PLEASE READ "Travelors Reviews' on the link above as that will give you a good idea of what other guests have felt about both houses and their visit in general. They say far more than I ever could!

Experience luxury, privacy, and one of the most beautiful gardens in San Miguel. Both the casita and the main house are within a walled and secure complex and there is a good deal of separation between the two homes.

In my ‘humble’ opinion, which is shared by those who have crossed its threshold, I think this is one of the loveliest properties in San Miguel. I am including many photographs which will speak of its charm much more than I could say in words. However, let me mention some of the basics.

First off, there is high speed wireless internet. Most of my guests have downloaded skype and can sit outside under the shade of the outside sala/living room while listening to the fountain, catching up on emails and having chats with friends at home.

Both places have cable television and there are many movies with Spanish sub-titles (a great way to practice Spanish!) and there are American news stations, Discovery, etc. Plus the Main house has a DVD and C.D. player with many C.D's and some DVD's.

From both homes one enjoys the antique cantara stone fountain, lush lawn, flowering garden and vine covered high walls which surround the property. Each has its own front porch which face the lovely and most comfortable outdoor sala.

The main house is a truly a “home” with many exceptional features …. mainly it has sophistication and charm, but is also warm and cozy due to the unique bamboo and wood beam ceilings, warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors.

The first floor is an open floor plan with a lipstick red kitchen which looks out onto the garden and the casita in the distance. There is a dining room/living room combination and a half bath. Naturally, the fireplace is the focal point especially on nippy evenings.

Upstairs there is a very large master bedroom with fireplace and again the high ceilings with the bamboo and wood beams which make it cozy as well as elegant. The custom-made queen size bed with its delicious pillow-top mattress guarantees a good night’s sleep. The bathroom is one of the nicest in San Miguel due to its size and the fact that there is a lot of light including a window looking out on the garden. It includes both a shower and bath.

There is also an office just off the bedroom dressing room. It has a bed that would sleep one. Going outside from the office there is a washer/dryer. From that point, there are stairs leading to the crow’s nest terrace with a spectacular view of the Paroquia, city and surrounding countryside.

The casita is charming! It is an open floor plan which echoes the main house in design and décor. Warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors coupled with a most comfortable queen-size bed with the pillow-top mattress, mini-kitchen, a beautifully tiled bath with shower, living area, dining nook, and a lovely view of the fountain and garden.

The outdoor living room (sala) has a dining area, and comfortable cushioned sofa and table and chairs. This is the perfect place for using your lap-top or simply reading while listening to the fountain. A charcoal barbecue makes it the ideal spot for entertaining and eating outdoors. Above the sala is a very large roof-top garden with a large table with umbrella for morning coffee or watching the sun set in the evenings.

The wonderful housekeeper and gardener live right across the street and keep an eagle's eye on the property. She cleans once a week and deals with water, trash and oversees all other details. For a small, additional fee she would do your personal laundry when you wish. Her husband is a talented gardener who treats the garden as his own. Their weekly work hours are included in the rent, but if you wished to have them for more time, I could help you make arrangements with them.

There is off the street parking for one large vehicle behind the walls for you or for your friends and additional space in front of the house.

It is a 10-15 minute down hill walk to the center of town. Most of my guests have enjoyed the aerobic exercise coming home! However, it’s easy to catch a $2.00 taxi for a 5 minute ride back.

Please there is no smoking inside either home.

It's a lush, fragrant year round retreat.

Private & Enchanting

Guest: Stephen & Peter (New York City)
Date of Stay: 02/02/10 Review Submitted: 02/13/11

We spent some extended time in this casita during the month of February. It was our lovely, private home away from home. Convenient to the Centro and with a spectacular view from the roof garden a delight in San Miguel. With a little grocery a few steps down the hill we were able to have the comforts of home and be in easy reach of all that the city has to offer. The garden and seating area on the terrace made a wonderful spot for an afternoon glass of wine or cup of tea. It was also private and quiet during the night. Sabrina O’Jack is a gracious host, and the main house, with enchanting fireplace, luxurious master bedroom and bath would make a stay here pure magic. A lovely place to stay.

This property is exactly as described - gorgeous, carefully maintained, with every comfort. You could not possibly find a more helpful, accommodating, honorable person to rent from than the kind and charming owner, who goes way out of her way to see that all is well for her tenants, truly treating them as she'd like to be treated herself. This is a rare find!

