In Hawaiian ‘Hale Ka Makani Ala’ means House of the Fragrant Breeze. This name perfectly describes our fifteen acre home site as you experience the constant gentle trade winds will keep you cool and refreshed. The home sits atop Anini Vista, a secluded bluff overlooking Kalihiwai Bay, Kilauea Lighthouse and Anini Beach on the North Shore of Kauai. The cottage is nestled in a setting that gives you breathtaking and unforgettable views of the ocean and mountains in a jungle setting.

The Jungle Cottage is approximately 500 square feet with a 120 square foot lanai. This private, wonderful island retreat begins as you journey down the meandering tropical lined flowered path loosing yourself in the magnificent view of the North Shore mountains where you can often see waterfalls. Stop a moment and sit on a granite bench and just take in the serenity of where you are.

Once inside the Jungle Cottage you can relax in the comfort of its simple elegance. The bamboo floors, vaulted ceilings and unique copper ceiling fans will make you feel right at home. The living room invites you to come in, kick off your shoes and be one with the environment. Lounge on the vintage designed bamboo sectional couch under a six foot hand crafted banana tree. You can read by the Tiffany style stained glass lamp, enjoy watching cable television, a DVD movie or relax and listen to music on the CD player.

The kitchenette is nicely appointed and fully equipped with refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, blender and toaster. After preparing your light meal take a seat at the cozy antique Chinese dining set.

When you are ready to retire for the evening, take several steps up to the bedroom and bathroom. As you lie on the Balinese bed, you will have the same lush jungle and ocean views that you have when you are sitting in the living room. The Jungle Cottage provides for your comfort and is outfitted with a handmade Hawaiian quilt, sheets, bath and beach towels, and an iron and ironing board.

After a day of sightseeing or just enjoying nearby Anini Beach Park (half mile away), come home and lounge on the lanai in teak chaise lounges and prepare a light snack on the BBQ grill or enjoy a hot shower under the stars in the fern and orchid lined shower.

  • Amazing place to stay! My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Jungle Cottage and absolutely loved it. The outdoor shower alone made it completely worth it -- we both left convinced that we need to build one in our backyard! Our hosts hospitality and kindness was extraordinary, and the entire place was so clean and nice and lovely. Highly recommended!

  • If you want a place that is private, beautiful and where a lot of care has gone in to making your stay comfortable, then look no further. We stayed in January and both of us battled the flu but what a wonderul place to be sick. The outdoor shower at night. The early morning view of the lighthouse from the bed. The path from your car to the cottage. Unforgetable.

  • Last year we rented the Jungle Cottage for the first time and it changed the way we felt about hotels! The cottage's privacy, Mary's thoughfulness in appointing it, the feeling of being truly welcome made us want to go back and spend two more weeks there. Kauai's North Shore is fantastic and being able to go back to the cottage after days spent at the beach or hiking made it very special. Some of the highlights? The fantastic outdoor shower, the fresh fruit from Neil's orchard, the granola in the (lavish) welcome basket and waking up to the sound of birds. And did we mention what perfect hosts Mary and Neil are? Highly recommended.

  • The Jungle Cottage is so beautiful. We enjoyed our vacation very much. Mary and Neil are such wonderful people. Staying at the cottage was much nicer than any hotel. When you wake up in the morning you can hear the birds chirping and see the sun rise. Everything was just perfect. Did I mention that I love the outdoor shower?

  • We stayed at the Jungle Cottage for 4 nights in June 07 -- it is a perfect vacation spot to explore the North Shore. The cottage is private, has great views, and has all the amenities that you could ever need. We loved the outdoor shower and sitting out on the lanai at night under all of the stars. It was a perfect spot to relax in and enjoy a much needed vacation. We would definitely recommend the Jungle Cottage to our friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • The jungle cottage experience was much more than the description offered on the web site. One word highlighted our stay - Paridise. This place is a must if you want peace, serenity, seclusion, a top quality home away m home. Everything you need is there including the charming smiles and very helpful info from its gracious hosts, Mary and Neil. They aim to please and are very successful in their accomlishment.

  • Our stay at the Jungle Cottage was EXCELLENT! Mary has thought of everything that one might need, and it's there. We loved the fresh fruit/bread basket along with flowers and a card. You can't get that feeling at a "hotel". From the happy moment we arrived to the sad moment we left, Mary and Neil feel like family and we will be back to stay again.

  • We arrived in Kaui at the end of August, were blessed with fantastic weather and the Jungle Cottage made our vacation truly perfect. Mary, the owner, has appointed it so exquisitely you will find things you didn't even know you needed. We spent many a mornings just reading on the deck and gazing at the views and the outdoor shower is unforgettable. Mary and Neil are perfect hosts and we would definitely recommend this property. It's conveniently located yet very secluded. A true gem.
