This was wonderful place for our girl's getaway! We went to PR for a bit of shopping, hiking, ziplining and eating- this was a fabulous location. Close to everything, but not too loud. The place is well decorated and enjoyable to be in. Felipe was a wonderful host and very helpful. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Winter Get-Away

When my husband and I decided to celebrate our 30th anniversary with a little get-away to a sunny island, we knew that we wouldn't want to come home feeling exhausted and stressed. Located right in the middle of Old San Juan, this apartment provided the perfect location. We loved heading out each morning with only a sketchy plan of what we would do and see that day. Taking in the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of Old San Juan for 6 days was relaxing and enjoyable. We took a cab into San Juan once, and then rented a car to take a couple of day trips. Parking in Old San Juan overnight is very convenient (and rather inexpensive) at the big parking garage down by the piers. Everywhere we went, the locals were friendly and helpful. Thanks Felipe and Damaris! We had a great time.

My husband and I had the most marvelous vacation in Old San Juan, in large part because of this apartment. It’s beautifully decorated, comfortable and situated on a street that lets visitors easily tour all of Old San Juan by foot. We especially liked the way we became part of the city through its accessibility. It truly has the feel of home, the warmth of being part of a neighborhood with the trappings of a luxury hotel. Our only concern prior to renting was that the bedroom, alone, was air-conditioned, and we were traveling in the summer months. But that was not a problem. The elegant ceiling fans keep the entire apartment cool and comfortable and added Caribbean flair. As you can tell, we can’t say enough good things.

Thank you Felipe and Damaris for a simply amazing holiday. The apartment is beautifully decorated, the linens and towels are nice quality, and it is centrally located to everything in San Juan Antigua. The bed is lofted...so be mindful of that if you decide to rent here. It was not a problem for me. I would return here on a moment's notice, and I am planning to return soon! The hosts were most gracious, and willing to answer any question asked, even the most silly ones. They were very accomodating to my needs. The property is well maintained. The photographs posted are accurate depictions of the apartment. The rent is well worth it for such a nice space. Thank you for your hospitality.

Charming Flat in Old San Juan

My wife and I stayed at this property for four nights in March. The flat is charming, well furnished, and convenient to all of the sights in the old city. Good restaurants are just a few minutes walk from the apartment and there is a small supermarket nearby with everything one might need or want for a short stay. The owners are very pleasant to deal with and go out of their way to accomodate their guests. Having stayed at El Convento several times, I can say that this apartment is more comfortable and a much better buy than the hotel.

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights in April 2010 on our way to the British Virgin Islands. The location was over the top, and easy walking distance to everything. It is on an extremely quiet street, and you never heard any of the neighbors. Just perfect!

Felipe, Just wanted to send you this note to tell you how much my wife and I enjoyed staying at the apartment. This is truly what I imagined it to be and my imagination did not deceive me. It was everything we hoped for and more. You certainly have a beautiful place and we certainly were fortunate to experience it. The apartment is just beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. I did not get to use the kitchen since we had so many choices of great food literally walking distance. On my many trips to Puerto Rico I never had the opportunity to stay in OSJ and I am glad I did. So much culture in such a small area that speaks for itself. There is a magnificent aura being in OSJ and I was able to take it all in. I was able to see the city come alive so early in the morning and the transformation in the evening to a happening place. We loved our time at Hostal De Sol! Being immersed in the residential area of old San Juan, the architecture, the restaurants, and especially the hospitality of the people made our vacation a wonderful experience. The apartment was beautiful and clean and we would recommend it for anyone wanting an authentic San Juan vacation. We walked everywhere and rented a car only one day to visit the Yunque rainforest and Luquillo beach.

My wife and I stayed at Felipe's apartment for 7 days. We loved it. The apt itself is very cozy and it's placed in a very convenient area of Old San Juan. Should you want to see the city of OSJ, you're in a prime spot near everything. The pricing is competitive with hotels and Felipe is very helpful with directions, suggestions, etc. Overall, I think this is a great pick over hotels. My only reservation is that the internet connection was very spotty and kept going out on me for 1-2 hours at a time.

