Private Northwoods Three-Bedroom Getaway on Birch Lake
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This spacious three bedroom A-frame home sits on a wooded private lake-front lot on the beautiful narrows connecting Birch Lake (368 acres) and Big Chetac Lake (1920 acres) in northwest Wisconsin. Listen to the geese, ducks and loons; watch the eagles soar and the muskrat and beaver swim by. Catch walleye, bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern from the dock or from a boat. Enjoy the variety of vegetation: wild strawberries, orange paint brush, wild columbine, giant trillium, lush ferns, majestic pines. Cook breakfast over an open fire in the fire ring or bask in the warmth of a late night fire huddled together on rustic log benches.
The loft, with private bedroom (king) and bath, opens to the living room below furnished in a northwoods motif and featuring a three-sided stone wood-burning fireplace.
Walk out onto the deck overlooking the lake where there's plenty of patio furniture to relax and enjoy outside meals. The dining room has a round oak table that can seat eight; there is also a kitchen counter with barstools.
The spacious, L-shaped kitchen is fully-equipped. Rounding out the main floor is another bedroom (king), bath, and utility room with washer and dryer. Just outside the front door is a gas grill.
The lower level features a third bedroom with bunk beds and a newly-built pine and tile family room with walk-out glass doors affording a beautiful view of the lake.

Our family has taken week-long vacations to this cabin three times in the last five years. We've stayed several places on Birch Lake, and this is by far our favorite. This quiet, spacious house has a beautiful view of the channel and we love having breakfast on the deck each morning. It is such a nice, comfortable place to get away from the chaos of life and reconnect with our family. Tim and Jennifer are wonderful hosts and the house has everything we needed and more.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We've rented this house two years in a row--each time having an entertaining and relaxing vacation with all members of our family (ages 5-73). The unit is clean and comfortable...not too 'cabin-y', but the perfect setting for a lake getaway. There was plenty for everyone to do: grilling out, reading on the deck, water activities, fishing. Nearby, Birchwood is small but has enough to offer if you need a break and want to head into "town". Not only was the place wonderful, Tim and Jennifer were so pleasant and easy to deal with. Really nice people, who make you feel at home. Can't wait until next year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. Plenty of space for a large family. The 2 lakes were perfect for a relaxing pontoon ride. There is a public beach that you can get to by car or boat for the kids. There is also a sand bar on the larger lake to enjoy. The owners were very accomodating and met our needs. The cabin had everything we needed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

About the owner: Tim and Jennifer and their three now-grown children have long enjoyed vacationing in northern Wisconsin--fishing, boating, just relaxing together with "family time." Now they enjoy this wooded getaway whenever they can, and they want to share it with you and your family! Jennifer teaches at a college in northeast Iowa and Tim is a former dairy farmer, now a home energy auditor. They have made wonderful new friendships as they've welcomed vacationing guests into their lake home. Will you be next?
Why the Owner Chose Birchwood:
We chose this location because it offers private, wooded lakeside homes/cabins yet is just minutes away from "necessities" and conveniences found in nearby Birchwood--a small town with friendly people. It's fun having two different lakes to enjoy--Big Chetac and Birch. It's also nice being just 30 minutes away from larger towns that offer big box stores, small shops, movie theaters, recreation opportunities, interesting museums, and more. And it's less than four hours driving distance from our home--which makes it doable!.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
More than anything else, we love the relaxed, unpretentious, genuinely friendly ambiance of these lakes and Birchwood. We truly relax when we're there! A Birchwood treasure is the great little grocery store with a wonderful deli and homemade breads. Our property itself is also a treasure--private, secluded, wooded which guarantees our visits there are always true "escapes" from our overly- busy world.
