One of the Cabin At The Mill owners trying to make your reservations come true.
Why the Owner Chose Huntly
The Cabin At The Mill was actually built as a guesthouse for visiting family across the US and Europe/Australia. With that in mind, you can imagine the upscale interior and upgrades installed in the cabin for the confort and convenience of our own clan. It was meant to be special and we are constantly told this by our clients. There is so much to do in the area that we have return clients yearly and they now book their next visits before leaving the property. Our clients are outstanding and know value.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Close to historic area, winery's throughout the county, fishing, Skyline Drive, Horse Back Riding or just plain reading a book by the stream. It is a different world here and so worth the trip.

Our four night stay at the Cabin At The Mill was more than expected. The serene surroundings were the perfect setting for an early morning start to our busy days. During the day, we were in and out and the location was perfect for visiting wineries, running various errands for our daughter's wedding, and exploring new interesting night life. The cabin had everything we needed, and enough space to serve our family. We had plenty of linens, towels, kitchen gadgets, and reading material to make all of us feel right at home. We found ourselves too busy to do the things we planned at the cabin, but we did wonder up and down the babbling stream, and relax in the hammock. I wish we had the time for a fire in the chiminea during the cool evenings. Bonny visited us when we arrived and made the stay extremely wonderful. Flying in from Texas, Bonny made it possible for us to ship ahead a package that was waiting for us in the cabin when we arrived. She and Jim are the best and we wish we had the time to just sit down and visit with them. Thanks for the opportunity to stay at you precious cabin. It reminded us of our log cabin up in the mountains of Pennsylvania. I look forward to another visit to Virginia and we will make sure that we stay at the Cabin At The Mill.
Owner response:Always very nice to see that our efforts at customer satisfaction are appreciated. We want to make your CABIN AT THE MILL experience the best possible, at the fairest price; moreover, we look forward each and every time to the opportunity for meeting new friends. As a destination experience, we welcome those with "special occasion" needs, or simply the need to get away for awhile at a special magical place.

The place is a real, wooden cabin and quite charming inside. Our stay was generally very pleasant, and the surrounding area is pretty and peaceful. A few quirks that we hope the cabin owner will correct for future guests: (1) Aside from the bathroom there were no curtains on any of the windows which we found quite odd. (2) The cabin permits pets, which is nice. However, we noticed that the carpets had pet hair on them that should have been vacuumed prior to our arrival.

My fiance and myself stayed at this very charming cabin in November 2011. The pictures do not give it justice!! This cabin would be perfect for a small family, couple, or group of friends. It had a queen size bed in one room with beautiful views of the foliage. The other room had built in bunk beds. There is a living room in the main area with two couches and a cafe table. Just above the bedrooms is the most adorable loft with tons of books and movies to keep you entertained. The kitchen was perfect to make small meals, lunch and/or breakfast. There is a tri-level deck area with a grill, outdoor fireplace, and a table with six chairs. There is also a swing and hammock, which we enjoyed very much while watching the sun set. The grounds are just beautiful with a stream that runs through the entire property. Our puppy loved the space to run around in and happily splashed through the stream every chance she got. The owners were also wonderful and very accommodating. The cabin is very close to the award winning restaurant at The Inn at Little Washington. We have already made plans to rent the cabin again very soon!!!
Owner response:What a great couple these two lovely people made. I think it would be outstanding if they would consider having their wedding out here because we would love to have them come back soon. Bonny Paulson, Owner