We had a wonderful time staying at Calle Sol this past November. The apartment is beautiful, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. It was exactly how we dreamed an apartment in Old San Juan would look. The location was great, easy access to food, grocery store and a perfect starting point to wander around looking at the beautiful buildings and scenery of the town. Felipe was very friendly and hospitable and made us feel very welcome in the apartment. We were sad to leave, but will definitely be back some day! This was one of our best experiences with VRBO - and we use it a lot!

Hostal del Sol was a very very nice, clean, and comfortable place we had the pleasure to stay at in Old San Juan. Felipe was extremely helpful and made our stay memorable! We were a party of 5 adults, and found the accommodations and facilities very charming and yet very modern and self contained. We would definitely like to come back again and when we do, we know where to stay! Just one note to Felipe would be to add a light/lamp fixture in the kitchen sink (under the cabinet above) and the cooking area...that was very minor. Hostal del Sol far exceeded our expectations! My husband and I had a WONDERFUL stay there for our honeymoon. The apartment is awesome! A great location, amentities and safety. Two days was not enough there. The layout and furnishings are top notch and the place itself is large. This was a great start to our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for more. In addition, Felipe is a terrific host and answered all of our questions and more. Why pay the same or more for a hotel when you can have your own place on vacation?

A great place, on a quiet street right in the middle of Old San Juan. You really feel like part of the neighborhood, instead of the insulated feeling you get in a hotel. Just a block from 3 restaurants (El Jibarito has great local food at reasonable prices) and everything in town is in walking distance. The apartment was completely furnished,and equipped with every ammenity. Having the Spanish doors open out onto the street level balconies was wonderful...we stood at the railing watching the world go by in the evenings. Our only caveat is that the stairs to the sleeping loft are quite steep, took a little getting used to! Our stay was enchanting, thank you Felipe!

When us 3 girls arrived at Felipe's apartment, we instantly fell in love. Months before arriving, we kept in touch by e-mail with Felipe and he was more than willing to answer any of our questions about the apartment. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and throughout our trip (April 13-19, 2009) he gave us his contact number in case we needed anything. This was exceptional service and beyond what we expected. You will fall in love with the apartment when you see it. It's within walking distance to everything you need; shops, coin laundry, great restaurants. St. Germain Café & Bistro is just a 2 minute walk down the street, and we recommend this place for breakfast. If you plan to visit Puerto Rico, please don't stay at a hotel; you would be taking away from the REAL experience of being in Puerto Rico by staying at a resort. Dear Felipe and Damaris, We had a fabulous time staying at Hostal del Sol. It is in the perfect location to explore Old San Juan. The building has been renovated according to the original plans and we were impressed with the quality of the work and the fittings. The town itself was a revelation to us with oodles of history to absorb and unbelievably good restaurants to savour. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed a wonderful week. This property was absolutely FABULOUS. I stayed in the apartment for two nights (8/23/08 & 8/24/08). The owners were extremely nice. I feel the pictures do not do it justice. The apartmentis beautiful and located right in Old San Juan. They have all the amenities that you need and it is really clean. I said in the apartment by myself and I felt same and secure in the apartment as well as the neighborhood. I look forward to visiting Puerto Rico again and staying in this apartment. The condo was exactly as pictured on the website. The two things that are most important to me when I rent are that the premises are clean & comfortable, both of which were delivered 100%. Perhaps most enjoyable was having morning coffee out in the courtyard in the centre of the building, planning how our day would be spent. The condo was convenient enough that we could swing back & drop off our purchases before we continued on with the rest of our shopping, sightseeing etc. Many thanks to Damaris & Felipe for sharing their condo & allowing us to feel as though we became a part of Old San Juan for a few days.

We stayed in this beautiful apartment during our honeymoon in PR, and we could not have chosen a better place. We loved the high ceilings, dark wood, our loft bedroom, and the windows that open out into the street. The apartment was spotless and beautifully decorated. We walked everywhere we wanted to go -- the apartment is right in the heart of Old San Juan. Felipe and Damaris were kind and accomodating in every way. We were sorry to leave!

