Fabulous Location & Comfortable Accomodations

Guest: Amy (Washington, DC)
Date of Stay: 03/30/12 Review Submitted: 04/25/12

We really enjoyed our stay here. We found it was very easy to find transportation throughout San Francisco and this place was very convenient to walk to many restaurants and bus stops to get wherever we needed to go. Although parking in front says it is for Permit passes beyond 2 hours, my brother was able to park there without any problems Friday - Wednesday. We were able to sleep 5 comfortably on the bed, futon, and couch. There were plenty of towels, sheets, & blankets and the kitchen table was great for us to play card games and board games. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and pans for us to make meals when we had leftovers or didn't want to go out for a meal. The place was very clean and well-maintaned. The owner was very helpful in answering our questions about parking and there are a lot of brochures available to help us find activities nearby. My family had a wonderful stay and this place made our first experience with VRBO a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to see the sights of San Francisco. It's within walking distance to the Golden Gate Bridge, Ghiradelli Square, movie theatres, sports gym, and lots of restaurants and shops. Only a short bus ride to the cable cars. So much to see in San Francisco, but I would recommend getting the book, "Top 25 Things to See & Do in San Francisco". There are so many things to do, that I can't just recommend a few here. We had a blast exploring the city!!! Note: If you live in a city, you will love this place. If you are a country dweller, you may want to bring ear plugs to drown out the street traffic at night. It's not that bad, but may bother you if you aren't used to it.

Great Value and Location

This little rental looks rather humble compared to some of the showier housing in nearby blocks, but indoors it is quite spacious and has all the amenities you need. It could probably benefit from a fresh coat of paint in the hallway/bathroom etc. But it was clean and adequate for the price. A huge plus to have laundry, kitchen, free parking, and safe neighborhood at prices less than the basic rate hotels we were looking at. My one suggestion to the owner is to possibly have a little more info about the neighborhood and have MUNI transit line maps available in the unit. We only stayed here for 2 nights and by the time we realized what a cool neighborhood we were in it was time to leave. I will say the locals here were extremely friendly and helpful. We struck up many conversations on the bus and at the local parks (there is a fantastic park/playground area right next to the Marina Branch Library) and restaurants with very genuine and charming folks. We booked very last-minute (less than a week out from our check-in). So I can't really attest to what other rentals are available in the area that I compared this to in my shopping. For a last-minute reservation though I really have no complaints. Well, except for whomever lives upstairs from the bedroom and spends an hour getting ready for the day at 7am while tromping around in high heels. LOL But you can't really control the neighbors and with a 2 year old in our midst we don't often sleep past 7am anyways.

A Great Apt in a Great Location (Visit: 6/8/11 - 6/13/11)

Guest: Cherrelle (New York City)
Date of Stay: 06/08/11 Review Submitted: 06/25/11

This apartment was a perfect fit for me and my 3 friends for our visit to San Francisco. Very clean, definitely more space than a hotel room and the owners did a great job in leaving some supplies, i.e. towels, cleaning equipment. The kitchen was also well supplied but we ate out every night so this was never used. We had no issues with the appliances or any noise from the neighbors above us. As for street traffic, you can hear a couple vehicles pass through the night but they never disturbed anyone's rest at night. (We're from NYC, so the little sounds we did hear is still considered to be fairly quiet) As for location, the apt was near everything we needed: grocery, Walgreens, shops and so many restaurants. We weren't far from A16 restaurant, where we had excellent individual pizza pies. If you don't rent a car, prepare to wait 5-10 mins to catch a taxi but when you do, the ride is never that long. Our most expensive ride was to the airport and to Union Square, otherwise we did not spend more than $15 on a ride. This was easy to split among 4 people. I will stress that since we were visiting, the apt was mostly used to relax and sleep, so it certainly fit our needs and definitely works for friends who will be up and about for most of their stay. The neighborhood was safe and the home was very comfortable. This apt made our trip to SF successful and we would definitely rent here again in the future. Thanks so much! =)

