Location: Poros, Saronic Gulf, Greek Islands, Greece, Europe (1 Hr. To Athens By Boat, 30 Min. To Epidaurus Ancient Theatr)
Accommodations: villa, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-8)
Built in the late 19th century, by the Greek Admiral Kountouriotis, this private villa, was his personal observatory headquarters, for traffic control of the Poros waterpass. Since then, it has been owned by various significant figures, in the Greek Naval Forces, including Admiral Saxtouris and Sergeant Contaxi. Today, though slightly differing in appearance from the original 1890's structure, due to it's recent renovation, this villa is a standing memory of history's Greek Naval presiding authorities.
Located by itself, on a headland that jets into the middle of the waterpass, between Poros and the Pelopponese, Villa Andora can be accessed by the private drive, to the main road or by boat, from the end of the dock. The home has 360 degrees of private property, with three quarters surrounded by water.
The ground floor consists of two front verandas and a wrap around veranda, on the east side, stretching about 240 degrees. The living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, hall and stairwell, can be found throughout the house. Upstairs are the sleeping and relaxing quarters, with two bedrooms, a lounge, office, sleeping area and the small veranda, which faces directly west, with perfect views of the sunset, over the "Sleeping Woman". Each bedroom has large windows, facing east, with open views to the sunrise and the master bedroom contains a full bathroom with jacuzzi.
The location of Villa Andora, is ideal for travellers interested in water-based activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, etc. with equalled access to mainland activities in the area, such as biking or hiking through the infamous lemon groves, the Devil's Gorge, and the Temple of Poseidon and Asclypio. Small road trips can also be made to the ancient theater of Epidaurus, which is only 30 minutes away, while high-speed boats travel to Athens in 1 hour and Hydra in 20 minutes.
Day trips to other Saronic Islands can also be made by the high-speed boats or ferries. The home is also ideal for those seeking refuge from the high buzz of city tourism. Standing completely on its own and only a short 5 minute walk from the town of Galatas, the only buzzing comes from the boats passing by and the few fisherman that frequent the docks.
