We had a great time at this beautiful old house. So much room (we all had our favorite places to hide out in :) and every possible item provided making it a true home from home. This was a great base for day trips to the amazing caverns in the area and also for D.C. The homeowners went "above and beyond" to be friendly and helpful. Hope to come back someday and will definately reccommend to others!

We really enjoyed our weekend in the Peter Miller house. It was built in 1802 but has been updated several times. The furniture was comfortable and cozy . . .the king bed upstairs was the most comfortable bed my husband said he had ever slept in. The owners have thought of every detail, and the house was very clean! We walked to Old Town, many restaurants & shops, and live music. First Friday of-the-month in Old Town was fun and lively! I only wished we could have stayed an extra day. Winchester has lots to see and do! I hope to come back!
Owner response:We're so glad that your anniversary visit to Winchester was enjoyable. Getting to share our home and Winchester with folks like you is why we love renting. We hope you get to come back too! We do have quite a few folks who return year after year... Take care, Justine and Jonathan

My colleagues and I were looking for a "getaway" to work on a writing project. The Peter Miller House in downtown Winchester was ideal! It is spacious, clean, well appointed and quiet. We arrived on Friday, late afternoon, and had a wonderful Italian dinner on the sidewalk eating area on the walking Mall just a few short blocks from the house. We worked from 8 am to past midnight on Saturday, taking one break for lunch at a restaurant just two blocks away and then having some steaks on the Weber grill in the backyard for dinner. The kitchen had everything we needed. The three bedrooms were perfect for us and the beds were quite comfortable. We'd like to come back with more time to enjoy all the attractions and sights in the area.

This was my second stay at the Peter Miller House. What a truly wonderful find! My friends and I stayed there while attending a conference at the University and we were the envy of our colleagues who were staying in the dorms. Beautiful home, perfectly furnished, and the outdoor patio is so quaint and private. Everything you need is there. The owners are friendly and gracious. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed.

We stayed for two weeks as we had lots of family in the area to visit. The house was perfect. It is elegantly furnished without being too stiff -- ideal for us with our 2 year old daughter. The fenced in back yard was also great. Proximity to the downtown pedestrian mall is a plus. We loved the breakfast at Swirls and Sunday brunch at Village Square is excellent. Also, Violino's is worth the walk to the other end of the mall -- some of the finest Italian food you'll eat anywhere!! It would be nice if house had wireless internet, but several cafes nearby have wireless.

Winchester was such a pleasant surprise. This city is remarkable in that all of the old homes survived the Civil War. It has a low-key lovely small town feeling. You can walk 2 blocks to the downtown which has a large pedestrian-only mall. We enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant (off the pedestrian mall) and Brewbaker's on the mall. The Peter Miller House has been renovated in such a way as to retain the very old flavor of Winchester homes but with all of the modern amenities you could want. A great kitchen, really nice fenced-in rear courtyard, 3 nice bedrooms, modern bathrooms and a lovely common room and dining room. At first we northerners were surprised that we could not open the windows, but quickly understood that those old windows would have been bears to replace. What you get is top-notch air conditioning and heat...we used both being in a funny in-between season. There are nice shops and restaurants within walking distance plus tons of lovely very old Winchester houses to look at as you stroll around the neighborhood. Nearby attractions, include the excellent Museum of the Shenandoah, a winery, and nice hiking plus lots more all quite close by. We hope to return, thanks!