Great Location,

My family and I stayed at this flat for my brother's wedding. I had my wife as well as my twin 2 1/2 year olds along and the apartment was a perfect fit. The Owner was good to work with and gave good directions for getting into and closing up the apartment. The place was clean upon arrival. It did take a quick sweep through the place to toddler-proof it as they have decorative vases and other breakables on coffee tables/end tables/etc. This should be a non-issue for anyone who doesn't have small children to worry about. The entry to the apartment also had a lockable gate, which was nice to store the stroller outside instead of inside the apartment. The bed in the main bedroom was very nice and comfortable. The other sleeping arrangements included a futon (double bed) and hide-a-bed (double bed). The place also had a pack and play but we did not use this. The apartment was a short walk to the wedding site at the Palace of Fine Arts and also to the reception site on Chestnut. Grocery stores, bars, and restaurants are all within a short walking distance. The place is also super close to the Presidio (1 block away). I did find that hailing a cab (from the street) to get a ride to other locations was a bit difficult. We ended up having to call for pickups and this worked out well. Not a big deal though. Some other reviews indicated that the upstairs neighbors were loud but we did not find this to be the case. The place did have a policy of quiet hours after 10 p.m and this wasn't an issue for us though. If you want a place to party all night long, this location probably isn't a good fit. It was perfect for our family. Also, other reviews indicated that the street traffic was too loud. Again, we didn't find this to be a problem. The noise level in the back in the bedroom was almost nothing. The doors and windows kept the noise out very well but it may be more noticeable if the windows were kept open during the night. All in all, I would (and probably will) stay here again

A Perfect Weekend

Guest: Get Head in the Game. Support Brain Tumor Research (Sacramento)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/10/11

My husband and our two kids rented this property and had a wonderful weekend in SF. Our main reason for our stay was to participate in a walk in Golden Gate Park benefitting the National Brain Tumor Society. Public transportation to the park was a breeze from the rental. The property was very much as I expected after reading the owner's description and previous reviews. There are many restaurants and shopping nearby, easily within walking distance. On Friday evening we had a scrumptious Italian dinner at E'Angelo Trattoria. Best calamari I've ever had and my friend raved about the trout. Sunday morning we enjoyed areally delicious breakfast at the Baker Street Bistro about one and a half blocks away. Just around the corner near the Presidio gates was a little deli market that makes really yummy sandwiches. Perfect for a picnic at the Palace of Fine Arts. My only suggestion would be to upgrade to a wireless Internet connection. That would have been really handy as an iPad user. As some reviews mentioned, I didn't find the street noise to be an issue as that is to expected in the city, but the upper door neighbor is a heavy walker and with shoes on it's quite loud. You could see where some insulation or sound proofing was done in the ceiling, but we could still hear the neighbors. If you are out and about the city as much as we were, then the neighbor noise is really not much of an issue. I disagree slightly with other reviewers about parking. At times, we had difficulty finding a spot to fit our SUV vehicle and had to circle the surrounding neighborhood for parking spots. I would certainly rent this property again and would also recommend it to friends. The owners were very attentive and helpful if we called with questions. The apartment was just the right size for our family of four and the beds were comfortable for everyone. Thanks for a perfect weekend!

Adequate with Issues

Guest: mez (westchester ny)

The previous reviews are correct. Great location and clean. It is an older apartment, a tired look, except the bed which was very comfortable. Kitchen is well supplied. We were disturbed daily by the upstairs tenants but through no fault of theirs. We heard every step they took on their floors throughout the day and they start their weekdays at 6:30AM. The soundproofing does not seem to address that issue. The owner returned our calls promptly and helped to resolve an issue with the TV but could not do anything about the sound. This is adequate apartment for travelers looking for basic accomodation. We would not rent it again.

Owner response:You are renting in a 3 unit building as described. Therefore, you will have neighbors. The entire flat is soundproofed and double pane windows are installed throughout the flat as well. Please keep in mind that you are right in the heart of the city and the flat is at a very convenient ( bus stop is just a block away) and one of the safest neighborhoods in SF.

I had such a great stay here! There was always parking right out in front just steps from the door. It was super cozy and a very clean rental. Place heats up really quick and is located in a very convenient spot in the Marina. Area felt very safe and I will for sure rent here again.

Noise, noise, noise

My family of 4 stayed for 3 nights. When I had inquired about the location of the unit, owner would not disclose address until I paid in full for unit. Well, now I know why. It is on the busiest, loudest road in SF. Forget about opening the window due to the constant noise of cars, trucks and busses. The place was clean but by no means even a 3 star. There was a musty smell, felt damp, microwave did not work. Internet kept going out. I would not recommend this unit.

Owner response:we never disclose the exact address for unconfirmed guests for security reasons. However, this guest was given the address after she was confirmed. If we were informed of any non working appliances during their stay, we'd be able to fix the problem immediately. However, she never contacted us. As for the cleanliness, our cleaners are professional cleaners and very thorough. This is SF and the flat is in a very convenient and walkable location with easy public transportation access. The flat is fully soundproofed and installed with double pane windows. I don't think we can do anything else to make this guest happy. The internet problem was never an issue. If so, Comcast controls the connection and we'd be happy to make the calls to Comcast if we were informed of the connection problem.

This is a wonderful apartment for a San Francisco visit. It was so convenient to be able to park my car every evening right in front of the apartment. The location is excellent for driving to all the great tourist spots in the city. The bay is within close walking distance, as well as many nice restaurants and shops. Thank you, John
