  We just returned from our vacation & I had to write a review to say what a great time we had! The location of this condo is wonderful--close to the ocean, beautiful area, great condo complex (nice neighbors), close to stores, easy to freeway entrance, etc. The condo itself is very clean & comfortable. The kitchen is updated and had everything we needed. The bathrooms are large and nicely updated as well. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The condo is better than the descriptions and pictures show. There are 2 couches in the family room, which are not pictured, and which make it much more family friendly. It is right across from the beach entrance and the view of the ocean from right outside the condo is amazing! There are many steps that lead down to the beach, but access is very easy. There were great beach supplies available for our use as well: chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, etc. That was so nice! For those who don't love the stairs, the "funicular" is right there & opened on the weekends and during the summer. We were fine without it! The beach is a beautiful sandy beach with amazing views. We saw dolphins nearly each time we were on the beach! We had everything we needed and no problems. Thank you for your great condo to stay in, it was very family friendly--we hope to be back next year!:)

  Bottom line is that our rental experience at this condo was completely unacceptable. Instead of a relaxing / rejuvenating vacation we were constantly being contacted by the owner to be the go between to get broken items in the condo fixed. For example: • Dishwasher was broken the entire visit. We were forced to deal with multiple parties to try to resolve; to no avail. In fact, one day, we lost part of our day waiting on the plumber that left because the owner chose not to pay for his services. However, no one informed us! We shouldn’t have been dealing with this issue at all. It’s the property owner's responsibility to have a manager that takes care of these issues when they arise. We had to hand wash dishes the entire visit. •Dishes in the cabinets were dirty upon our arrival - GROSS! *Patio had major hole from water repair that brought repair men in •Electricity went out 3 times •Hot water was out for a day •Ceiling fan in guest bedroom was broken •No can opener of any kind in kitchen •Broken hairdryer in guest bath •No portable crib when we arrived. That was additional wasted time for us versus it being in place as promised. •I was on the phone with the owner, Frank, or a repair person EVERY DAY of my vacation…sometimes 3 times per day. I don’t think that’s a vacation when I’m dealing with the condo’s shortcomings. *The crowning moment was when we were singing happy birthday to my husband's mother and 2 repair men joined in. Really? Some vacation!! I’ve rented many times from VRBO and by far this was my worst experience.

  Owner response: We are sorry for these things that happened during this particular stay. We have never experienced anything quite like this, because we take care of everything in a timely fashion. Everything was in working order prior to guests arrival. The crib was there by 3 pm, but the guest arrived by 1 pm. The contract states that arrival is at 3pm stat. Electricity and water went out for a short time, however we have no control of this because the association is responsible for these matters and the repairs were speedy and taken care of once we called. We are proud of our vaction condo business dealings with our guests because we are always there when issues come up and we solve it promptly.

  "Dee, we really enjoyed our vacation at your beautiful condo. I got the deposit payment, thanks. That was very fast !! Sometimes I am waiting more than 2 months for this. Dana Point was a very nice beach city, and we will come back, but then we need the condo with 3 bedrooms. The condo was really very good and we find really nice neigbors, I hope you?ll find your plants well tended, we love condos with real plants. So maybe until next year, if we will make it.   "We found this property to be absolutely perfect! We only had to walk across the street to get down to the beach. The neighborhood was nice, the boys LOVED the pool, the layout of the home is perfect - having two bathrooms. I appreciated very much having the laptop that I could use - so thank you for that extra! We were THRILLED to see beach items at the home so we didn't have to buy any extra things and were very appreciative of the toiletries and cleaning supplies. We would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone. We rented it with my husband, myself, my mom and our two boys and it worked wonderfully! The area is FANTASTIC!! We never had to travel more than 10 minutes away in the whole time we were there. Everything is SO close! We will be keeping this in mind if we visit again.

  We stayed in Dana Point for a week in January 2011 and this was an unbelievable place. Clean, comfortable. Hot tub and pool were great. We walked down to the beach every morning and every evening. Close to everything. It was never crowded. We did the tide pools and the sunsets were the most spectacular that we have ever seen. We highly recommend this place if you want a small slice of paradise and an a chance to get away from the pressures of life. We found it to be very affordable and plan to go back again next year.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

  We enjoyed this condo. Nice beach. Check the bars and ask for prices as went from $6 to $2 for a bottle of beer. Nice little shops at the harbor. Easy ride to Disneyland. Would recommend this condo.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

  Before we explain about the beach and pool access problems, we would like to say that the unit itself was very good: clean, well equiped (TVs, towels, sheets, kitchen equipment, night lights, etc.) and well proportioned (good sized bedrooms, front room, kitchen, etc.). We had absolutely no problem getting there, accessing the unit, and finding everything we needed (although a plan of the complex in the unit itself would have helped us find the pool and jacuzzi's). There were also lots of information about local attractions and restaurants which also proved useful as this was our first time in Dana Point. What you need to realise though is that access to the beach is far more arduous than suggested in the description. It is accross the road from the beach access and does allow you to see sunsets over the ocean, but not from the unit (except from one window). Once you get to the beach access point, you have to walk down about 100 steps to reach the thin sandy beach itself. There is a new fanicular railway to take you down the steps, then a steep slope takes you the rest of the way ... but this only runs weekends except in the height of the season. We were not told this despite explaining that we had elderly parents, one in a wheelchair, with us. So, no beach use for them. When asked repeatedly where the pool was, and how close, we were never given a direct answer. We now know why as the pool is about 300 yards away from the unit, on the other side of the complex, and the nearest jacuzzi and sun bathing area is still 200 yards away. We could get there by walking over flat pavements, but it is still quite a way away. However, once there both are very nice areas, and as it is primarily an 'owner occupier' complex, both are virturally empty during weekdays. All in all this is a very nice unit and we will not hesitate to stay there again so long as my parents don't want to come too. With no kids, we don't care that the beach is a long hike away, and we are fit enough to get to the pool when we want to. Just bear this in mind when you are planning your trip. If you like to sit on the balcony looking out at the ocean ... go to a truely beach front property, as this one, while near the beach, has very limited views of it. The people we dealt with were very helpful (except for not answering our questions about the pool), and everything went smoothly. Despite the above, we would like to thank them very much for a great holiday condo.
