What a fantastic villa! Totally beyond our expectations! The place is just beautiful and has everything you need! My husband and 2 children (16 & 14) had a great time! The staff in the office were very helpful and arranged for a couple of great tours...all recommended by Neil & Verda! Picante Restaurant, by one of the property pools, was excellent and the staff treated us like old friends. It was all very welcoming and relaxing. We went on the Adventure tour at El Rincon de la Vieja and it was a blast...definitely a don't miss! The morning coffee on the veranda really helped set the tone for the day...so relaxing and beautiful! We loved seeing the Coatimundi and feeding him treats. We even got to see Howler monkeys from the veranda one morning as they worked their way across the property! What a treat! We look forward to returning soon and would definitely choose Neil and Verda's villa...they were so helpful in making recommendations and ensuring a good experience. Come see for yourself!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent 7 days and I can not say enough about how WONDERFUL if was. Everything was just as I imagined . The location is fantastic as is the scenery. The employees at the villa, so nice and ready to help in anyway. Both of us enjoyed the wildlife that came and visited for treats!! The Villa was so clean. It was like staying at a home. I would highly recommend this place and location. I plan on coming back as soon as we can. Check out the dinning and shopping while visiting. Great food and service!! Had so much fun shopping and meeting the locals. We also went site seeing and that was great, water tubing, horse back riding, zip lining... You will have to try the massages down by the ocean, so relaxing.....Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Hello Neil and Verda! We would like to thank you for the use of your beautiful place. We arrived to your gorgeous villa (just like the pictures and more)!) just before Christmas. My husband, son (16) and I had such a great two weeks! Thank you for all of your notes and recommendations as well as the Christmas stockings and gifts..it was truly thoughtful and a lovely touch. We met so many wonderful people in CR and at Pez Vela. Everyone was lovely and very helpful. We loved the Adventure day--WOW--and it was fun with the monkeys. My son and husband also took surfing lessons at Tamarindo and Kayaked at Coco and loved it (they were exhausted afterword). I miss the blue jay like birds I fed on the patio every morning and evening, sometimes I'd have several birds on my arms, head and shoulder (they LOVE raisins). Your place is beautiful on all fronts, the area is great (surprised by how terrific the grocery store was--nice selection of wines too:)). We have already recommended your place to friends and hope to return. Pura Vida!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My sons and their families met up here for a weeks holiday and it was perfect. Right on the beach with a magnificant pool, everything worked wonderfully and the "Big Pool", just a few steps away as the ocean was. Owner was available by email to answer all questions; magical, beautiful and I would not hesitate to return. Thanks for a wonderful week.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is one of the most beautiful homes I've seen in Costa Rica. The view from the patio will take your breath away, the landscaping is lush and perfectly maintained. When you walk into the villa, the tropical decor says "Vacation"! It looks professionally decorated, with pastel colors and tropical prints in all the rooms. This Pez Vela resort is a wonderful community of 40 villas....rub elbows with the neighbors poolside at the Picante Restaurant and Bar. Really friendly and interesting people! You can walk down to the beach for fishing or snorkeling. But I enjoyed most just relaxing in the lounge chair on the patio, taking in the beautiful view. We watched whales playing in the bay for at least 30 minutes....an amazing sight. The owners, Neil and Verda, are extremely thorough in providing all the best amenities to make a stay just perfect. This is a true getaway!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent that last week at The FlyingVM Villa on Ocotal Beach and loved it! This villa and surrounding areas are beautiful. The pools in the complex have a fabulous view over the beach and ocean. The restaurants in the resort and on Ocotal Beach are wonderful and the people so friendly and helpful. We loved our sailing and snorkling trip which was so easily organized through the Bahia Pez Vela office. This villa has an amazing outdoor garden and patio with breathtaking views of the beach and ocean below. A beautiful place! Well appointed with lots of attention to detail. Very comfortable with kids as well. