The historic turn-of-the-century farmhouse has it’s own private view of Lake Pepin and is nestled in the woods not far from our pottery workshop, and gallery.
The full kitchen gives people the option to do their own cooking and private dining. A vaulted ceiling, comfortable contemporary furnishings and an extensive collection of pottery provide a quiet, artistic and inspiring atmosphere for our guests.
The bedrooms are quiet and comfortably furnished. The downstairs bedroom is equipped with a queen-size bed while the upstairs bedroom has twin trundle beds and a second bath with antique claw foot tub.
Come see towering limestone bluffs created over a million years ago, rising more than 500 feet above the Mississippi river. The birds love it and so will you.

I am fortunate to have friends who are Maiden Rock locals and they were able to steer me towards this very special spot / hidden gem. The cottage is located about a 2 minute drive from the heart of town up on a beautiful hillside overlooking the Mississippi River / Lake Pepin. It is very easy to find as the hosts provide excellent directions and an informative brochure. When I drove up I immediately took a liking to the whole property. The cottage is completely private and sits adjacent to a very cool pottery studio and lovely main house occupied by the owners. The brochure and online photos are really nice but believe me when I tell you that they do not do justice to how lovely the finishes are inside the cottage. I was blown away and delighted when I walked in. It is so luxurious in a non-alienating scandinavian sort of way. All kinds of understated comforting personal touches; beautiful blonde wood floors, a big gorgeous bathtub in a spotlessly clean, spacious bathroom, a really nice kitchen with everything you need without being over the top, very nice common seating area alongside the kitchen, not to mention a HUGE dreamy screened in porch with a lovely table and all sorts of seating. In addition to that you have a big cozy bedroom downstairs and lots more sleeping space upstairs. The cottage also has a nice basement with excellent laundry facilities which came in super handy. Remember that this cottage exists in the context of a landscape that is just mind blowingly beautiful and the owners have developed lovely gardens and deck areas where you can take it all in. On top of the cottage far exceeding my expectations for comfort, the hosts were just incredibly nice, interesting people...I know...go figure!. Mary and Peter were so gracious and welcoming, and at the same time they are very low key and unobtrusive. I just do not think this place can be beat for a Maiden Rock getaway. I will definitely be returning...hopefully soon and often! Thank you Mary and Peter for a truly relaxing, deeply restorative getaway. I a very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in your bluff top cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
