Come to where you can relax enough to feel your heart beat. Almost 40 acres on a dead-end road only eight miles from town. It's private enough to sit outside on the patio in your pajamas and enjoy your morning coffee. In the evenings, watch the stars while sitting around a stone ringed fire pit.
Newly constructed (2006) guest suite has easy level access and no stairs. The place stays naturally cool in summer and has ceramic tile floors with in-floor heat for those chilly days. The rooms are very comfortable and the view from each room looks out over the field onto unspoiled waterfront. For about the price of two hotel rooms, you'll get a lot more room and privacy. You can make yourself at home and visit in the family room or have some peace and quiet in a bedroom.....ideal for extended families or friends traveling together.
The place is fully furnished with linens, dishes and utensils and also has a charcoal BBQ, wireless internet and satellite TV. There are radio alarm clocks in each room, a hair dryer in the bathroom and even 4 flannel robes in the closet.
This is one of the most unique properties in the Copper Country. There's hundreds of feet of frontage around a small bay and almost 35 acres to explore. You'll be able to see wildlife while fishing, birdwatching, lounging or just walking on this beautiful piece of property. There's usually a breeze that has the added bonus of keeping the bugs away!
Fish out front in the bay or off of the point where there are Northern Pike, Bass and Perch. Walleye and Lake Trout are just a short distance away. There's also a pond on the property that is stocked with Rainbow Trout and Bluegills. A 12' rowboat, 4 person pedal boat and 2 person sit-on-top kayak are available for guests to use.
You'll want to have your camera around if you are a birdwatcher. There has been several unusual sightings of birds on the property such as a Dicksissel (first sighting in this area in almost 20 years), Cattle Egret, Pelicans, Swans, Yellow Headed Blackbird and Harris' Sparrow. Many bird species are "regulars" including Sandhill Cranes, Eagles, Great Horned Owls, Blue Herons, Green Herons, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, Pine Grosbeaks, Evening Grosbeaks, Bobolinks, Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, barn swallows, many ducks etc., etc., etc. If you are patient and quiet enough, you may even get a Hummingbird to land on your finger at the feeder. In winter, there are several top notch cross country ski trails in the area and snowmobilers have hundreds of miles of trails to explore. In any season, it's fun to just take a drive and enjoy the scenic beauty and rich history of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The UP was listed as #10 in the list of "top 10 summer destinations in the world" at the shermanstravel web site and the article was displayed in the MSN travel section.