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We just returned from a week at The Flying V villa in Ocatel Beach, Costa Rica. The Villa was clean, nicely decorated, and the owners Verda and Neal Hutcheson tried to give it a personal touch. We were spending our vacation during Christmas week, so they personalized Christmas stockings with the names of myself, my wife, and my kids. The patio has a beautiful view of the forest and ocean as the villa is high up on a mountain, overlooking the ocean. The Guanacaste province is beautiful this time of the year with no clouds nor rain, with temperatures reaching the 90s during the day, and 70s at night. As we were traveling with active kids in early twenties and teens, we went on several excursions. I would expecially recommend one near the Rincon volcano where we did a combination of horseback riding, ziplining, river tubing, and a visit to a hot spring. The beach by the villa, however, is not the nicest. It is narrow, and not very picturesque. We had rented a car, and drove different days to other beaches. Three that we visited that were beautiful were Playa Danta, Playa Conchal, and Playa Grande. All in all, the vacation was enjoyed by all. The Hutchesons were always available to answer questions by e-mail, and had recommedations for touring and for restaurants. We highly recommend this villa for a vacationDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

It was the first trip here for all of us, and it has been amazing. We planned this trip a year ago. and I was hesitant ( i am very fair skinned and generally prefer cooler climates), BUT i can honestly say that this has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The girls are already plotting how we can move down her;) We want to open " Tres Gringas Rental Cars" and relocate. Some things we learned while here:1). "Pork chop is actually a piece of ham.2).The BEST ceviche is @ Picante.3).All distances to destinations should be doubled.4) SPF is ALWAYS necessary.4). Pepsi light is way better than any diet soda in the states.5)Puppies have the right of way-are well-fed and cared for.6) Massages on the beach=worth every colones!6). Take dramamine prior to the drive to Arenal.7). An entire family of Costa Ricans will fit on a one-seater bicycle. RECOMMENDATIONS to Fellow Travelers: 1). worth repeating: best ceviche is @ Picante.2). Dany @ Picanted is awesome-he will take good care of you.3). Cesar @ the office can make it happen-massages,zip-lining reservations,etc.4).SKY TREK zip-lines are amazing. 5).Linda Vista Del Norte in Arenal/La Fortuna was a great place to stay-view of volcano and lake, close to zip-lines, daiquiri's served upon arrival by Henry and BEST Tres Leches cake EVER!6). Father Roosters-great Lomito de la Casa- steak tenderloin w/ chimmichura sauce, try the coconut flan-key lime also good.7). 2 racoon friends-we named them Walter & one eyed Wally- So sweet and will take crackers from your hands.8). Come home by 6pm to watch sunset.9). "Typical food"=rice, black beans, plantains, salad &meat-Delicious! anything but typical. Verda and Neil- your home is beautiful. When we came back at night it felt like coming home. We have had such and amazing time here and are already planning our next trip. We all woke before 7am every morning (no alarm) and were so excited to greet the day. We slept like babies and played like children on the beach and in the pool. This has been the vacation of a lifetime. Thank you. PURA VIDA. p.s.5 adults- perfect for car rental. one more and you have to get 2 cars or a van (expensive).. fyi. Verda has a plethora of info for sights to see and places (driving directions too) to go. Their home is absolutely beautiful and extremely clean w/ a ton if linen and towels. Description and pics of their home do not do their place justice. Such an overwhelming, pleasant surprise. Have the time of your life. I know you will.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This villa was excellent! It was clean, bright, well maintained and very comfortable for 4 adults. The view of the ocean and sunsets were spectacular! The private black sand beach is a short drive or walk from the villa. In June, we basically had the place to ourselves to swim in the luxurious pools or clear, calm ocean. The snorkeling and shell collecting were incredible! The onsite restaurant was high quality and reasonably priced! The owner’s, Verda and Neil were amazing! They ensured our stay was comfortable and had champagne and a birthday cake upon our arrival. They were extremely personable, flexible and accessible. They responded quickly to every email or phone call and were instrumental in helping me plan my Costa Rica vacation. I highly recommend this property and I will be back!!