My husband, two children (ages 8 & 11) as well as our two dogs (one old mutt, one Bugg pup) had the pleasure of relaxing at this beautiful cabin in the woods over the weekend after Thanksgiving. We lucked out and had perfect weather! The setting is peaceful and quiet, except for the sounds of the running brook nearby-which my kids loved playing by and my dogs happily sat in. Perfectly relaxing sounds! The deck off the cabin which you can't see from the photos was my favorite place to hang out; a swing, chimenia, grill, table with chairs, overlooking the woods and brook. Inside the house was warm and extremely comfortable...the beds amazingly supportive! My daughter took over the loft area which was filled with great old movies...oh, and yes there is a TV and DVD player there! :) The kitchen was perfect, everything we needed was there and placed in such thought out areas for safety and space saving! Bonnie and Jim, the owners, greeted us with smiles and helped us plan our weekend visit-even made some calls for us to inquire about availability. We went horseback riding at a local farm, Royal Horseshoe Farm, and ate locally-Cafe Indigo! We had a wonderful experience in the woods! If you walk from the cabin, up the driveway, and turn right at the street, you end up walking near a gorgeous state protected farm "reserve" surrounded by mountains. If you need a weekend away with your kids and want to bring your dogs (there is a dog run too for your dogs in case you want to let them run free!), this is THE PLACE to go! We loved it and would return. Bonnie and Jim-thank you so much for your hospitality and for such an amazing weekend! You sure know how to live! What a wonderful place you have!!!
Owner response:We are completely convinced that our CabinAtTheMill is magic because it only appeals to the very best people on this planet. This family was the American dream with a boy, a girl, an old dog and a young dog, and a Mom & Dad who love life. Please send me more of these kinds of people. Thank you and hope you come back soon. The cabin was charming and the surroundings beautifully rustic. A great quiet get away with no TV or internet. The owners said they will be equiping the cabin with Wifi. Lights to read by at night anywhere in the cabin were limited. There is no oven in the small kitchen which was no problem for us. Dining out is to be expected. The cabin was clean and the owners more than pleasant. The sound of the mountain stream nearby was delightful. Best for a couple or a family with up to two small chidren. The second bedroom bunk bed is short. There are wineries all around and the Wasmund Single Malt Whiskey distillery tour in Sperryville was interesting and highly recommended. A good example of an entrepeneur with an Idea and the creation of a small business. The owner provides an informative and entertaining tour.
Owner response:David you are absolutely right, we do not advertise having an oven or TV or Internet.

My husband, two year old daughter, our two dogs, and myself stayed this past weekend at CabinAtTheMill. It was a wonderful weekend. The cabin is so centrally located to hiking, wineries, Sperryville, and Washington that there was lots to do. It was very homey and comfortable. We left feeling refreshed and hope to return in the spring.
Owner response:I believe we have a very special and unique property and I love active people coming out and discovering us, like Jenna and her young family. We definitely look forward to their return for many years to come. Thank You. Bonny Paulson, Owner

My husband and I (and our puppy) were looking for a quiet getaway from the noise of DC, and Cabin at the Mill proved to be heaven on earth for us. Jim and Bonny were very welcoming, and the cabin is adorable and well-kept/stocked, the property is lovely, and quite honestly everything about it was perfect. We had a wonderful time just relaxing, making smores over the fire, checking out local wineries, and enjoying Skyline Drive. We left feeling rested and with a list of things to do the next time we come out - and there most DEFINITELY will be a next time. Many, many thanks to the Paulsons!
Owner response:We are so pleased that Amanda and Jason caught the magic that is CabinAtTheMill. Very nice, pleasant people and we welcome them back, the sooner, the better. Bonny Paulson, Owner

Bonny & Jim - Thank you so much for affording me the opportunity to stay in such a lovely cabin, to experience the beautiful area of Virginia, and for your hospitality!
Owner response:We love our 11 acre environment, with all the wildlife and natural things here to share, and we truly look forward to our guests who visit and spend time, that love life and want to be a part of Mother Natures own handy work. Dori was certainly and definitely one of those special people with a zest for life and beauty. She and her little boy pug, Oliver, came up alone and left being our friends. We most certainly look forward to Dori and Oliver coming back, to the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the very near future and relax from the Washington DC intensity. We love neat people like Dori. See You Soon! We'll leave a light on for you. Bonny Paulson, Owner 540-635-1407

My husband and I just got back from our weekend at the Cabin at the Mill. What a lovely place! If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it. We couldn't believe how quiet it was out there. So much to do or so little to do, it's up to you. The cabin was clean and comfie. We spent one day out and about, exploring the area and then spent the next day in, just being lazy. We went out to Griffin Tavern to eat one night; definitely recommend it. We also drove out to see Montpelier, the home of James and Dolly Madison. That was a good day trip. We stopped along the way at a few roadside stands and even bought a beautiful quilt while there. The cabin was recommended to me by a friend who visits the cabin often and I will certainly be recommending it to my friends as well. We hope to return in the late Spring or early summer.
