This third floor apartment is a bright, elegant, fully renovated and fully equipped, one bedroom, one bath apartment with all the charms and warmth of old Aix-en-Provence living. Bathed in yellow and ochre, with traditional red 'tomettes' tiles on the floor, the apartment features all the comforts and warmth of a Provençal home with excellent amenities.

Upon entering the apartment, on the left, you will see the kitchen, with yellow and red Provencal tiles, and which includes a washer, dryer, microwave, coffee maker, new Cuisinart Cookware and of course oven and cook top stove. In front of the kitchen is a bar, with wrought iron stools, which provides an excellent area to have your morning croissants and plan the day.

At the far end of the salon, is a dining area that seats four and from which you can look out at elegant turn-of-the-century buildings across the street.

The bathroom is fully renovated, and features a shower area, halogen lighting, shelving and hairdryer.

After passing the salon area, you enter the bedroom, which features a queen sized wrought iron bed, with new American mattress and box springs, down filled comforters and American quality all-cotton linens and mattress pad. In the past, I have rented several vacation properties in several different countries. This location and experience was the best I've ever had. Holly was so helpful and patient and was great to deal with. Among several other things, she worked very hard with me for some time to ensure that I was able to 'sort out' my dates. Holly's place which is so tastefully decorated in French provencial colors. It is charming, light, and spacious. The apartment is clean and well maintained and has all the amenities necessary to make your stay a great one. Holly maintains a high standard in her furnishings, kitchen supplies, etc. and includes many extra touches which are not required but very much appreciated(ie-wine and flowers upon arrival). The apartment which is in an ideal location is close to the farmers' markets, shops, cultural sights, restaurants, beautiful fountains, Cours Mirabeau, Tourism Information, buses, etc. etc. etc. The house manager, Poala is also very accessible and responds quickly to any questions/requests.

Owner response: Brenda - this is such an amazing review, I simply don't know what to say. I can only hope that everyone who stays here feels the same way! I know that you have had the good fortune to stay for a wonderful bit of time this year, but if you ever plan to come back to Aix-en-Provence, well, please come back 'home'.

Our stay at Aix Mirabeau was a wonderful experience-the apartment was beautifully decorated, well equipped, clean and has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a centrally located area of Aix. Aix is a great home base to explore many other towns in Provence, whether you drive or take one of the many days trips available from the Tourist Center, just blocks away. We can't say enough nice things about the owner - she immediately responded to our inquiry about the apartment and pretty much assisted us through our entire trip - whether it was a question about how to best get there, to what side trips to take. It is very comforting to have a local guide you. We would highly recommend this apartment if your travel plans take you to Aix.

I have rented many a vacation property over the years, both in Europe and in the USA. Holly is without doubt the best owner I’ve ever dealt with. It is so reassuring when an owner of a property so promptly responds to an e-mail and is so pleasant and helpful. Holly was in New York, so we did not meet her personally. Her local property manager, Paola, is also quite pleasant, accessible, and helpful. The apartment is in a superb location, it is very comfortable, and well-appointed. It is amazingly quiet, despite its central location. Aix has a clever system of street barriers, so it is not easy to drive a car to the apartment. However, the parking garage (Rotunde) is about a 10 minute walk away and is huge. So, it is not difficult to find a parking spot. It costs about 13 Euros per 24 hours to park a car there. There are lots of wonderful restaurants just minutes away (Le Formal, in particular) and the Monoprix is equally close. You will enjoy your stay here.

Owner response: Dear Elliott, I'm so flattered by this wonderful review and so sorry that I was out of town when you were in Aix. I will take you up on your threat to return however so we can finally meet!! Thank you!

We are a couple who loved this place. The apartment is charming...and yes, that means it is not large. It is perfect for two people, and only two people. You are in the very centre of the old city and every one of its sites. More important, you are about a short walk from the stop for the airport bus...so no car required. You can fly to the Marseille Airport, take a half-hour bus ride to Aix (stop right at the airport), then walk 15 minutes and you are home. The bed is comfy and the kitchen complete.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind review! You are right, the apartment is perfect for a couple's getaway in the center of this charming European town. I hope to see you both again!

The photos are reflective of the accommodations. We found it to be clean, well maintained and centrally located. Its location enabled us to explore the city on foot. Car rental was not required. To enjoy adventures outside of the city, the bus and train services were excellent. The owner was always available to answer questions and provide suggestions to make our stay more enjoyable. Pamphlets were available in the apartment to help us plan our outings. The kitchen had everything one would need to create elegant and simple meals. We have already recommended this location to several friends and know that they will not be disappointed during their visit.

After much dithering, my husband and I chose Aix Mirabeau for our home base during our week in Provence at the end of June. We were so glad we did. We were able to park our car in an underground garage nearby and walk to almost everything we wanted to do in town. We loved having the Monoprix, a couple of bakeries nearby and a well-equipped kitchen in the apartment so we could eat breakfast and sometimes lunch at home and feel like we lived there. We found many good restaurants for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the market the Tuesday before we left. If I'd had more room in my suitcase, we might have enjoyed it a little too much! I loved being able to look out the windows down at the street action below. My favorite sights were the musician we enjoyed one morning and then tipped as we left around noon and the tour group checking out the Occitane store just below us. Holly was the perfect hostess with charm, information and helpful hints for our stay. I highly recommend this vacation rental for anyone needing a homebase in the area.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Owner response: Why thank you! And of course you were both there for some wild events - like the Fete de la Musique, and the International Music Festival, to keep you feeling in the middle of it all. Please do come back!

Spending a week at Aix Mirabeau in early May was all my husband and I had hoped for and more! The apartment was the perfect location from which to take day trips to the beautiful provencal countyside and the ideal location to enjoy the restaurants, shops, and energy of the city. It was well appointed with more than the necessities and eventhough it is wonderfully situated in the heart of the city, when the French windows are closed, the city sounds disappear. The owner of the apartment is lovely and very helpful. We highly recommend Aix Mirabeau to you!

It is a great pleasure for me to welcome guests to my apartment and to share all that I can about this fantastic town. I certainly hope you are able to return to Aix Mirabeau one day soon.

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: I've welcomed visitors to France since 2001. Though a native New Yorker, I think I must have been French in another life, and have since very happily relocated to Provence in 2007, dividing my time between the apartments (see also VRBO #394861) in Aix en Provence and the house in the Luberon (VRBO #57385) This place is truly everything the guidebooks say it is - Paradise on Earth. As the French saying goes, 'On vie bien en Provence!' [we live well here] and so I hope to welcome you to this magical part of the world.

Why the Owner Chose Aix en Provence:
Perhaps only someone who has never visited Aix-en-Provence might ask the question 'why settle here?'. A friend once commented - 'you no longer take vacations since it seems staying in Provence is enough of one for you'. Please do come and experience the area for youself. You will understand.......

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The apartment is romantic, cheerful, comfortable and the location is excellent - if you wish to visit all of Provence, or just spend your time wandering the beautiful city of Aix. Please come and visit, and make this apartment your home in the South of France.