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My four girlfriends and I just got back from a fabulous week at the Flying V Villa. From the moment we inquired about the property, the owners were extremely friendly and helpful in giving us tons of information about the area and ways to entertain ourselves while we were in Costa Rica. The Villa itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated with amazing views. The kitchen has everything you need to cook all your meals, but I highly recommend checking out some of the restaurants in the surrounding areas. Waking up each morning and looking out to the black sand cove, or enjoying a sunset cocktail on the veranda the views were incredible. We enjoyed using the two infinity pools and beach. The staff in the office was helpful in booking our excursions and very receptive to any questions we had during our stay. The neighbors were so friendly and welcoming and also gave us lots of tips and ideas for possible activities. Attention runners and power walkers....the area is very hilly so bring your sneakers for an incredible hill workout. Our experience at the Flying V was amazing and were so sad to leave but we can't wait to go back. You don't want to miss out on this great experience.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We are 3 couples that spent 15 sun and fun filled days at the Flying V Villa! The accommodations were as wonderful, if not better, than described and pictured on the website, and the owners, Verda and Neil, made sure our stay was comfortable and our every need was satisfied. From the moment we arrived to find champagne and birthday cake, to the arrival of a brand new grill after we requested a replacement part for the existing grill (all compliments of V & N), we were made to feel welcome and wanted. This Villa is situated at the top of the hill overlooking lush gardens with unobstructed views of the Pacific. The "secret" infinity pool is just a few doors down, and we were often the only ones there. The patio was a great place to begin each day, where we hand fed the Vegas bluejays each morning while enjoying the breathtaking views. After a day of adventure, we also appreciated relaxing on the patio while enjoying cocktails before dinner. The kitchen was fully equipped so meals were easy to prepare and serve. The on site restaurant, "Picante", served delicious entrees for lunch/dinner and the staff quickly became our Amigos. The staff at the main office was also exceptional, they shared much knowledge of the area with us and went out of their way to help us with accommodations at Arenal as well as booking excursions. When it comes to sleeping, I am like the princess and the pea, often I don't sleep well when away from home. I had no problems sleeping here, as the beds were comfy and firm, the ac worked wonderfully, and the location is quiet and peaceful. Also, FYI, we drank tap water throughout our travels without any problems. Costa Rica is abundant with natural beauty and wildlife. We thought this villa was a great home base for us. We often spent our days out exploring the beauty of the country and appreciated returning "home" in the evening. Renting a car is highly recommended. The locals, aka "Ticos" are warm and friendly. We have no hestitation in recommending the Flying V Villa and the warm hospitality shown to us by its owners. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A very modern and updated home. Tastefully decorated without a bunch of clutter. All the amenities of home and we never lacked a thing. We had a family group of six adults and never felt cramped or crowded. Everything was in good working order. Beautifully landscaped with a wonderful view of the bay! The veranda was spacious and we spent considerable amount of time enjoying the numerous lounging options early in the morning and late afternoon/evening. The owners were great to work with regarding our initial booking and on going questions about the villa. They were very accessible and prompt with responses to our numerous questions. We never felt like we were bothering them. The owners were very hospitable and added some personal and unexpected touches for our vacation stay. The villa property was better than we expected! The Bahia Pez Vela location was impressive with well maintained grounds, security, staff assistance at the office and restaurant. Without hesitation we would highly recommend this as a vacation destination. We enjoyed the quaintness of Playa Coco and the village had everything we needed. The Auto Mercado grocery store was impressive, clean and modern. We enjoyed the seafood at Claudio and Gloria's that is a local establishment located on the beach in Playa Coco. The tourist shopping is small but adequate with all of the typical tourist trinkets. The local tour companies always picked us up and dropped us off at our front door of the villa. The Bahia Pez resort staff were very helpful in explaining and booking the tours for our group. We will be coming back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I only have extremely positive things to say about the Flying V Villa, the location was gorgeous, and the view from our balcony and bedrooms upstairs was breathtaking. The staff extremely friendly, and helpful, the property was spotless, very welcoming, and beautifully decorated. The pool was beautiful, mostly had to ourselves with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Must have a car---the hills are very steep! Only down side, was a little confusing getting too...but when we did arrive we were more than pleased with our property...we will definitely go back again, SOON!