a tour of the apartment and provided us with good suggestions for shopping and restaurants. The apartment's neighborhood location was ideal for us and the layout also worked very well. Additionally, we enjoyed walking the 2 minutes to the bakery every morning for our chocolate croissants and shopping at the Monoprix grocery store, which was also only about a 3 minute walk and had everything we needed. purchasing a week's pass for 15 Euros per person for the Tram and Bus made getting around Nice so easy and we spent time in Old Town and the Beach every day. All are very close and accessible. We especially enjoyed being in a neighborhood environment and feeling as though we were a part of the city and residing with all the locals. it truly made our experience more authentic. During our stay, we also visited the medieval town of Eze, as well as Cannes and Monaco, all a very short distance away and are wonderful day trips. We look forward to staying in the apartment again the next time we are in the south of France!

Our second stay in Nice

Guest: bo/jo (Northfield, VT, USA)
Date of Stay: 05/14/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

We stayed in Stuart and Julie's apartment the last two weeks of May 2011. This was our second stay, the first being in May of 2009. Nice is such a beautiful place we just had to come again. Stuart and Julie's loving attention to comfort and beauty in every detail is worth noting here. This place does not feel like a rental, perhaps because this is Stuart and Julie's vacation getaway as well. The lovely pictures on this website are what you get. The place is immaculate and convenient to just about everything including Old Town and neighboring Med. and hillside towns (easy by bus). Marilia, their apartment manager, is a delight and just a phone call away if there's a problem. When we come back to Nice, we'll stay here again.

Owner response:It is always great when past clients return to our apartment in Nice. Julie and I visit our apartment 4/5 times a year and like the apartment to have a homely feel to it. We love returning to Nice and feel very home from home in our apartment

This was a quiet, spacious apartment in a perfect neighborhood. Pharmacy, bakery, walkin clinic (our son had bronchitis), post office, Monoprix all within easy walking distance along with fresh produce markets. 5 minute walk to Place Masséna and Promenade des Anglais. The apartment is comfortably furnished with a washing machine and a nice size kitchen. Our son found the sofa in the living room uncomfortable for his back. He put it on the floor, and problem was solved. This may sound serious, but it wasn't. There was plenty of room and did not interfere with our enjoyment of the place. The toilet also got clogged, and Marilia was terrific about getting there. She is helpful and gracious, speaks English well. (I speak French, but my ability to talk about clogged toilets in limited.) There is something in the closet that looks like a giant fire extinguisher, but it is a serious plunger. However, we had no more trouble with the toilet. This is a delightful place in a nice building in a charming neighborhood.

A winter week in Nice

Guest: Noel and Kathy (Fairfax VA)
Date of Stay: 12/06/10 Review Submitted: 01/04/11

This is the second winter time we spent in this apartment and it remains one of our favorite. Very spacious for France, quiet, warm and centrally located. A short walk to the Monoprix, tennis club, and the beach. The new furnishings are quite tasteful

Owner response:Our apartment is very warm in the winter months in Nice and is ideal for a winter break.

Excellant location and charming apartment

Guest: Loved Nice (New Jersey, USA)
Date of Stay: 10/02/10 Review Submitted: 11/09/10

My husband and I stayed at this property for one week in October 2010 and would return again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely spot in Nice! The apartment is just delightful and is in a perfect location. It is close to the beach and wonderful beachfront Promenade; it is steps away from the pedestrian zone which is a great spot for dining, shopping or people watching; it is a short walk to the daily flower/fruit market and many other sites in this beautiful city. (Please note, when you are renting in Nice you need to mindful that beachfront locations can be 1-2 miles from the center of town - and, with so many restaurants and activities "in town" that can be a problem.) But that is NOT the case with this apartment and that is what makes it so desirable. It is "in the heart of the Nice" and therefore close to so many local attractions. It is also close to trains, highways, and public transportation making it easy to visit other towns on the Riviera. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking just about anything - if you are inclined to do so. The supermarket is just two blocks away. The living room and bedroom are very comfortable and clean. The apartment has high ceilings which gives it the appearance of being larger than it is. It would very easliy accomodate up to 4 people. Most important though was the quality of repsonsiveness of the owners - every detail was attended to promptly and we had NO problems with the rental transaction whatsoever. We have rented previously and cannot stress just how detailed and helpful the owners were. I felt as if I had my own travel agent there to help me if I needed it. The local representatives (the meet and greet people that give you the key, etc.) are also excellant. This was a pleasure and I would recommend this property to any of my friends or family.

Owner response:We pride ourselves in providing all our guests with all the information they require to make sure everything about their visit to our apartment is catered for.

Excellent Stay

Date of Stay: 05/25/10 Review Submitted: 06/09/10

Apartment is wonderful, clean and well located. Stuart was very easy to deal with. Enjoyed wine & tapas across the street at the little wine bar. Easy walk to most of the sites. One note is that there is a lift to the unit but you must walk up a staircase first to get to that lift. I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in Nice. We especially enjoyed meals in Old Nice: Arrchiado and Le Tapenade. Stuart has a lot of helpful printed information on the area in the closet. Took a bus to Antibes & back - what a stunning town.

Have just returned from a 2 week stay in the beautiful city of Nice, where we were so fortunate to have found this lovely apartment. So much more comfortable and cosy than a hotel room. The rooms were spacious and tastefully furnished. Bright and sunny during the days, dark and quiet when the shutters are closed at night. Our adult daughter stayed overnight on several occasions during our stay and found the sofa beds very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfasts and evening meals. Access to telephone calls (with phone card)made it easy to stay in touch with our family at home. Will definitely recommend this place to friends. Thanks Julie and Stuart!
