Six St Giles Street is B-listed (a building of importance to national heritage) in the Conservation area of the Royal Mile. This one bedroom (can sleep up to four if you use a sofabed in the lounge), third floor apartment commands a prestigious position on the corner of St Giles Street and The Royal Mile. It provides astounding views of the adjacent St Giles Cathedral and up the Lawnmarket (top end of the Royal Mile) to Edinburgh Castle 250 metres away.
The apartment is only a few minutes walk from many other major Edinburgh attractions such as the Royal Scottish Museum and the National Gallery of Scotland. There is also a copious amount of bars, restaurants, cafe’s and shops in the immediate area. The apartment is furnished and decorated to a high standard and is a very comfortable holiday flat for your visit to Edinburgh. Guests who have a laptop can also enjoy a free broadband connection either through the supplied cable or by wifi. Please note there is a minimum 2 night booking fee for this apartment.

Great flat for two, maybe three people. Stairs can be a bad thing if don't get around well, but for the young at heart and mobile this is a very warm and cozy, private nest for an extended visit. Street watching from above is almost as fun as getting out in it. Close views of St. Giles, the Hub, and the High St. are rivaled by the long-range view toward Pentland Hills to the south. Property is well cared for and clean. Kitchen is stocked sufficiently for all except gourmet chefs I would imagine. Furniture is comfortable as is, and I understand new couches will arrive in March 2010. Building is a solid historic structure--never heard the neighbors around or above us (except sometimes the main door 3 floors down) and didn't feel like we were keeping them awake either. Everything you need to find or want to visit is within a short (but not always easy) walk. We never even had to use the bus system, which I understand is quite handy. Glenn (owner) was extremely easy to work with and very forgiving of all my inane questions before arrival, and Dave Stewart, who will most likely be the one to meet you at the property, was very informative and helpful about how to get settled, where to find everything we would need, and how to contact him should we find ourselves at a loss. Just make sure to be waiting at the correct property entrance or risk a ribbing. As much as there is to get out and do in this city, there were days that all we wanted to do was to stay here in the flat and watch the action on the street. It was that comfortable and familiar. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, but at the same time want to experience some of this owner's other properties because I'm sure they are just as welcoming. Bottom line: as long as you know what you're getting into with the steps, you could not find a better flat than this one.

We spent five nights at this excellent apartment, perfectly located, and well equipped. As the flat is just in front of St. Giles Cathedral we enjoy from its windows the view of a knight's ceremony, presided by the Queen. Briefly, it was just perfect.

This past March my husband, my cousin and her husband and I spent a lovely week in Edinburgh. The apartment was terrific and is in the perfect location, just steps from the Royal Mile and the bus tours, the castle, everything. We are already trying to set dates for our next visit.

The apartment was the best location on the Royal Mile! Very nice! Dave the gentlman who met us to give us the key was very informative on places to eat and visit. Great views from the front room. Walking to everything was very close. No car needed. Get a taxi from airport and walk. We would stay at the apartment again if we do come back to Edinburgh.

What a beautiful, well located apartment. We found ourselves near so many things we wanted to see and a five minute walk to Waverly Station for everything else!Without a doubt, we'll be back!