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I spent a week at the villa in May with four other friends. Neil and Verda were very helpful in the weeks leading up to our trip and provided us with all sorts of information about the area. They even left a welcome present and note for us. The villa is even more beautiful than the pictures show. Everything is well taken care of and there is an amazing view from the patio. The villa was equipped with everything we needed. The staff at the resort were very friendly and so helpful. Upon our arrival, after a very long day of travel, we called the resort restaurant to see if they were still open and they sent someone in a golf cart to pick us up so we wouldn't have to try and find our way in the dark. Cesar and Allison in the office provided many suggestions for activites and restaurants and helped us book tours. We had the beach practically to ourselves the whole week and there is a very private infinity pool just a few steps down the road from the villa! It was a great vacation and I would reccomend a stay at the Flying V to everyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I just celebrated my sixieth birthday and had been planning for a year what I wanted to do.. It started out as a girls weekend for six, but because of unforeseen situations, it ended up being two. My bff of 50+ years and I.. We enjoyed this villa sooooo much, we are planning to do a trip every year. It is absolutely beautiful! The people are so very friendly and the views from this place are breathtaking. We went shopping, did a sunset cruise and just lazed around from the patio to the beach, to the pool. The pictures shown dont lie. Tastefully decorated andeverything at your fingertips. The owners, Neil and Verda had champagne and gifts waiting for my birthday. How nice was that? They even called to see if we were there and if we needed anything.Everything was perfect. Only one regret, listen to them, you do need a car..We stayed a week and taking a cab was easy, but a car would have been more convenient.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at the Flying V right after Christmas thru the New Years. The Villa is absolutely gorgeous with the most amazing view of the beach. The Villa is spacious and decorated well, Its a home away from home. The owners were both so helpful with the booking of our trip. They sent us many recommendations of activities prior to our arrival so we were able to plan everything (plus some) that we would like to do. The Staff at Bahia Pez Vela was great. Everyone was so helpful and eager to help in any way. We booked the riverboat ride thru the office and had the time of our lives. We saw many animals and the white faced monkeys got onto our boat and ate bananas out of our hands. The Villa is in a great location and everything was very easy to get to. We drove to Arenal one day, spent the day doing the ziplines through the rainforest, driving to see the volcano and ended up at the Hot Springs which was fabulous! (prices at hot springs goes down at 6:00) There are several beaches close by that we visited. One of our favorites was at Santa Rosa National Park. It is Playa de Naranjo. You can either hike or drive down to the beach. Many of the roads to get to the beaches are bumpy dirt roads. We suggest renting a car that has 4 wheel drive. Playa de Naranjo was breathtaking. Not many people were there so it was like having the beach to ourselves. There were stingrays swimming all around. Cortez waterfall, which is very close to the Villa is where many locals go. It is another beautiful place. We had the best time on this trip. We do recommend renting a car, getting a map and exploring. Everywhere we drove there had beautiful scenery and all of the people were great. We did not have one bad meal, all the food was so good. We cant wait to go back to Bahia Pez Vela!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Neil and Verda, We cannot even begin to tell you how much we enjoyed your Villa. The view is absolutely breathtaking. My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary and it was truly the best vacation we have ever taken. Everyone at the Villa was wonderful. The staff were all so nice and helpful. We took the Riverboat ride and booked thru the office Bahia Pez Vela and that was an experience that everyone needs. We followed the tour bus in our rental car so we could visit Tamarindo after our adventure on the river. We hand fed the white face monkeys. The crocodiles were an arms reach away from our boat eating chicken from the guides. We saw Howler Monkeys, bats, iguanas and many different kinds of birds. The lunch we were fed after the tour was awesome. We visited Playa de Coca, Negra, Conchal, and Playa de Naranjo (at Santa Rosa National Park) Playa Naranjo was gorgeous. From park entrance the beach is about a 2 hour hike or you can drive the trail but it is a bumpy ride. However, paradise is at the end of that VERY rough ride. It was soft sand and not many people there. There were great waves and we got