North Erradale (Near Gairloch) - Ross-Shire

This traditional croft house is situated in a scenic and peaceful location in the crofting community of North Erradale, 6 miles along the coast from the charming little port of Gairloch. A wide range of walks can be enjoyed, from strolling along the beautiful beaches, forest walks and nature trails to the more demanding mountains of Torridon. River, loch fishing and sea angling are all available and permits, where necessary, can be obtained in Gairloch which offers a range of shops, restaurants, pubs and leisure facilities as well as a popular golf course and lively pier. The age of the cottage is uncertain but records in the Heritage Museum show the cottage was rented in 1841 for an annual rent of £8 ! In days gone by, before the road was built, the cottage was the first property the traveller and pack horse met coming over the hill from Big Sand. The original track can still be walked today. The cottage is set into the hillside and enjoys a lovely view over a quiet fertile valley and a side view to the Minch. Fully modernised, the comfortable interior is traditional and homely and the cosy lounge features an open fire and the original wood panelling. There is interior access to the rear conservatory which catches the sun early in the day to well on in the evening and from here guests can enjoy fabulous sunsets. The upstairs rooms have coombed ceilings and are accessed by a steep stair. A small private lawned garden has a picnic bench and table. 1 double and 1 twin bedroom, lounge, dining room, kitchen, bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. All electric plus open fire. Fridge/freezer, small dishwasher, microwave, television. Auto washing machine and tumble dryer in outbuilding. Bed linen and towels can be hired on request.