Excellent Experience!

Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 02/06/11

Stunning is indeed the description of the house, garden and casita! My husband and I stayed in the casita for a month and enjoyed it immensely. The outdoor sala (living room), rooftop terrace and the gardens are perfect compliments to the lovely and charming casita. We loved to sit in the sala, listen to the gentle splashing of the fountain and watch the butterflies sip the nectar of the flowers. The interiors of the house and casita are just as lovely as described. The queen-size pillow topped bed ensures a wonderful sleep. No details of comfort are overlooked. Enough can’t be said about the hospitality of the owner, the wonderful housekeeper and the gardener. There are so many personal touches that make you feel right at home. The walk down to the Jardin (central plaza) is filled with beautiful views, sights and sounds. The walk was one of the greatest parts of a day. Taxis are inexpensive and plentiful, if needed. They are especially welcomed for the way back up! The owner once mentioned that San Miguel is a magical place. That is so true. The gardens, house and casita are magical as well! We loved it all so much that we are returning for an even longer stay.

In Love.....

Guest: Karen & Donn (Chicago area/USA)
Date of Stay: 12/23/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

I had to wrestle with whether I wanted to write a review, because we'd really like to keep this secret all to ourselves! But, that's not fair to the wonderfully delightful owner of this property, and to all of you, who may be looking for a wonderful, beautiful, comfortable place to stay in one of the most beautiful villages on the face of the earth....AND, at a phenomenal price! I'll be more specific: everything in the above listing description is true. Both the casa and the casita are well-built, beautifully maintained, comfortable, classy, quality....all the comforts of home and then some. The fountained garden is, at the same time, spectacular and zen-like. The outdoor spaces are nicer than anything else we saw throughout the village; the dining area and outside living area is perfect for entertaining, even in the evening, as it is lit by two handsome chandeliers. The view from the deck space above the sala is lovely and a wonderful place to sun and have coffee. What a panoramic view from the casa's 'crows-nest' little deck ! Just show-stoppingly breathtaking! You're guaranteed a good night's sleep on these comfortable, plush pillow-top mattressed beds - perfect after a long day of hiking up and down cobblestone streets. The kitchen in the casa is magnificent; light, bright and well-equipped. In the casita is a very efficient kitchenette and small bistro table for two. Excellen for morning coffee and light breakfast. I did prepare quite a few full meals in this kitchen - it was a little snug, but workable. We found the tv and internet connections fine, and there are also small libraries of books and CD's of music for your enjoyment. We personally loved the location! Yes, it is truly a hike up the steep cobblestone street to the casa & casita, but that's what gives you the phenomenal views and also a sense of neighborhood & a less noise & distraction than in the middle of Centro. The housekeep & gardener are just plain wonderful, helpful, accomodating and very dedicated to keeping the property lovely and the guests comfortable. Our son & I only got to stay for 2 1/2 weeks, but my husband is still there until the end of this month & he's enjoyed staying in the casita for this entire time & has found it a perfect 'home away from home'. The property's owner is a dream! She cared so much about us having the best stay possible; giving us lots of good tips & being readily accessible for any questions. We're truly IN LOVE! Thank you!

I have stayed in the casita several times and have visited the owner in the main house. Both units are wonderfully furnished and pleasant to be in. The casita bed is very comfy with good linens. The owner goes to great lengths to please her guests. The garden is luxuriant and creates a heavenly ambiance. The property is up a hill, but that is great for exercise. I highly recommend either of these rentals.

Lovely stay in Feb 2010

Guest: Sherry (Los Alamos, NM, USA)
Date of Stay: 02/01/10 Review Submitted: 06/23/10

I stayed at this casita in February 2010. It was perfect for one person, would be fine for two as well. The kitchenette is small and could use some more/better storage, but I didn't do much cooking and it sufficed for breakfast. There are so many good restaurants, I didn't do much cooking. The bath is darling, covered in tile with nice towels. The bed was a dream to sleep in, the TV had many channels including American movies with Spanish Subtitles. It was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed the owner's hospitality and the darling maid and her family are part of the scene. The views from the top of the sala are lovely as are the garden and outdoor spaces. It was everything it was billed, no complaints at all. The walk to Centro is downhill and takes about 15 minutes. There are wonderful hidden staircases that make the hike enjoyable. And the Tuesday market, movie theater and large stores are a 20 minute walk east.