to body surf (we watched a few locals and caught on quick) You could see stingrays swimming in the waves. There were surfers camping close to the beach and said sea turtles were on the beach in the evening nesting. We went to Arenal as well. It took about 3 1/2 hours to get there but again was worth the drive. We booked thru ecoglide and ziplined across the Rainforest. We followed that up by hiking to the waterfalls. To complete a perfect day, we went to Tabocon (Hot springs), It is cheaper to go after 6:00. Im sure it would be a totally different experience during the day but it was so relaxing and beautiful in the evening. We snorkeled on the beach in front of the Villa and saw some beautiful fish. All of the restaurants were great. We didn't have a single meal that wasn't fantastic and everywhere was priced VERY reasonable. We are already trying to plan for our next trip to Costa Rica. We are so grateful that you allowed us to rent your Villa and all of your advice helped enormously. We woke to the Howler Monkeys in the trees behind the Villa. We watched them for most of the morning. In the evenings, we had a family of raccoons that would come right up to the chairs we were sitting in and try to climb up there with us. It was great!!! I cant thank you enough, your Villa is in the perfect location! Thank you!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this gorgeous villa for our honeymoon. It was truly paradise and more; private beach included. The photos are beautiful, however, the first hand experience was spectacular. The villa had everything you could need, with plenty of extra towels, sheets, etc. The views literally took our breath away, and we felt extremely secure and safe! We had to drive through two different security gates to get to the community. Also we can not say enough about how helpful the office was with booking excursions. The staff at the restaurant went above and beyond, even bringing flowers to the villa in the morning for my husband's birthday. The owners also left us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon! We truly recommend this property and plan to visit again someday! My husband, parents and two teenage children recently stayed at Bahia Pez Vela and absolutely loved the place. The split-level villa was light and airy with great views overlooking the beach. Every morning we awoke to the interesting sounds of the howling monkeys and a variety of birds. Almost every day, we snorkled right off the beach and saw hundreds of fish as well as eels on both sides of the cove. Although I had read that snorkeling equipment could be rented one cove over at the Playa Ocotal Beach Resort, I was glad we had brought our own gear with us. Neil and Verda gave us very detailed information about restuarants and activities in the area. We found all of their recommendations to be excellent, including Papagayo Pura Vida, Father Roosters, La Caveja, the Congo Trail Canopy Tour, massages on the beach and our fishing charter company. Captain Raffi was booked, so his brother Captain Fausto took us fishing. We caught sailfish, mahi and amberjack. On the way in, Fausto called Papagayo Seafood Restaurant in Coco to arrange for them to prepare some of the fish we had caught........delicious and great fun. Bahia Pez Vela is very private and safe with 24 hour security.......only the people staying in the forty or so villas have access to the beach. The office staff is excellent -- friendly, competent and helpful in every way. The other guests we met were friendly and well-traveled. Our villa was a two minute drive down the hill to the beach.......we could have walked, but the walk back was quite steep. Our villa had a pool right down the street and another pool was down by the beach along with the Papagayo Pura Vida Restaurant. Be sure to try the mahi sandwiches for lunch. Every evening we enjoyed the sunset while sitting on the large comfortable patio. Our trip could not have been more restful or enjoyable. Already several of our friends want to go to Bahia Pez Vela, and we look forward to returning. One last thought.....we flew into San Jose; in the future, we will fly into Liberia. We don't want to lose any time at Bahia Pez Vela by driving or flying to and from San Jose.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful villa during the last week of June 2009 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Verda was so helpful in providing information on things to do and places to eat. When we arrived, there was a bottle of wine and a "memories" book as gifts waiting for us. What a nice touch!! This villa is absolutely beautiful and so private. Our favorite place was the patio where you could enjoy a cup of coffee and take in a spectacular view! As for the furnishings, they are top notch! Everything is spotless! We would highly recommend this villa as a beautiful place to get away from it all!