Map & Owner's Profile

Why the Owner Chose Encinitas
We searched the entire coast of Southern California and couldn't find a more pleasing small beach town than Encinitas. With the combination of ideal location, family-oriented, clean beaches, good weather, exotic microclimate for growing produce and plants, we knew that Leucadia would be the ideal spot for our vacation rental home.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Incredible Farmers Market one block away (Paul Ecke School) every Sunday
Seasonal produce from owners' local organic garden as a welcome gift (or other local treat)
Spa treated with "BACQUA" products - no chorine, no bromine, all natural
On the property there is a delicious avocado tree and a Nopale Cactus with edible leaves.
Botanical variety of plants on the property is educational and interesting (we provide a botanical map)
Large variety of birds in the treetops of the property
Hummingbirds feed in the wild honeysuckle tree on the patio
Tallest group of 3 palm trees in the area (you can use as a landmark when walking from the beach) in the front yard
Designer lighting and original brick pathways with giant jade tree forest is a wonderland for children and adults alike, day and night.
Vintage front porch swing to take in the garden delights.
Giant mock orange trees and hedges make the air fragrant in season
Second floor Tower Bedroom with screened windows all around and private balcony, views of the tree canopy -- feels like a luxury treehouse.

Magical get-away

This truly is a fantastic get-away retreat. A beautiful home with additional buildings with apartments in a very lovely, private setting: magical gardens with intriguing paths, a private compound, beautiful accommodations with every creature comfort, including a real cook's kitchen. Everything is top quality (high thread count cotton sheets, excellent mattresses, comfy duvets, comfy furniture), classy, tasteful, scrupulously clean. Comfortable nooks everywhere. A wonderful place for a romantic getaway, or for a large family reunion. In the heart of old Leucadia, close to wonderful cafes, restaurants, beaches, walking streets, etc. The only problem: The property is so delightful, serene, comfortable with nearly every creature comfort, that it's difficult to leave to explore the environs. Wonderful food stores nearby, excellent restaurants, beautiful beaches. This property is in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. I've been recommending this property to everyone I know--it's perfect for any age group, for large or small groups of people, for short or long-term stays. Well, maybe not short-term: it was a wrenching experience to leave after only 5 days--I wanted to stay forever.
Owner response:Thank you for your review!

We had a two-family vacation at this property during July 2011. My family (two kids) stayed in the casita while the larger family (4 kids) we went with stayed in the main home. It is a great location for access to the beaches at Encinitas and Cbad. Our kids loved Moonlight beach-the tide pools kept them busy and it is worth the short (5 minute) drive and 10 bucks to park. We did most of our 'living' on the big table in the courtyard-it was the center of our activites. Great details and touches on the homes-including the awesome craftsman details like windows and floors.

Thank you so much for hosting us at your lovely house! It was perfect for our group - the teens especially loved having their own separate casitas. we also enjoyed the spa dna dht chimenia as our weather was unseasonably cool. We hope you'll allow us to host you in the future either in Mexico, or Ventura, at our vacation rental homes. Thanks again!

This extened family arrived from the far ends of the world -- Christchurch, NZ and Arcadia, CA, to stay at Casa Leucadia and meet the newest family member, from Cardiff-by-the-Sea. "Great house, lots of places to explore and fun surprises around every corner. We loved eating outdoors, ringing the bell at the gate, playing with the lizard in the tree and M (18 mo) and L (2-1/2) found treasures everywhere! Aunt E, Uncle T and L(7 days old) came to visit every day and there was plenty of room for all. We even had an Easter egg hunt in the jungle...all in a wonderful and relaxing week!"

We had her family reunion. Family as far as Alaska and Georgia came. Seven days of fun in the sun. Remember you can walk out to the waves so don't forget to bring a board. Don't get lost in this house it is very interesting. Don't cross the street and RR tracks, just walk to the main entrance to the beach. Hope you enjoy like we did! Bikes and boogie boards were lots of fun. Great place for the reunion thanks! Thirty-two years and The Monopoly Tyrant has finally been overthrown in this very location!

My whole family fell in love with this house. Plenty of space for each couple and all kids to have their own privacy and spread out. Amazing patio space with various nooks, tables & chairs (including wonderfully big, beautiful patio table with enough space for us all to dine together under the stars), walkways, beautiful landscaping - we hardly spent any time inside! Easy access with the beach just a couple minute drive away, and lots of goodies provided in the shed: bikes, bookie boards, buckets & shovels. Great place to reconnect - we were sad to leave and very much hope to return!

We had a fabulous week here with three families in August. The kids adored the yard to play capture the flag. The adults loved the various courtyards for cocktails and quiet time. We ate so many meals at that wonderful square table outside that sits 10 easily and many fun board games there too. The kitchen with the big open windows was the perfect go between to the courtyard as we passed out big bowls of pasta, salad etc. All the beds were so comfortable and well maintained. The jacuzzi and hammock other fun spots for the kids. The two houses served us well as one house stayed up later than the other but there was no noise issue at all. Can't wait to come back!

The Casitas at the Hacienda Retreat in Old Leucadia is a well kept secret paradise resort. My two young adult children and myself had an amazing two month stay at the Casitas as our final residence before returning to the East Coast. We adored the courtyard, the location, and the atomsphere of the place. Everything is within walking distance, be it food at a farmer's market, music at a local restaurant, or just enjoying the property with friends. We loved it, and hope to return in the near future.
