There is a concept behind this holiday house: to create a space for holiday makers where people feel comfortable, at home, well looked after. At the same time trying to make the house as environmental friendly as possible, without loosing the confort. The house as been being fixed and changed, according to travelers sugestions, to make it more comfortable, pleasant and realiable. The house is a semidetached house with one spacious living room, bedroom and complete bathroom, kitchen with all the facilities. A fully furnished very charming house with one bedroom with double bed, kitchen fully equipped to prepare all kinds of meals and with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, electric coffee machine and other small appliances. A very comfortable living room with two futons, television set with satellite reception, and dining area with table and chairs. The bathroom is also fully equipped with bath and hair dryer, towels and all the necessary appliances. Cotton bed linen, anti allergenic pillows and towels are provided. On your arrival you will find water and milk in the fridge along with cheese, ham, fresh bread and tea bags and instant coffee in the kitchen cupboards for you. There is a private courtyard for sunbathing or barbecuing and, a sunny front garden with space to have meals or simply relax while watching the sunset over the mountains. This space has got a fence of roses, an outside table and chairs, and it faces the street. This street is very quiet, almost only local people pass by, and it has got a very nice atmosphere of 'neighborhood' with people greeting each other. In the garden you find a lemon tree, hopefully with lemons, and plants like parsley, coriander and thyme. Parking is right outside the front gate, always available. Only 800m from the gate to a medieval town, full of character and considered the pearl of Portuguese little towns.

It's location, right in the middle of turistic area, and in the middle of the country, allows one to travel back and forth to very important places in the same day - Coimbra, Porto, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Ericeira, Mafra, Sintra.

The most important reason to chose this house is the easiest access to all of these towns and activities without having to stay in the middle of the noise, and movement but close enough to get to it either walking - into Óbidos, or by car or bus.
The house is located in a village 600 meters from the town gate of Óbidos a small middle age town situated inside walls, 4 km away from a lagoon several km wide where water birds like wild ducks, crane, herons and other birds can be watched very closely. It is a touristy town in the centre of a region full of touristy attractions: a big lagoon with water sports like Parapente, wind surf, paddling, and with 4 golf resorts and clubs at close distance 16 to 25 km. nearby

Apart from the town there are walking paths all around the area.

About the owner: My name is Fernanda and I am a kindergarten teacher on retirement process.
I was born in Tras-os-Montes, Mirandela area in the northeast of the country, near the spanish border.
I moved to Leiria when I was 9, and when i finished primary school education, went to a boarding school, in Tomar, to continue secondary school, up to the 9th grade.
After a short period in Angola I came to Óbidos, where I've been living, studying and working ever since.
I furthered my education here in the area and only went away for the college education. I worked in several areas of Portugal but settled down here and bought a flat, first in Caldas da Rainha, and then this little house in Óbidos.
I spent most of my working life furthering my education, took 3 postgraduation courses, improved my english (learned at school) by studying with the British Council where i achieved proficiency level.
Because of my language habilities I met and socialized with the british/american comunity living in this area, and met my very dear companion and partner in life, a british citizen from Wales, that lived most of his life traveling the world, working for the british government, and settle down here in Óbidos when he retired
He passed away 6 years ago, but he is still remembered everyday with much love.
I also learned about computers, by taking a specialized course in information and comunication tecnologies, in university, mainly because i am 58 and computers weren't around when I was growing up.
I loved my job as a kindergarten teacher, now my job is to create a space for holiday makers that make a diference.
My aim is to welcome people, provide a special place and ambience for people that stay here.
II don't want just to rent a house! I want to create an ambience of trust, calm, relax, with confort, and where people can feel at home.
Why the Owner Chose Caldas Da Rainha: I purchased this house in 2003 and lived in it until 2011, when I married a neighbour and moved to his house in the same row of houses. We decided to live here, instead of purchasing elsewhere because we are charmed with this little corner, so close to everything we need and yet so quiet and in such beautiful environment.
I used to love my job but got very ill and had to retire earlier.
Now this little busyness is my job.
I intend to make this little house, a very confortable and welcoming space, where people find everything they need to live, relax and enjoy life.
Allthough it is a busyness I am interested in making this little space much more then a busyness. I want it to become the place for holidays where people feel welcome, cared for and confident that everything is done to welcome them.
The Unique Benefits at this House: In here we wake up with the sound of birds singing and you hardly believe you are 500 meters away from big coaches stoping by to let tourists out to visit the town, everyday.
From the porchway of the house where we can seat and enjoy a drink or a meal, while, if anyone passes by, they smile, greet you and move on, because they are neighbours, people who live here in the area.
From the backside varanda there's a lovely view to one of the castle towers and the surrounding hills and garden.
But more than that.
The house has got all the little utensils neede in a house to function, and all the apliances needed.
Everything is thought to make people feel well, The house is constantly changed to respond to guests needs.
There are plenty of houses in this area for rent. This one I intend to be unique, environmental friend, with non alergenic features.
This is ideal for a couple to live. I include a bedsetty advised by my companion's brother who came here, from the UK, to try it and advise me about how to make it more friendly and enjoyable. Thank you Peter, who always loved this house, the decoration and its splendid location. He spent hours on the porch, reading a book, enjoying an afternoon drink watching the sunset.