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Beautiful!! We stayed at the Flying V during the first week of May. Everything worked out great! The villa is well appointed and maintained, and the pictures don't do it justice. The information/directions/tips I received from the owner prior to our trip was right on. We were only there for 4 nights and not able to do everything we wanted. We did day trips to Rincon, Playa Conchal and Congo zip lines. In Rincon park, we hiked to waterfalls and hot springs. I think there was a $5 charge to hike back to each. Playa Conchal is paradise! The water is beautiful turquoise blue. The beach had some crushed shells, but not too bad. Some in our group tried to snorkel there, but they said it wasn't that great...it may depend on the tide/surf. The staff at the Congo zip lines were excellent. We could have done the zip lines at Rincon for $50. Congo was $35. Every evening, we stopped at the Super Compro in Coco for great coffee at the 1820 coffee bar. However, someone told me that 1820 is a Nicaraguan (not true Costa Rican) coffee...oh well! We also walked around in Coco one afternoon and stopped at different bars...we asked where we could get fresh seafood, and we were directed to a place across from the crispy gallo...I forget the name, but it is a restaurant. We went in the restaurant, up the stairs to the back, and they had many deep freezers as well as fresh fish...the grouper was fresh that day, so we went back to the flying V and grilled it for a great dinner. All in all, a great trip. The villa was very comfortable. The views are amazing! We did not see any howlers on the property during our stay, but every morning, some blue birds visited us on the patio for some snacks. The raccoons came around at night, usually 2 or 3. They weren't mean, and would back off with a little shooing! I wish I could remember the names of the restaurants we ate at, but I can say that we did not have a bad meal anywhere, and the ceviche was always good!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Hi Verda and Neil, We just got home last night from a truly wonderful vacation in Costa Rica. Your beautiful villa, and the help that you gave us beforehand, were essential to our enjoyment of our visit. Your Costa Rican home is beyond anything that we could have imagined, even after viewing your web site. It is comfortable, secure, well furnished, attractively decorated and nicely landscaped. The location couldn't be nicer. Ocotal is a most attractive beach to our taste, mainly because it is small and almost private, not to mention the clarity of the water and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The views from your patio, from which we began and ended each day, will stay with us always. As you know, our son, his wife and our grandson were with us during the first week of our stay. They too enjoyed the comfort of the villa; however, the stunning views of the ocean from it seemed to touch them most. The main purpose of our visit to Costa Rica was to have some quiet time to hang out with our youngest son and his family; because of the distance between our homes, we don't see them often. Our week together was most memorable in this respect. We are aware that you would like to know about anything that might improve one's stay at your villa. We have nothing to add here. Everything was in place that we needed, all worked well, and was in good condition. Anyone, who could not have had an enjoyable time at your villa is lacking serenity. Again, thanks for the use of your vacation home and all the help that you gave us along the way. Undoubtedly we will want to return to Costa Rica. At that time we will be back to you about staying again at your place. We wish you well in the future. Mary Ann and Gene Santa Fe NMDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at the flying V from Jan 14-Jan 22 2009 and found the accomodations to be fantistic. The views of the Pacific and all the birds and "Howling Monkeys" made the stay even more enjoyable. Verda and Neil were wonderful to work with and her organization of all the various things to do made our trip so easy. We went on most of the tours but we enjoyed our two fishing trips the best. The all day trip ended with a 400 pound blue marlin catch and our 1/2 day trip ended with numerious red snapper which the restaurant cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend the Flying V villa for a great vacation rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family of five enjoyed two weeks at the Flying V Villa and surrounding areas. The villa is very comfortable and has an unsurpassed view of the Pacific. Many activities within reasonable drives. And the owners make you feel welcomed and try to assure a problem-free experience. If you need to be near an international airport and/or enjoy staying in one place for an extended time, and need space for family, this is an excellent choice.Did you find this review helpful? Grandaughter Molly said lets go somewhere fun to celebrate Moms' 50th birthday. The birthday gods for 50 year olds led us to the Flying VM. We were all so pleased with with the villa--wondeful fun decor--perfect for an island vacation. Every amenity possible. The place was