It was a very nice stay at this property, which is very clean and convenient to many local shops. The property was equipped with all the necessasities when we arrived. We loved the apartment layout and its unique furniture. The 19 feet ceiling is definitely a plus. Our kids loved this place too! The location is excellent, very close to many attractions; you can just take a nice walk or hop on the free trolley going around downtown. We rented a car for the whole week, and we ended up not needing it for 3 days. The only issue is that the parking along the street is quite limited, but we were able to find one always, even though sometimes it may take a little while, which is quite common in any downtown area anyway. The experience with the owner is also very pleasant. Felipe had been very helpful from the very beginning by answering our questions in a timely manner. We also greatly appreciate his generous offer of deducting one day rent from the total since we missed our flight and arrived on the next day. We would highly recommend this property to others, because not only it is a great place to stay but also the owners are very considerate nice people.

Lovely old world accomodations with all modern amenities, in the middle of Old San Juan. Charming and comfortalbe apt, mingled with the modern living luxuries, of an upscale hotel. I live in Puerto Rico and decided to vacation locally. What a great choice was made by picking Old San Juan and specifically this apt. at 211 Calle Sol. It was so close to restaurants, monuments, etc. and supersafe. The apt. is so comfortable and homey (it has all the ammenities one could ask for, including DirecTV). It is definitely a steal for the money and I am already planning my next trip to Old San Juan and will definitely be staying at this apartment again. The owners have made it a home away from home with state of the art appliances (as a matter of fact, it's even better than my home). There is a wonderful courtyard and the ambiance of the builing is so chic. Try breakfast at La Bombonera (2 1/2 blocks away) and lunch or dinner at El Jibarito (2 blocks away). Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy Old San Juan. Thank you Felipe and Damaris for making this apt. an option for all families, since it comfortably sleeps 4.

Lucky for us, we had the chance to stay at Hostal del Dol in Old San Juan. It was the first place we looked into and could not find any place nicer for the money. Felipe and Damaris have out done themselves in creating an upscale historical apartment that is situated in a great location that is quite yet just a short walk to all that Old San Juan has to offer. It's situated just blocks from all the shopping and nightlife. If you want to experience Old San Juan with all the modern amminities during your stay, Hostal del Sol is the perfeact place! Great place, centrally located, lots of places to eat within walking distance. Felipe was excellent to deal with and everything was as described. Only negative was a bit noisy in the mornings (traffic noise)but that is to be expectd as it is in the heart of old San Juan. Other than that everything was fantastic. I recommend staying here if you want the wonderfull experience of living in old San Juan.

What a beautiful, centrally located place to stay. Felipe was wonderful, and a gracious host. Well appointed rooms, with all the amenaties you would need and it's located in the heart of Old San Juan. Take a stroll to El Moro, or to De Cathedral de San Juan (tomb of Ponce de Leon)or to the many resturants around the area to enjoy authentic Criolle food. MMMMMMM....Can't wait to go back. Our stay at the apartment was wonderful. We were greated by Felipe's mother and his 6 year old nephew, who threw his arms around me. I have never been greated with such warmth in a hotel. The apartment is as beautiful as the pictures and is convenient to every part of Old San Juan. We walked to the forts, shopping, the pier and more. I am planning my stay for next year.

I LOVED THIS APARTMENT!!! Great location: This apartment was around the corner (walking distance) from major outlet store, great restaurants, casinos, supermarkets, forts and so much culture! Great lodging: The apartment itself was better than the pictures. Everything was brand new with a classic twist. Great owners: Felipe and his wife are very nice. They will help you find tourist points of interest and local necessities (i.e. laundry, etc.). And they are just friendly people. I've just returned from a wonderful stay in beautiful Old Town San Juan, Puerto Rico. This apartment is just as pictured - high ceilings and well appointed. The kitchen and dining area is well furnished and the living room has tall shuttered windows that open overlooking Calle del Sol - perfect for watching the people go by. The bathroom is ample and well appointed with a large tile shower and tub. The only difficult thing is getting luggage up to the loft sleeping area. The apartment owners are very accommodating and everything you need will be right there for you. Calle del Sol is a wonderful street about three blocks up from the main plazas and shopping area; go two more blocks up and you are overlooking the ocean. Nearby is a fine corner restaurant, and many other restaurants are close. A few blocks away are karaoke bars, just a few more and you are at the Cathedral and the old gate to the city which opens onto a beautiful walk along the bay to El Morro or to the beautiful fountain and wide walk back into old town San Juan. A coin laundry is on the corner 1/2 block away. I do recommend this apartment. It's perfect for a family of four.
