Why the Owner Chose Murphy

We love Murphy and the friendliness of the good people of the area. It's a slower pace and a handshake still means something. We hope to retire to this community in the coming years. We have owned and sold 7 or 8 land lots in this area and came to realize exactly what we wanted in a home. No road noise and that long western view. Nothing beats a fabulous sunset at the end of a long fun filled day!

The Unique Benefits at this Chalet

It's so peaceful! We love the view of the mountains from the deck and the quiet of the woods. Our lives are hectic and this place offers a get away from all the daily stresses and trials. We are just a day trip away from some great places like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and just 2 hours from Atlanta. Gem mine, white water raft, boat,or shop, it's all in this area of Western North Carolina. But some days,I just like to sit and listen to the birds chirp and watch the squirrels play in the trees. Watch for the Air Force fly boys! every now and then a fighter jet will come and go so fast and so low you won't even see then but you"ll hear them!

Owner's Map of Murphy

We are the Bush Family from Cape Coral Florida. Our only son is a Florida Gator! We are originally from NE Ohio but have lived in Florida for over 27 years. Our goal is to move to Murphy in the coming years. This small town offers friendly folks, a great hospital, and all the shopping one needs!
We own and run a small auto body repair shop in Fort Myers Florida. We do light collision but our passion is restoration of the classics! We run to Murphy whenever time allows to enjoy our home. The peace and quiet is a welcome state of mind!

Wonderful Place to stay

Date of Stay: 12/23/11 Review Submitted: 12/31/11

Our Stay in Murphy was great. Claudia the owner was great, she provided us with a lot of information that made our trip a success. The Chalet was very well maintained and cleaned. She has everything that you would find in your own house in this Chalet. All the information that she provided to us was correct and very useful. Even though we did not get to see snow, we did encounter some heavy rain storms and she was nice enough to check on us to make sure we made it safely. We traveled to Franklin, and its a nice city to visit. It has a great place for kids called Fun Factory. The waterfalls around Murphy and adjacent cities are very pretty and worth the trip to go and see. The view of the mountains were priceless, and this Chalet is so warm and cozy. I would recommend this Chalet and I look forward to visiting it again.

Relax or not...the choice is yours!

Claudia made getting in and finding stuff to do easy. The chalet is beautiful, spacious and well decorated. No need for a bike for cardio....just run the hill daily and you are set! Lots of things to do in Murphy and the surrounding areas. Try Highlands for the waterfalls, Bryson City for tubing, and points south for Kayaking at Rolling Thunder, rafting the middle Ocoee with NOC, zip-lining in the canopy with N. GA canopy tours, and hiking the nearby A.T.! Lots of beautiful waterfalls including Sliding Rock in Pisgah National Forest. Remember to wear shorts and a t-shirt as the water is freezing and you will tear up your bathing suit. Not feeling adventurous? Enjoy sunrises and sets on the porch and watching the birds come to the feeders. Wednesday nights is karaoke at Chevelle's in town. The shrimp was awesome and the guys liked the wings. The Chop House in town was also very good. We hope you enjoy your time at this cabin as much as we enjoyed ours. PS: Bring games for the evenings and secretly unscrew the satelite dish! Hahaha! Tell him it must be cloud cover! :O)

Owner response:Thanks Terry and Roland! Glad your family had an awesome week the cabin!

An excellent cabin with beautiful views!!

We loved our stay at the cabin! The pictures posted on the website do not do this chalet justice. Waking up in the morning and being able to look outside and take in the spectacular views was just wonderful. There are so many activities that are close by including the waterfalls outside of Highlands, Nantahala National Forest, and Cherohala Skyway. The owner, Claudia, was simply a pleasure to work with and was extremely gracious. She provided us with several recommendations which made our stay that much more enjoyable. I, personally, had a great time just sitting on the front porch and listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. If we make it back to the Smokies, we will definitely be staying here again!

Great cabin!

Guest: DJ (Tallahassee, FL)
Date of Stay: 12/28/10 Review Submitted: 01/07/11

We selected this cabin based on the proximity to Florida and the pet-friendly policy. We were very pleased with the cabin's comfort and beautiful location. The views from the front deck are great, especially at sunset. We were lucky enough to be there while there was snow on the ground. I will also add that the owner, Claudia, was very helpful. She called with updates regarding the status of the neighborhood's snow plowing before we drove up. Very grateful she did so, because if we would have drove up on the first day, we wouldn't have been able to get to the cabin. We definitely recommend this cabin and would not hesitate to stay there again if we make it back to NC!

Owner response:Thanks! We want each and every visitor to our home to have an excellent adventure! But too much snow would be a problem as our drive into the neighborhood is steep even in dry summer weather. Thanks for your patience as the neighborhood dealt with snow removal! Glad you had a great time and enjoyed that priceless view!

What an amazing cabin

Guest: The Warrens (Williston, Fl)
Date of Stay: 10/16/10 Review Submitted: 10/30/10

The cabin was exactly like it was listed. The views were more beautiful in person than the pictures. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. We would definitely recommend the cabin to our family and friends. There are so many things to do that are within driving distances. Murphy has alot to offer for everyone. Lord willing, we will be able to go back again.

Home Away from Home

Guest: Mom (Tallahassee, Florida)
Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 07/06/10

My family and I chose this cabin because of the location and pet-friendly policy. The cabin was clean, comfortable and easy to find. During our stay we went tubing in (nearby) Cherokee, rafting in Bryson City and explored the town of Blue Ridge. We appreciated the gorgeous drives both north (Smoky Mountain National Park) and west (Tennessee State Line) of Murphy. The owners were very friendly and professional; a pleasure to deal with.

what a view

Guest: waterfall lover (Illinois)
Date of Stay: 06/06/10 Review Submitted: 06/13/10

My family just returned from the Chalet and we had a great time. The view from the deck is spectacular, The chalet was very comfortable and very private. We enjoyed eating within the view of the large picture windows and seeing the mountains in the distance. The grill on the deck came in handy as we grilled the rainbow trout that we had caught earlier in the day. All in all a great location only a few minutes from town but still seemed very private.

Owner response:Thanks, Gary and I are really glad that you enjoyed your time in the mountains!