spotless. We found the staff at the office very pleasant and helpful. The weeks stay included one cleaning--which was remarkably through. Very best of all was the patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean-- Parrots , Magpie Jays. Howler monkeys coconut palms, banana trees, Bouganvilla everywhere. The patio was in welcome shade all morning. The beach had an almost secluded feeling. The 3 infinity pools just off the beach were wonderful--as was the one just steps from our villa. We all agreed if we never did anything else we would be happy ocean gazing--however we enjoyed driving into Coco to nose around and do some shopping. We found the best shopping was on the way to the airport on the right--Kaltak Arts and Craft Market, but the ones in Coco were fun as well. We found a place to buy fresh fish up stairs from the large souvenier shop on main street in Coco. We cooked them on our gas grill. We can all hardly wsit to go back. My family and I spent a week at the Flying V Villa in July of 2008. We had a great time in Costa Rica but really found that so much could be done in and around Playa Ocotal. The pools at the complex were fantastic and the beach was clean, pure and safe. From the villa you are towering above it all with a beautiful porch that lets you take it all in comfortably. The place itself has ALL the comforts of home. The air conditioning is flawless and the house is bug-less (our two biggest concerns going in). I would suggest a 4X4 truck for the rainy season. Sometimes the backroads get a little muddy and bumpy but I found it fun with the right set of wheels. Do go see and experience the Cortez fountain which the Hutchinson’s gave us direction to. It’s not in the guide books, but that’s good, right? We’re hoping to come back to Costa Rica and when we do, we’ll be staying at the “Flyin’ V”. Thanks. The Gallagher’s 7/16/08Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family of 4 had the pleasure of a 2 week stay over Xmas/New Years. We were absolutely delighted with all aspects of this rental. The villa is spacious, well laid out and well appointed. The decor is bright and modern. Electricity, plumbing, lighting and air conditioning all functioned properly. The views are superb, especially from the large patio overlooking the ocean. There are many restaurants within a 15 minute drive including the on site Piquante Restaurant. The staff was helpful and easily accessable. Above all the owners (who we have yet to meet) were caring, helpful and most welcoming. Bottom line, I highly recommend the Flying V for a comfortable, worry free vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The owners of this villa are great to work with--lots of ideas, etc. The villa itself is perfect, the complex (Bahia Pez Vela)is great, good restaurant, pools, beach, staff, etc. Great weather and what a view!! We will come back again and again. Anyone who stays here will want to come back, trust me.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were at this Villa between June 28 and July 10, 2007. Although this was the "green season" the weather was just about perfect! I just put my pictures into a picture album and remembered what a great time we had. The Villa and this area of Costa Rica are a great place to visit. Highlight: My husband and two sons went sport fishing. Everybody caught something. One caught a huge sailfish and they were all thrilled. I stayed behind to walk around in the gardens and lounge by the pool. I would recommend Costa Rica as a good place for a vacation. I would definitely recommend this villa! It is wonderful.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just returned from a 10-day trip to beautiful Costa Rica. We were looking for accommodations to gather our family together (5 adults) for quite some time and finally found this condo. We booked it without really knowing what we were going to get and I have to say that we were very pleased with everything. Everything really was just as pretty as the pictures were - so many times we have found that that is not the case. The owners were so helpful with lots of info. to offer, i.e. car rentals, restaurants, etc. before we left on our trip. The condo was newly decorated and very clean and just felt like "home" to us. The view from the condo was spectacular! We loved the pool down by the water - not too crowded, but yet had a bar/restaurant and very helpful & friendly staff. I would recommend this place to my very best friends and family. Thanks for a lovely place to gather our kids together and kick back for some good times.Did you find this review helpful? We spent 3 weeks in CR and this villa was our final stop. We had a glorious, restful week at the Flying V. It was decorated beautifully and was extremely comfortable. Our kids loved both infinity pools and also spent alot of time just playing on the beach. Every morning my husband would sit out on the balcony to watch the 'parrot show'...as they would fly past. We would very gladly revisit this place!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
