South Bethany Beach house description
*If you have a large group and need overflow space, please also see our other property two blocks away and even closer to the beach on VRBO listing #250452. The house pictured here sits on a shaded lot on one of South Bethany’s widest canals. There is a private boat dock just steps down from a large ground-level deck in the back yard. In less than 10 minutes you can walk or ride your bike to South Bethany’s clean, lifeguarded beach. A short walk up the beach takes you past the Sea Colony high-rise to the Bethany Beach boardwalk. When you get back from the beach, rinse off in the outdoor shower, then sit down to lunch at the picnic table shaded by a large pine tree growing up through the deck. Kids will love angling for crabs from the boat dock.
Will you be bringing a boat? In the evening you can take it out to the bay for spectacular sunsets; or just fire up the barbecue and enjoy the sunset right here on our quiet canal.
Entering the house through the front door, you are greeted by a sunny living room which looks out toward one of South Bethany’s main north-south canals. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, outfitted with a full-sized bed and twin beds, respectively, and there is a full bath on this level. The second floor contains a master bedroom suite with Queen-sized bed and full bath, accessed by a circular iron stairway that rises up adjacent to the kitchen. Two sets of sliding glass doors off the master bedroom lead to a private, second-story deck overlooking the canal and yard below. Proceeding past the kitchen and laundry area, you step into the large and airy sunroom, which serves as dining area, rec. room, reading and napping space. This inviting room is filled with knee-to-ceiling windows that overlook the deck and canal out back.
If you are familiar with the beaches of Delaware and Maryland, then you’ll know that the following description is only a hint of the fun times and relaxing ambience of this area. If you are not, then you must first know that South Bethany, along with Bethany Beach just to the north and Fenwick Island just to the south, are centrally located along the Delaware-Maryland Atlantic seaboard, and bill themselves as Delaware’s “Quiet Resorts.” They are famously “family-friendly,” boasting clean, uncrowded, lifeguarded beaches. Your family will enjoy exploring the Bethany Beach boardwalk and taking in the free, live entertainment that is provided there from time to time. Fenwick Island has a water park, miniature golf courses, and movie theaters to check out.
From our houses you also are close to the wide variety of places and experiences that the Delaware-Maryland shore has to offer: Ocean City, MD to the south, with its large boardwalk and amusement park; the storied nightlife of Dewey Beach, DE just up the coast; and the TAX-FREE outlet shopping in Rehoboth, not to mention its boardwalk, nightlife, and unique shops. If you want to, catch the ferry from Lewes, DE to Atlantic City and try your hand at a little gambling. However you choose to spend your time here, we know you will have a wonderful vacation.

Excellent Family Beach House
Excellent Family Beach House
My wife and kids arrived at this house and discovered a very clean, well kept home with all the comforts of your own. The house is perfect for anyone with small children with plenty of activities to keep them busy. The canal in the back offers crabbing and the included kayak is a nice addition. A ten minute walk puts your right on the beach. Washer, dryer, dish washer, gas grill, cable tv, central air, etc. This house has it all. The neighborhood is quiet and the people you meet along the way were always friendly. The other really nice thing is that a 15min drive north or south puts you right in Rehoboth or Ocean City to take in the boardwalks and all of the restaurants and shops. All in all, our family could not have been happier with the house or the owners. Will come back again and will definitely recommend this house.

We stayed 7/28 to 8/4/2013 and we flew in from TX. We are seniors and we had our 30 something daughter & son-in-law with us too. The house is very comfortable and quiet. We sat out each evening with our drink and every morning with our coffee, it was so relaxing. You can walk to the beach, but you are provided 2 passes to park, but it is such a short distance. We had a glitch with our linen rental company but our landlords, Maryellen and Jim helped us through the problem - and they are not even associated with them. We had a wonderful time and we were so happy that we had landlords that would help us since we were so far from home! We are originally from the Chadds Ford PA/Wilmington, DE area and we used to spend many weekends at the Delaware beaches. We miss it alot, but we had our fill of crabs (3 times in our week) - Phillips (the big one in OC, The Blue Crab and Mickey's - The Blue Crab gets our vote (right in Bethany). And sitting on the beach every day never got boring. We bought a kite which we bought on the boardwalk down in OC and went to both the Bethany's & OC boardwalks. We did shopping at the Country Store, The Christmas Shop and if you like cross stitch, there is a very big store on the OC boardwalk. Oh, and don't forget the best corn and tomatoes at the hucksters along the roadsides. We had a fantastic time - THANK YOU MARYELLEN & JIM!

Very nice spot
Very nice spot
The house was much like advertised - no surprises or disappointments. Very nice neighborhood and easy walk to the beach. There was a problem with the HVAC system which the LL took care of promptly. We did spend one unusually cold night (for late May) wishing we had heat. Overall a posisitve and pleasant experience.

It's a short walk to the beach and the deck is great for my grandkids to fish , crab and and nice spot for the adults to relax! The property was clean and well maintained. It had everything a family would want while on vacation. It was very relaxing to sit on the deck and look at the canal. I would recommend this property and would stay there again. Owner was very helpful with any questions.
