I visited Los Bohios while it was under construction and thought it was an amazing place. Everything was confirmed following our stay. The grounds are magnificent and made for an ideal getaway with the family. There are issues with internet connectivity which should be addressed and I believe there should be satellite TV available.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

If vacationing on a laid back island with beautiful beaches appeals to you, consider staying at Los Bohios. Our family has been coming back to Los Bohios for many years because we love it. The setting on a hillside affords views of the village of Esperanza and the sea beyond. The outside area around the pool is a great place to watch the sun rise and set. The heated pool and jacuzzi offer relaxation and just enough exercise! The three separate bohios provide privacy which is quite special in a vacation rental. The inside and outside seating options are plentiful. The kitchen is well provisioned, but the location makes the excellent local restaurants accessible as well. Chairs, towels and coolers lend to wonderful trips to the many beaches. Do consider staying at Los Bohios . . .just not when we want to!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I highly recommend this property. Where to begin? From the minute Colleen met us and took us to the property, we were impressed and amazed. Colleen cares meticulously for Daly's property, and provides maps and great info upon arrival. First impression: "WOW!" The view from the main bohio is breathtaking. You see a lovely pool, and a huge green space with views of the Caribbean. Photos can't do that justice. The pool was pristine and refreshing. The pool deck had tons of chairs/lounges and tables. Everything we needed was there - towels, utensils, blenders, pots/pans, spices. The furniture was clean and comfortable, sound system was very nice, and the hot tub was a welcome surprise. I had pretty high expectations for Los Bohios going in, and they were far exceeded. We had 4 adults in one bohio and 2 in the other, and it was very private for each couple. You can certainly take a group trip, and still feel like you have privacy. Something to keep in mind: since there is not air conditioning, we kept the doors open all day to let in the breeze and see the beautiful scenery. This meant that bugs could also come in if the doors were left open at night. However, we just closed the doors at night: there are screens on the "windows" if you are concerned about still getting the breeze. Not a problem at all. I don't like getting hot at night, so I actually bought a fan at WalMart on the mainland and brought it with me. There are fans overhead, but the extra fan was VERY welcomed in the middle of the night -- especially if there was a rain storm and we needed to shut some window slats. We flew to Vieques from Ceiba on VAL, and rented a one-way rental from AVIS. This is THE CHEAPEST option you will find (aside from the LONG ferry ride). I highly recommend it. When we landed, Colleen was there waiting for us in her pickup truck. Couldn't have been more smooth. We also rented from Chepito. He had the rental car in the parking lot with keys at Vieques airport. Super nice guy, couldn't have been easier to work with. Hh's worth the effort to reach him. In closing, I think it's tough to choose a property in Vieques because you never know what you might get, but this property lives up to and exceeds the photos you see here and on the website. It is well worth the expense, and you will love being in your own private paradiseRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you so much for your wonderful bohios. I told you that I found the website very beautiful, but I was afraid that after looking at that for so long we would be disappointed by the reality. We were not disappointed! It was so exactly as advertised but better, of course, as we were there and warm and sitting in the pool with pina coladas. I loved Vieques when I was there for just a few days last year, but now I an hooked. It is so much like the Caribbean as I found it 30 years ago when I first began running from the cold. I will be back as often as possible and Los Bohios feels like a place to come back to. I want to see how your citrus trees are coming along and spend whole days watching the cattle egrets. Thanks for making such a comfortable place for us. It will be -25 degrees here tonight (yes that is 25 below zero fahrenheit), and I have your website on my computer screen--it makes me warm.Did you find this review helpful? We just loved everything about our visit. The island is fabulous, the restaurants were great, and Los Bohios is just paradise. My husband and I can't stop talking about our stay there. Thank you very much. I will definately keep in contact. We would love to rent Los Bohios again. "So, I have to tell you about this dream I had last night... ...I dreamt I spent a week in an amazing house on a Caribbean island... ...I ate, I drank, I soaked up sun, I splashed in the pool... ...as night approached, I saw the most beautiful and colorful sunset... ...then the sky opened up to billions of stars... ...I cooked in the most fabulous kitchen... ...I admired a most gracious home, with every detail carefully thought out to provide it's guests with the most perfect of comforts for all the senses... ...then, I fell fast asleep, relaxing like never before... ...awakened by a morning rain, the cloud quickly retreated and presented a rainbow to welcome the rising sun... ...a New Day... ...and I did it all again!!! Did I die and go to heaven??? ...NO! I realize I wasn't dreaming... I just spent a week at Los Bohios!" ED and Daly, thank you so much! I was so burned out and now my batteries are fully charged like never before! In the brief times I've spent in you home, as you know, I've always admired it. But to actually live there for a week! Wow! I felt like royalty! Kudos to you, whomever designed (I know Stanley played a roll), and the team that built it. While I know it was many dollars and too much time to get it all accomplished, know that you have succeeded tremendously! Every detail seems to be in place. It's marvelous the way it all transforms from the daylight into a different treasure at night. The lighting is perfect. Ed, I enjoyed browsing the book you left for me... and even more so, the martini shaker on the counter! Truly, truly I felt like I left Vieques for a week! You have succeeded in providing the most amazing retreat!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The perfect getaway! Los Bohios is a real gem. Spectacular view of the water and hillside. The lush landscaping is gorgeous. Living area and pool conducive to large groups. Particularly favored sunrise from west master bedroom and afternoon outdoor shower overlooking cattle grazing, ocean waves and sun and wind melting away cares.... Great reading material, and the Cuban and Brazilian CD's... You have impeccable taste down to the details and quality of linens... I will miss the starry nights." S.I. From cold Sweden, (we) spent a week doing not much: actually we don't like the thought of leaving. We have relaxed, are refreshed and perhaps somewhat restored. We have tried to imagine your plans and designs from this hacienda, but came up with nothing but the fact that compromise does not seem to be in your vocabulary. We would like to return two weeks next year." O.+K.+K.(9)+B.(7) December '02Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Today is our last day and we have had a wonderful time. Of course, we are sorry to go. We must turn in our swimsuits and flip-flops for winter coats and boots. Augh! "We have had a wonderful stay. You did a great job on this place. The view from the bohios with all of the doors open is ideal. We love watching the horses and cows. It is so tranquil. We are looking forward to returning when your fruit trees are matured. Fresh fruit ... will really top it off. The beach chairs ... and all the amenities are First Class." L.M. March '02 We've enjoyed each of the beaches here. My favorite is Green Beach because of the snorkeling. We'll miss you Vieques." March '03 Enjoying the spectacular view and the feel of the place ... especially...the kitchen with great cookware... You have really done a thoughtful and well designed place." K. March '03 "We have all arrived safely and soundly and already our cares and worries are beginning to melt away in the hot sun. (Your) house is spectacular and we are honored to be your first guests."
