Welcome to our 183-acre working ranch! Panoramic views await you at our elevation of 1,660 feet. Look out over 60 acres of flat pasture to one full mile of calm private river frontage on the Klamath River, a class I-II rafting river. Wildlife viewing from our living room picture window includes deer, bald eagles, nesting great blue herons, osprey, Canada geese, wood ducks and other riparian birds. Wander the river's edge to see otter and foxes.
Are you a fisherman? There are many great fishing spots on the property, including under Walker Bridge, for catching steelhead, salmon (winter and spring runs) and trout. One hundred and twenty acres of private woods (pine, douglas fir, oak, cedar) back up to Forest Service land and have miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Covered parking for your horsetrailer and vehicles.
Serious and leisure cyclists will enjoy riding Walker Road, a quiet country lane with virtually no traffic that borders the Klamath River for nearly 30 miles and runs right through the property. Quigley's General Store is four miles upriver, where you can get great deli sandwiches and fresh baked pies, plus a wide selection of fine beers. Put in your raft or kayak at Quigley's and float down to our pull-out for a leisurely ride filled with awesome wildlife viewing.
Ashland is only 50 minutes away. Watch a play during the Shakespeare festival and take in some fine dining, too. Nearby Mount Ashland Ski Resort offers great downhill and cross country skiing and sledding during the winter. For summer rafting, book a family trip through a local rafting company which puts out of Tree of Heaven Campground twenty minutes upriver.
Amenities are modest yet roomy, and include a large country kitchen/dining room, an extra bedroom (no closet) and double futon in the large family room. A large mud room/utility room keeps dirty shoes out of the house. Two master bedrooms offer queen beds, three rooms have double beds, and the kid's room has four extra-long twin mattresses, making an ideal space for two or three families to enjoy the sights together. Spacious front and back lawns, all fenced, make the perfect pet and child-friendly environment. Three thousand-square-foot garage/shop has two 10-foot bay doors and will accommodate any large trailer, quadrunners, tack, etc.
