  My family of 5 were extremely lucky to find such a wonderful spot so peaceful and beatiful. Amenities were terrific - everything we needed plus more. Extensively stocked ktichen even the gourmet cook was happy. Nice decks to veiw the ocean from.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

  The pictures on the Internet do not do the property justice. It is large, well-maintained and secluded, in a very quiet area. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the private patio outside of each room is a nice touch - perfect for private stargazing and breakfasts. The living room is spacious and the nature paintings create a pleasant atmosphere. I saw many deer on the property, especially at dusk. The proprietor and family were helpful and accommodating, though they left us alone unless we needed help with something. I would recommend investigating these attractions: Sandstone rock formations can be seen all around the area, including right in front of the property. "The Galleries" are very impressive formations (though they must be accessed by boat - there is a boat launch across the road from the Gate House). Twin Beaches - sandy beaches facing opposite directions approximately three kilometers drive. The Surf Lodge (about six kilometers down the road) is a nice place to have a sunset dinner. Bio Luminescents (North Side of Twin beaches) these were fascinating to see at night when you can watch them light up when you move your arms and legs below surface of the water (check into the time of year when they are active). The Petroglyphs (approximately 10 kilometers down the road). Starfish at Lighthouse point - you can see them among the rock formations at low tide. Eagles in the trees on the road to the ferry - right outside the property, I counted more than 10 Eagles while taking a walk on the nearly carless road (apparently 3 eagles live on the property). Sunset views on the road between the property and the ferry are amazing. The sandy/rocky/gravelly beach in front of the property is perfect for children to look for crabs and other shore creatures. I even saw a sea otter!

  I use a power wheelchair, though I do not require a wheelchair accessible washroom. I found the Gate House and the Main House reasonably accessible from my point of view. I think the honeymoon Hideaway is similarly accessible. (A little push and/or some guidance to get over a bump here or there, when entering the house, etc.) The spacious nature of the property makes it a joy for a wheelchair user, since I could cruise around without concern for anything else. There is a lot of pavement, but a (wheel-able) gravel driveway leads to the Main House and to the Honeymoon Hideaway. I would advise a flag/blinkers so drivers can see you if you intend to explore the island roads in a power wheelchair. (Beautiful seaside/cliffside road between the ferry and the property.)

  Had a group in this beautiful gatehouse for a weekend and a birthday. Was an excellent retreat for all of us; gorgeous property and the ocean is ten seconds out your door. The house itself was huge inside -- slept all of us more than comfortably. Everything was clean and as advertised.

  really cool place, seemed to be several different small deer wandering around, and saw 2 bald eagles there. The cafes and live music and arts and craft shops were neat too Nice quiet get away, will definitely return
