We had a wonderful week at Sea Forest. The house is near the holiday town of Edisto Beach (well appointed, has everything you need), but is set on a secluded road alongside other holiday homes to the north of the town. The creek to the back of the house is wonderful - quiet, a great spot to watch birds and wildlife - and the views of the sea to the front are lovely. There is plenty to do within walking distance of the house (not least on long Eddingsville Beach). And a lot to explore in the surrounding area, with both Charleston and Savannah easily accessible. The house is very well appointed and comfortable. It's very nicely decorated, as well as being very practical for families. The sea breezes acted as fantastic air conditioning (ours was a hot March week). And the owners were extremely nice to deal with.

Hands down, the most relaxing vacation EVER...there's not a "bad" view from any window...constant ocean breeze...the hammock on the dock...jon boat rides to the beach...we will be back again and again! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

My family and I are (sadly!) spending our last day here at Sea Forest after having a most magnificent stay this week. We have been coming to Edisto for about thirty years and stayed in many different places. We have now found our favorite! The setting is incredible and the house is very, very comfortable, clean and well-maintained. It was a perfect place to see out the old year and welcome 2011. We were delayed a day in getting here because we were snowed in at home in Asheville. Mike very generously offered for us to stay another day to make up for the day we missed. This was totally unexpected and very much appreciated. The only negative thing about our stay is that we have to leave tomorrow! You will love it here too, I'm sure!

My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, rented this home for a long weekend in October. We were awe struck by the location and the house - you can see the creek, and on out to the ocean, from the wide expanse of windows across the front of the house. The Island is so private you feel like you have the whole place to yourself. Enjoyable, but a little bit of a walk to the beach. We rented a jon boat to go up and down the creek for fun and to fish. Each day, we had dolphins play around the boat while we were fishing. Wonderful dock to fish from also - or just sit out on and enjoy watching the dolphins. Has a gazebo area so you can spend the day on the dock, but have shade - not all of the houses have this amenity. The house itself is beautiful - wonderful kitchen with nice (almost new) pots/pans/dishes & utensils. The downstairs is open and has a fresh, airy feeling. The, living room and screened in back porch are very comfortably appointed. The downstairs master bedroom is big and well appointed, with a bathroom attached. However, you can close off the bedroom during the day so others can use the master bathroom without losing your bedroom privacy. The 2nd bathroom is on the 1st floor. It is a little old but nicely kept and very clean. The upstairs bedrooms need a little work on the ceilings, but the beds are fine and the rooms are clean. I would not recommend this house if you have very small children as you may not feel comfortable with them navigating the stairway to the upstairs or getting up during the night to go downstairs to use the bathroom. We kept the windows open and never needed to turn on the air conditioninng. Overall, the house is VERY clean, wonderfully decorated and well kept up, especially the kitchen and bathrooms which is how I really judge a house. We look forward to renting this house again (and again).

We had the most glorious stay at this fantastic home. The new master bedroom and bath is worth the drive alone. You can sit at the window that runs the entire length of the house and watch the marsh in all its glory or you can sit on the screened back porch with fireplace and see the dock and that part of the marsh. This place was so peaceful and quiet when we went in early spring. We so enjoyed our walks along the natural roads. There was always something new to see and each tide brought new adventures. The owner is one of the nicest around. We definitely plan to go back to enjoy and relax.

A wonderful, wonderful stay. The house is as advertised with only one surprise; the views and scenery are much more beautiful than the pictures. We HIGHLY recommend renting the john boat. Not only is it much easier than carrying all your stuff to the beach, but also, it is a truly unique and fun way to get there. The kids and the dogs loved riding in the boat to the beach. And, the beach at the inlet offered the best of all worlds: waves at high tide; shells, islands and wading depth at low tide. Not to mention is was virtually like having your personal private beach.

We were tired, mentally and physically, and we drove up about sunset to find . . . heaven on earth. Incredible house that is wonderful for either families or couples. We spent hours on the porch, greeted the sun with deer and waterfowl, shelled and fell in love with Edisto and Sea Forest. We will be back, again and again!

After months of moving, empty-nesting, and crisis-managing our aging parents, your home here welcomed us to much needed respite. It is so soothing to be surronded on two sides by the slow rhythms of the marsh tides, to sleep to the sound of breeze and surf, and to walk for hours along the beach. We too saw dolphins in the creek, giant horseshoe crabs, eagles and whooping crane. The bird life here is astonishing. We read and wrote and talked-- even caught and ate some crab. The jon boat is lots of fun. The superb watercolors and pottery in your home attest to your own love of beauty. This is a beautiful place. We are blessed and refreshed for having been here.

Finally--after canoeing past Cowpens for several years and dreaming about being able to stay here, I actually found Sea Forest and my dreams came true. Thank you for making your home available. We had such a wonderful time and it was everything we imagined. My husband and I had a fun time visiting with our grown children that we don't get to spend much time with anymore.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week here! House is comfortable with lovely views all round. We never tired of watching pelicans floating above us on the deck. The beach here is great--always nice and quiet to putter along and very relaxing. Thanks for all your help, too, and we'd love to come back! A lovely spot!

This has to be one of the most peaceful, secluded settings available anywhere. It is perfect for just relaxing, but the marsh and beach offer opportunities for unique adventures if you're so inclined. The home offers modern conveniences and incredible views, while preserving a classic feel. We definitely hope to return soon.

We loved being guests of Sea Forest! We had all kinds of weather and found various activities for all of it. We explored from Charleston to the ends of Edisto Island. Had yummy meals; checked out the local beer and seafood. We really loved the privacy and views so very much. Our 4 1/2 year old became very intimate with the flora, fauna and sea life--present and past. Thanks from one island family to another.

Following our wedding in Charleston, we honeymooned at this delightful get-away beach-house for three days. We were immediately greeted by sights of great white/blue herons, kingfishers, and white ibises. On beach it is impossible NOT to find the best sea shells in the state. Sipping wine on the dock watching the sunset over the marsh was memorable. Sitting back and enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the ocean tides hitting the beach was hypnotic. Thoroughly enjoyable!

As a biologist/naturalist this place was a whole new world for me. I am a freshwater biologist on Lake Erie. I learned something new everyday. I learned how to go 'shrimping', 'crabbing', and caught a 5 lb. Red Drum (It was delicious). The sounds of the night were wonderful. My wife loved the beach and ocean.
