Star Mesa is delightful cabin/log home with comfy, tasteful furnishings, a great kitchen with large breakfast/entertainment bar, and open living/dining areas. Each bedroom has a comfy Queen size bed. The pull out couch is also queen size. It is great for a family, or peace and quiet. The mountain views are vast and amazing. Deer, elk, and turkeys frequent the neighborhood. You will love the large deck and the porch swing view of the peaks.
The five-acre property looks and feels like a thousand as you look from the deck across the pond at the expanse of Big Horn Sheep canyon and mountains to the north, and the Sangre De Cristo mountains to the south. In spring and summer it is green and surrounded by the sounds of Cherry Creek flowing down from the mountains. Skinny dip in the pond or sunbathe in privacy on the deck. Fall is a golden wonderland. In winter light a fire and burrow in, or head for the hills to ski. NOTE: SPRING/SUMMER OF 2011 DROUGHT CONDITIONS EXIST. THE POND IS LOWER THAN PHOTOS DEPICT AND THE GRASS MAY NOT BE AS GREEN.
Star Mesa is three miles from the Arkansas River, and a 15-mile drive from Salida and all of its charming amenities, restaurants, galleries, hot springs pool, world-class boating and fishing. Monarch Ski Area is a 40-minute drive. Bring your bikes, boots, horse, skis, or some good books and a yoga mat.
All vacation homes in the Pinon collection are "vacation ready" with a fully appointed kitchen, towels and linens. Hand, dish and shower soaps are provided as well as tp, trash bags and coffee filters. Bring your own laundry detergent, paper products (paper towels, napkins) and toiletries. Star Mesa is also equipped with an ironing board, iron and hair dryer.
Three night minimum is preferred, however, two nights may be available upon approval with a cleaning fee. Two night stays will not be scheduled over two weeks in advance during High Season and Holidays. Owners reserve the right to accept or refuse three night stays during High Season and Holidays. Extended stay rates are available subject to owner use and availability. Your dog is welcome with a $10/nt pet fee.
Visa or Master Card accepted with a 2.9% fee, or pay by check.
Rental agreements must be signed and returned by email or mail at time of reservation.
Cancellation Policy A reservation may be cancelled more than 30 days prior to check-in but may be subject to a $75 cancellation fee. Sorry, no refunds will be given for reservations cancelled less than 30 days prior to check-in unless the unit can be re-rented for the same dates, or, in some cases at manager's discretion, you move your reservation to another date.

Hi, I'm Lawton and I love Star Mesa! I lived here for five years before moving into town (Salida). By vacation renting I am still able to come out and enjoy the peace and beauty of Star Mesa. I love to read the guest comments! I found that I enjoy helping visitors have a memorable vacation so much, I'm now a realtor working with folks to purchase their own vacation homes, and I manage several rental homes for other owners. This area has been home for more than ten years now and I can't imagine being anywhere else!

Star Mesa is a gem. Waking up to sunrise over the mountains, seeing deer in our front yard and the peaceful nights are my idea of a relaxing vacation. We loved playing in the pond and canoeing in the morning is very romantic. Star Mesa's a great base for our 4-wheeling and rafting adventures. We hope to come back!

Wow! Star Mesa fare exceeded our expectations and we have fallen deeply in love with "the crown jewel of Howard"! From a parents perspective it was the perfect place to return to each day after enjoying all the area has to offer. The back deck looking onto the gorgeous meadow, pond and mountains beyond was a feast for our eyes. The home itself is beautifully decorated, open and wonderful for our group of 5 and a very happy dog. Everyone was comfortable and we all agree, we love it here!

Excellent vacation in lovely Colorado! This house was the perfect location - quiet, peaceful, able to accommodate a wonderful family reunion! The back deck is amazing - absolutely gorgeous views all day long, wonderful meals out there. The table under the trees is very special as well - great place for dining and relaxing! The wind through the cedars leads to unbelievable inner peace. You have a wonderful home - cozy, inviting, open and warm - thank you for sharing it with us!

We are a family of five with young children and we had a wonderful time. The views were breathtaking and the cabin was in great condition. We enjoyed taking walks, sitting on the patio, mountain biking on the nearby gravel roads; and the highlight for my kids was canoeing in your own private pond. Wonderful stay!!

Paradise found…..thank you for sharing this little slice of Colorado paradise. We enjoyed the pond most of all! What a perfect time of the year with all the spring colors, little calves and even minnows in the pond. ‘Twas absolutely fabulous. We look forward to returning and seeing another season.

We saw the pictures of Star Mesa online but we had no idea how beautiful it was until we got there. We’ve been all over Colorado and this is one of the most beautiful places we’ve seen. It is truly a Colorado paradise. We’ll definitely be back!

Autumn at Star Mesa could not have been more beautiful! We loved the golden leaves falling like snow; the fresh dusting of snow atop the peaks; the huge full moon; the howling of the coyote’s serenading us while we grilled dinner; a pleasant hike in the woods; and fishing the Arkansas. This house has all the comforts of home in a special setting. Thank you!
