I rented this cottage for a three night retreat with a girlfriend. There was no coffee, filters, nothing, not even a trash can in the kitchen. The dishes were like garage sale rejects, one wine glass, and the place needs painting, bedside tables and lamps in the second bedroom. For the price, I would never stay here again. FYI- for children/pool usage. The pool is about 75 yards away, not close to the house.
Owner response:Hi Amber, we are sorry about your experience during your stay. Coffee filters are not included in the amenity list for this property. The kitchen trash can is under the cabinet behind a cabinet door. As for the shortage of wine glasses, sometimes they do break and the inventory hasn't been increased between check ins...we wish you would have contacted us we would have been happy to bring you some more wine glasses as well as tell you where the trash can is and direct you to to the local grocery store for coffee filters. The private swimming pool has a pool cabana with restroom and refrigerator so guests do not have to walk to the main house for those needs. Many of the families that stay at this property see the distance between the main house and the fenced in swimming pool as a benefit when little ones are staying as they can play near the house and the parents don't have to worry about them falling into the pool as soon as they look away. As for the furnishings, the owner was recently at this property and replaced several items including adding a new sleeper sofa in the living room to accommodate more guests. Due to the fact that this property is so popular and has back to back bookings we have been unable to get in to get the new pictures for our website...be will be able to soon. We do hope you come back again and have a more enjoyable experience. Regards, Josie

Loved the privacy of this secluded country cottage near Wimberly! The pool was nice and we swam daily over the 3 days we were there. We saw some deer most days. It was very hot outside but cool in the cottage. The pictures accurately represent the place, although the pool was further away from the house than we expected. This was not a problem, though. It was clean. No complaints there. It is a rustic sort of place, not a luxury condo, but that is what we expected, so we were not disappointed. It could use a few more kitchen towels and supplies, if you plan to cook there; i.e., no salt or foil, and only 1 roll of paper towels were there). The propane grill by the pool was nice, but had to light with matches. Pool was pretty clean but self-cleaning robot seemed to have some problems. There are some electrical issues they should fix such as the barely hanging ceiling fan in smaller bedroom, hanging by one wire. Overall, I would recommend the place and we probably will want to go back again sometime!

The photos do not portray this property as it does not show all the things that need to be fixed...pool was dirty, solar lights were all busted with glass everywhere and the fire pit seating area was a mess. Broken metal slider around burn pit. Ceiling fan in the bedroom fell apart at midnight and the light hung from the cords. Bathroom sink faucet leaks badly. The bathtub is dangerously slick! Seating in the living room is torn and worn, needs better seating and there is no lighting in there at all. Pool House kitchen area was filthy. Furniture on the porch has stained, dirty, and very uncomfortable cushions so there is no place nice to sit. Screens are damaged and looks like someone tried to break in at some point. Had this place lived up to it's description we would have all told our friends, who are planning trips to Wimberley to stay here but now we will tell them to avoid it. If the owner or manager would review the comment book they would know that many have said the same thing! Great potential but it needs a lot of work! We were terribly disappointed for the price as it did not match the property at all. We voted to not write in the comment book but to put our comments here instead. At the bottom of this review is asks who we would recommend this property to ... No One! The Manager of the property was called and advised of our concerns.

This wonderful, secluded home in the woods of Wimberley was a fantastic place to stay. We use VRBO on a monthly basis and these beds were the most comfortable yet!! From the wildlife to relaxing around the firepit, what a great place to spend the weekend! Wish we had gotten to stay longer!!

This is a great find – a repeatable destination. The beds are fabulous, house is clean, pool is perfect temperature, local skunk is well fed, owners make renting very simple, and the deer are plentiful. House and pool are privately set on the property away from neighbors.

What isn't mentioned in the description of this property is the possibility of wonderful encounters with the wildlife of the Wimberley valley. One night we took a walk in the early dark to enjoy the fireflies, a skunk walked by, and minutes later a herd of feral pigs came running through. Even driving up for the first time to the house, deer were all around, perking their ears up, watching us approach. Very, very magical!

This was an ideal setting to have our Thanksgiving holiday. The kids really loved being able to go out and wander and of course, visit the horses! We were in the hot tub ever night under billions of stars. The firepit really made the evenings too. Owners were great, and the fact that its dog and kid friendly made the stay supreme ! We are coming back again !

We spend a week at the Broad Creek Cabin and had a fantastic time. The cabin was very nice and comfortable, we loved the pool and cabana area. The creek on the property was so much fun to go play in with the family. Our dog had so much fun running all over the fenced in area. Lots of deer to see. We will return to this property for future vacations.

Cows, horses, foxes, skunks, deer, and squirrels entertained us daily -- all from the cottage's front porch! The accommodations and amenities were hotel-quality; beds, extremely comfortable. Pool and pool house are outstanding. Great for families. This will be an annual summer destination. Thanks for the memories!

This is a paradise in the middle of paradise. The house was everything you could have expected and then more. The pool area was unbelievable. And the fire pit was amazing. The home owners were great!! My family enjoyed every minute we spent there. The perfect place to relax and enjoy life. It is literally minutes to the heart of Wimberley. And just a few more to "Devil's Backbone". In my opinion one of the most beautiful scenic highways in Texas. It doesn't get any better than this. We are deffinatly coming back!!

We loved it! The cottage is remote and secluded, yet modern and comfortable. We saw deer every day and loved snorkeling in the crystal-clear river that is a brief walk from the cabin. Nights were silent, the stars were bright, and there was plenty of firewood. What a find! We'll be back.
