Our other house is a 3 minute walk to the beach and has weeks still open in July, August and September. The house pictured here has just one high season week left in late August. It sits on a shaded lot on one of South Bethany’s widest canals. There is a private boat dock just steps down from a large ground-level deck in the back yard. In less than 10 minutes you can walk or ride your bike to South Bethany’s clean, lifeguarded beach. A short walk up the beach takes you past the Sea Colony high-rise to the Bethany Beach boardwalk. When you get back from the beach, rinse off in the outdoor shower, then sit down to lunch at the picnic table shaded by a large pine tree growing up through the deck. Kids will love angling for crabs from the boat dock.

Do you play tennis? Then suit up and take the 5-minute stroll over to the 4 private courts nestled in the trees near the town hall. As our guest, your are entitled to the use of these private courts. In the evening, take your boat out to the bay for spectacular sunset views; or fire up the barbecue and relax and enjoy the serenity of the canal at sunset.

Entering the house through the front door, you are greeted by a sunny living room with newly-upholstered casual furniture and a great view through the bay window down one of South Bethany’s main north-south oriented canals. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, outfitted with a full-sized bed and twin beds, respectively, and there is a full bath on this level. The second floor contains a master bedroom suite with Queen-sized bed and full bath, accessed by a circular stairway that rises up adjacent to the kitchen. Two sets of sliding glass doors off the master bedroom lead to a private, second-story deck overlooking the canal and yard below. Proceeding past the kitchen and laundry area, you step into the large and airy sunroom, which serves as dining area, rec. room, reading and napping space. This inviting room is filled with knee-to-ceiling windows that overlook the deck and canal out back.

If you are familiar with the beaches of Delaware and Maryland, then you’ll know that the following description is only a hint of the fun times and relaxing ambience of this area. If you are not, then you must first know that South Bethany, along with Bethany Beach just to the north and Fenwick Island just to the south, are centrally located along the Delaware-Maryland Atlantic seaboard, and bill themselves as Delaware’s “Quiet Resorts.” They are famously “family-friendly,” boasting clean, uncrowded, lifeguarded beaches. Your family will enjoy exploring the Bethany Beach boardwalk and taking in the free, live entertainment that is provided there from time to time. Fenwick Island has a water park, miniature golf courses, and movie theaters to check out.

From our houses you also are close to the wide variety of places and experiences that the Delaware-Maryland shore has to offer: Ocean City, MD to the south, with its large boardwalk and amusement park; the storied nightlife of Dewey Beach, DE just up the coast; and the TAX-FREE outlet shopping in Rehoboth, not to mention its boardwalk, nightlife, and unique shops. If you want to, catch the ferry from Lewes, DE to Atlantic City and try your hand at a little gambling. However you choose to spend your time here, we know you will have a wonderful vacation.
